Place was very cozy and home-feeling. The futons were thick and pretty comfortable. I slept like a baby in the bedroom. The view is nothing short of amazing. My fiancé couldn’t keep me away from the water if he tried :) Paddling out was fun. It was our first family trip and our 3 year old son had a blast. Didn’t catch anything but a couple perch and turtles, but still, fishing relaxes me. We loved that there’s a WII in the bunk bed room. I’d recommend to the owners to keep a spare pack of batteries there for renters, since you have that game there for use. By the time we realized we needed batteries, the stores were closed. I gave the cleanliness a 3 star, because in my opinion it could have been cleaned better by the cleaning guy. There was a dirty sock underneath the bed where I slept, that did not belong to us. When I noticed the sock, I also noticed the amount of dirt and dust under the beds and furniture. The floors did not seem to be vacuumed very well as to when we first got there and walked around, we could feel dirt on our feet when walking in some areas. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. I’m not sure what the owners expect of the cleaning guy so I think it’s important to give them my honest opinion on everything. We did have an issue with the canoes/kayaks being infested with ants when we went to use them. Understanding that’s a part of nature and beyond the owners control, I contacted her to let her know about the issue. I got a quick response and she immediately refunded us for the kayak/canoe rental and proceeded to invite us to use them if we could free of charge. After hosing one off, spraying it with bug spray and letting it sit overnight, we were able to take one out after all. The owners seem to be very nice attentive people. I definitely see why they bought this place. We are considering coming back with our entire extended family again! Toledo Bend is a beautiful place. I’d recommend.
