Overall, we loved 18 Haul Away! It was an easy bike ride to the beach and general store. The kitchen was large and well stocked. The screened in porch was our favorite “room” of the house! We sat here in the morning for coffee, late afternoon for appetizers and cocktails and late night while the kids swam. The pool was the largest and cleanest we’ve had in one of our rental houses so far. And the kids loved the dock at the lagoon, just a few steps from the house. What we did not love was one of the room set ups. The “kids” bunk room (which itself was great, perfect for a few kids) was through one of the upstairs king bedrooms. So anytime the kids went to or from their room, they had to walk through our bedroom. My husband and I felt like we had no privacy all week. This king room, which was a nice, spacious room, also shared a hallway bathroom with the bunk room. Every other bedroom in the house had beautiful, en-suite bathrooms, but our bathroom was small and pretty basic. I guess this could be a good set up for a family with toddler/preschool age kids who are dependent on them at night and need to be close to them, but for us it was a pain! Our youngest kids are 9 and 11 and on vacation they want their own space away from parents as well. There is a room with twin beds downstairs and we wished the twin beds (that our 16 year old nephews slept in) were in this upstairs bedroom so all the kids could share the two connecting rooms. We would love to rent this house again next year, but the room set up is definitely a concern.
