Check-In process was easy and the communication with host was fast.Cabin was beautiful is exactly how i imagine, the layout and architectural designs is magnificent. The cleanliness of the house was not good. There was dust and cobwebs everywhere, floor was dirty, and the lanscape could do with a good cleaning the flowerbeds was bushy. But on the upside that did not stopped us from enjoying the cabin. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful and that was exactly what I was looking for.

Visit after Helene

We booked this property early in 2024. Three weeks before or scheduled stay, hurricane Helene ravaged Western NC. We were attending a wedding in the area, and it was not canceled. Darlene offered to let us cancel our booking for a full refund, but we wsited to see if the situation woukd improve. Communication throughout the following weeks was great and we were able to keep our reservation. The cabin was beautiful. Thank you, Darlene and Ron, for working with us during such a difficult time.

GREAT CABIN

This cabin was very unique. We have a stayed in many cabins over the years, but I think this cabin has been my favorite. It was very comfortable. It was very easy to access and very private.

Dark cabin -no yard

We made some great memories at the White Squirrel Lodge and surrounding activities. We were surprised that the interior of the cabin was so dark. With no central air, the upstairs was very difficult to cool. Disappointed there was no yard for the children to enjoy. Overall not up to what we expected. Management team was very courteous and prompt to communications

We enjoyed the cabin

Our family made a weekend trip to NC to catch up and visit Hendersonville. We loved the cottage. It is very spacious, close to Hendersonville and Asheville, and easy to find. Check in was a breeze. The cabin is secluded if you want peach and quiet.

USMC Birthday Reunion

The cabin was great and we enjoyed our stay. Myself and several of the Marines that I served with visited for our annual reunion to celebrate the Marine Corps Birthday. Clean and plenty of room at the property. The 2 kitchens was a nice touch as there was plenty of prep room for meals.

Excellent Christmas Getaway!

This is a fantastic rustic cabin/house with everything you need! The beds rooms are lovely. Two kitchens with everything you need for making big family meals. There is so much space the “younger group can have their own space! Numerous tvs and plenty of parking. The house is super clean and stays toasty warm. The views and grounds are great. We will be back!

The perfect place for a family vacation

Our family of 9 (ages 70-6) was in western NC for a family wedding at a nearby venue and it was the perfect spot. The variety of sleeping arrangements allowed for everyone to have a private space while all still being together. The kitchen facilities were perfect for feeding such a big crowd - plenty of plates etc. There are many "kitchen gadgets" that allowed us to prepare everything we wanted to, The children really loved seeing the white squirrels (or maybe it was a repeat sighting from one fellow)! I certainly would recommend the White Squirrel to others similar to our group.

Wonderful time!

We had plenty of room for our two families of 8 people total. We loved how there were two separate kitchens upstairs and downstairs for both families. Great location to stores and Sierra Nevada brewery. We especially loved playing in the snow on the property. Both owners were very responsive to questions and flexible because of the weather.

Nice Cabin and location, needs to be dusted

The cabin was nice and spacious, but the $250.00 for cleaning plus another $250.00 for administration was not worth it. The cabin looks nice and clean at first glance, but the dust and spider webs are all over the lamps, windows and window sills. It seems like the place has not been dusted or updated since it was built in 1975.

Cute, cozy and convenient

Everything about our 3 night stay can be summed up in those 3 words. The entire cabin was very cute and extremely cozy outlined with vintage or like the kids say, "retro" items. Plenty of room. The stairs are pretty steep, so small children should avoid. There was so much to do nearby, and the house was a warm place to be upon returning from an adventure!

A "Let's Stay Again" Property

Convenient location (for activities in Hendersonville, Asheville, Waynesville, Black Mountain, etc.) on outskirts of town, but in the middle of 5 acres, so very private. Very spacious overall, large kitchens upstairs and downstairs for cooking family meals. Two washers/dryers so you can pack light. LOTS of squirrels (white and brown) who really enjoy sunflower seeds. Our small grandkids helped in carving pumpkins and the squirrels enjoyed those seeds too. Wild turkeys galore! Once you stay, you will want to stay again!

Great Cabin!

We had a great stay at this cabin. Took walks in the woods, made fires in the fire pit, and grilled burgers on their grill. The location makes you feel like you are way out in the woods, but it is actually very close to stores/restaurants, so you get the best of both worlds. Tons of space for a big family gathering and all the things you would need for your stay. The only negative I would say is the kitchen floors were cleaned with something really greasy, so my white socks were black after walking around for 20 min when we first got there, so we all ended up having to wear shoes around the house making the floors even dirtier. Not a deal breaker though, we would still come back to stay.

It is a delightful cabin with basic amenities & located close to airport, Asheville, Hendersonville

We are retired and felt at home with the older amenities, décor, Cowboy VHS, etc; but this older property needs more support than new construction houses, condos. We could sense the property was once a grand cabin home including small gardens, and well loved by the family. We enjoyed the cabin, spent evenings on the deck, but it was sad to see that it was dusty on the outside, gutters full, windows dirty, and planting beds not tended to. The nature of the older property and cabin could use some intentional and thoughtful basic maintenance.

Peaceful Cabin in the Woods

We stayed at White Squirrel for a college friends reunion. There was plenty of space for us all to spread out. The downstairs kitchen was more thoroughly stocked than my own at home, and there were board games and books for the kids. The setting was very private. The beds downstairs were very comfottable. The main downside to our stay (and the reason I took off a star) was that the two twin beds in the upstairs backroom were VERY squeaky. My friends stopped sleeping in them after the first night, which was a relief to me because even on the floor below I would wake up each time they moved. We ran into one issue during our stay and management was very proactive in communication and suggesting different options.
