My husband and I just spent the long Thanksgiving weekend at Wood Haven Lodge with my two sisters and their husbands and I can't even begin to tell you how fantastic it was. With three separate levels, each having its own bedroom (or two!) and bath, it was wonderful for each couple to have their own space. However, we spent most of our time together in the ultra-cozy main-level family room, cooking in the amazingly well-equipped kitchen, while listening to music with the woodburning fireplace going nearly all day every day. There's also a second living space in the lower level with a gas fireplace and giant TV, so IF there had been kids involved, they would have had their own space to hang, too. Martha and Dennis could not have been better hosts! They are close by and highly attentive, without hovering. Super friendly and a delight to get to know. When the snow storm hit later that weekend, Dennis was out plowing and shoveling out our cars before we were barely out of bed! And then, when my car wouldn't start after the below zero night, he cheerfully gave it the jump start it needed. I honestly don't know what we would have done without them close by. Every inch of this lovely lodge is beautifully appointed. North woodsy touches, without being too kitchy. The beds are comfortable with cozy flannel sheets and the lucky person or couple who gets the Master Suite will enjoy another fireplace and private ensuite master bath. The backdrop of the woods outside through the large windows overlooking the lake, with the freshly fallen snow, was breathtaking.
An added bonus was having the Four Seasons Supper Club and Resort within walking distance (less than a block) when we didn't feel like cooking. The owners currently live on premises, so they were able to open even during the storm. More delightful people to meet and excellent food in the restaurant and bar.
If you're looking for a perfect place to spend some quality winter time, this is your spot!
