A relaxing stay

The home was clean and well-kept inside. The owner was friendly and responsive, and we loved the privacy and seclusion. The private dock, board games, game room, and decently stocked kitchen were great touches.That said, there were several issues. The outdoor areas need upkeep, messy yard, dirty deck, and the walk to the dock was on very uneven ground, which made it difficult to navigate safely, especially for anyone with mobility concerns. The dock itself had splintering boards, popped nails, and twisting wood. I had to pull splinters from my dog’s paw.During a storm, the power went out. While flashlights were provided, the candles were mostly burnt out. We found tea lights, but better stocking for outages is needed.The listing says every room has a closet, but the master bedroom’s closet is locked. Understandable, but there should at least be a rack or hooks to hang clothes.Also, personal/family photos made it feel less like a rental. The two large portraits in the living room were a bit much. The smaller ones in the entryway were more out of sight, but ideally, no personal photos should be displayed.With more attention to outdoor maintenance, power outage prep, and guest comfort, this could be a great stay.

We had an absolutely amazing and relaxing stay at this riverfront property! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. The home was spotless, cozy, and well-appointed with everything we needed for a comfortable getaway. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and waking up to the stunning river view each morning was a dream.The hosts were fantastic—super communicative and helpful leading up to our stay and made check-in a breeze. You can tell they really care about creating a great guest experience.One of the highlights was taking the kayaks out on the river on our last day—it was peaceful, scenic, and the perfect way to wrap up our trip.We also loved relaxing on the deck with a cup of coffee in the morning and enjoying dinner while watching the sunset over the water in the evenings. The location felt private and tranquil, yet still close enough to everything we needed.Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking to unwind, reconnect with nature, and enjoy a beautiful setting with top-notch hospitality. We’d love to return!

Relaxing

This home is so cozy and spacious. The view of the river is absolutely beautiful and gives you a feeling of peace. Located at the end of the road provided a very quiet and tranquil atmosphere. Everything was shiny and clean - very homey! If I am in the area again I will definitely check to see if this home is available for rent.

Perfect escape from city noise

We had an amazing stay ,the house is peaceful, clean, and surrounded by nature. Perfect for relaxing and disconnecting from the busy world. We enjoyed kayaking on the river, soaking in the views, and just listening to the sounds of nature.

Beautiful, pet friendly, waterfront home at the end of a quiet wooded street. Fun on the water! We loved swimming, crabbing and kayaking during the day and playing in the game room at night!

Super relaxing weekend

My hubby and I were able to get away for a weekend and this was a perfect place for us. The river view is breathtaking and the house is well-equipped. The master bed is very comfortable. The basement has games including pac-man!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

Chris and Bobby's property was perfect for my friends and I. There is tons of space, a great fenced in yard, firepit and the dock...boy how the pups loved dock diving. I appreciate Chris' communication and accommodation of our requests. We'll be back for sure!

Dock Time

Thank you for such a comfortable stay during our first visit to the Northern Neck. We loved the dock, fire pit, and kayaks, and spent as much time by the river as possible. For outings me were blown away by Hughlett Point (very interesting history how it became a preserve) and enjoyed visiting Kilmarnock. Everyone was so friendly. We also appreciated the dog friendly policies for our senior pup to be able to join us.

Beautiful home on the water

My family of 6 adults and one dog had a lovely stay at Waterside. The house has amazing views out over the river. We were rather unlucky in that the water was full of jellyfish during our entire stay so we were unable to enjoy kayaking, swimming or floating. That said, we were incredibly grateful to get to enjoy the views from the comfort of the air-conditioning in these circumstances! Chris was very responsive to our requests for info during the trip and was proactive in sending tips about local events. We would highly recommend the Irvington Farmer's market, the 4th of July celebration in Kinsale, and the Historic Rice Hotel and Tavern for those exploring the area. Overall, this was a great place to spend a relaxing vacation week!

Relaxation on the River

Thank you for sharing your home! Our family had a relaxing week together on dock and deck and enjoyed kayaking and paddle boarding. We took an afternoon trip to the lovely town of Kilmarnock where we browsed the shops and had the most delicious lobster rolls (Connecticut style) at Small Town Burger on Main Street. One evening we went to Cygnets Restaurant (apx 10-15 minutes) and had an enjoyable, delicious dinner. Wishing you and your family many wonderful memories in your home.

We enjoyed our stay a great deal. The house was clean, comfortable and fun. There is lots to do in the vicinity, but we loved just being at the house: the game room, the dock, the fire pit. We will definitely come back.

Heaven on the river

The view of the river from the house is spectacular. Besides an incredible view, the property met all the important points when staying out of ones home. It was very clean, the hot water was HOT, no stray bugs, a very well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and tvs from this century in most rooms. The weather sucked so we didn't get to utilize the outdoor space much but we were sure to make it down to the dock to do some fishing. You're really out in the woods so there's tons of nature, like bald eagles and lots of fish. It's a perfect getaway from everyday life. The hosts are very responsive and questions get answered almost immediately.

Truly lovely spot by the river!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay…the home is warm, welcoming, and comfortable and has a beautiful river view. The location is fairly isolated and very quiet. It was fun to be able to walk a few steps out of the house down to the dock. Kayaking was lovely. We loved that noisy boats in the vicinity were infrequent and having the fenced-in portion of the yard for our dog was really helpful.
