# The Apartment



About 34 m² on the ground floor, with a separate bedroom, a living-dining area, and a separate kitchen. The bedroom has a comfortable double bed and a Smart TV; the living-dining area offers a place to sit and eat. It is a compact, functional layout, thoughtfully designed for two people who want a central, quiet base in the old town. There is no lift, and there are a few steps at the building entrance.

A ceramic hob, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave with a grill function, a capsule coffee machine, kettle, and toaster are available, along with cookware, dishes, and wine glasses. We provide an initial supply of coffee capsules. Tea, milk, salt, pepper, and sugar are provided to get you started.



- Bathroom: A bathroom with a walk-in shower. A hairdryer, fresh towels, and toilet paper are provided.



- Comfort: The apartment is heated by a gas boiler. Extra pillows and blankets are on hand.

You are right in Herdecke's historic old town, on the central Hauptstraße. Herdecke is a small, green town in the Ruhr valley — known as the "town between the lakes," set between the Hengsteysee and the Harkortsee, at the southern edge of the Ruhr region where it meets the wooded hills of the Ardey. The old town is full of half-timbered houses and small squares, and a stream runs quietly through the courtyard right behind the house — a calm backdrop in the middle of the centre.

Everything for daily needs is within a 5–10 minute walk in the old town: supermarkets, bakeries, and a drugstore, along with small shops in the pedestrian area.

The old town offers plenty of choice within a short walk — traditional inns, cafés, and bakeries. Café Erste Sahne in the pedestrian zone is a local favourite for breakfast and cake, and there are more restaurants and cafés along the Hauptstraße and the surrounding lanes.

- A lake cruise on the "Friedrich Harkort" — from roughly April to October this passenger boat crosses the Harkortsee; board at the Zweibrücker Hof landing in Herdecke for a relaxed afternoon on the water.

- The old town's Bachviertel — the half-timbered lanes around Bachplatz and Kampstraße show Herdecke at its prettiest; pair a stroll with a slice of cake at Café Erste Sahne in the pedestrian zone.

# Public transport



Herdecke station is about a 6-minute walk away (approx. 450 m). It is served by the regional train RB52 ("Volmetal-Bahn"), running roughly hourly between Dortmund and Hagen via Herdecke. From Dortmund and Hagen main stations you can connect onward across the whole Rhine-Ruhr region.

# By car



The A1 motorway is reachable via the B54/B226; Dortmund, Hagen, and Witten are all a short drive away. Dortmund Airport (DTM) is the nearest airport, with Düsseldorf (DUS) the larger option a little further out.
