Acerca de esta propiedad
Redbud Retreat
- You light the stone fireplace and sink into the leather sofa while the coffee finishes in the kitchen. Downstairs, someone is losing at bumper pool and calling for a rematch. The kids claim the bunk room. Upstairs, the moon print watches over the loft queen, and from the peacock room you wake to a window full of ridgeline. The king suite waits for whoever planned the trip. Even the bathroom has a mountain view. Redbud Retreat keeps everyone close, then gives them a quiet corner of their own.
The kitchen has everything you need for a real breakfast: granite counters, stainless appliances, and a Keurig next to the drip pot so the early risers and the coffee snobs can both get what they want. The living room is built for the long middle of the evening, with a swivel chair by the hearth, a driftwood coffee table, and a window that holds the last of the light.
Enjoy large table and bar area on the main level and large gathering area downstairs. Small cozy living room with fireplace in the kitchen area.
Downstairs, the game room is painted the deep blue of a late sky. There’s bumper pool, a big table for cards or puzzles, and room for whoever loses to call for a rematch. Bedtime is sorted without much debate. The kids claim the bunk room. Upstairs, a moon print watches over the loft queen. In the peacock room you wake up to a window full of ridgeline, and the king suite goes to whoever planned the trip. Even the upstairs bathroom has a mountain view. A stacked washer and dryer means you can pack light and stay longer.
When you’re ready to leave the cabin, Hiawassee makes it easy.
Lake Chatuge sits at the center of town, ringed by mountains, with clear water for boating, paddling, swimming, and fishing. Rent a pontoon for the afternoon, or find a spot on the shore and watch the light move across the ridges. Hamilton Gardens on the lake’s edge puts on a big show in spring when the rhododendrons and azaleas bloom. For the view everyone talks about, drive up Bell Mountain at sunset and look out over the lake and the valley below.
Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia, is just down the road, and on a clear day it looks out over four states. Hikers can pick up the Appalachian Trail at Dicks Creek Gap or Unicoi Gap. High Shoals Falls and Horse Trough Falls are short walks into the forest. Anglers wade the Hiawassee River, and riders take the long way on the mountain roads that wind toward Helen, Blairsville, and across the North Carolina line.
Young Harris has vineyards and tasting rooms in the foothills, and Brasstown Valley Resort is close by for a round of golf or a spa afternoon. Across the state line, the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown offers craft classes and Thursday night concerts. Helen, Blairsville, and Hayesville are all easy day trips.
The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds keeps the calendar full. The Georgia State Fiddlers Convention brings old-time music to town each spring. The Georgia Mountain Fair fills the summer with crafts, food, and music, and the Georgia Mountain Fall Festival brings the crowds back in October. Anderson Music Hall hosts country and gospel shows all season, and the Fourth of July fireworks over Lake Chatuge are worth staking out a spot early. Nearby, Blairsville holds the Scottish Festival and Highland Games in June and the Sorghum Festival in October, and Helen’s Oktoberfest runs through the fall.
When the day is done, come back, light the fire again, and let things go quiet. Redbud Retreat keeps everyone close, then gives each of them a quiet corner of their own.
