We had a wonderful stay. The home was well equipped and comfortable. The neighborhood was off the main road and quiet. The property was centrally located with short drives to Lassen and Burney falls. Although there were only two of use the place had ample room for a larger family. I highly recommend this property. Hope we can return someday.

What a wonderful cabin! This place was better than our homes. I came with my daughter, my partner and his daughter, both girls are 11-year old kids, and we couldn't get enough of the cabin. So cozy, stylish and modern, it feels like a home I'd love to have. The temperature control works seamlessly. Great selection of games and DVDs. Perfect location between Burney Falls and Lassen entrance/Manzanita Lake. Communication was easy, please note the PIN is sent in the very first email, so I was a little slow on that, but Ron went above and beyond to help us. He's very kind and generous. We love the north and Shasta and hoping to come back one day.

The communication with Ron was quick and seamless. The decor of the cabin was fascinating which kept the family and I staring at all the cool stuff on the wall. The Nintendo also brought us back to our childhood!

My two boys and I had a great time. Perfect location for fishing, hiking, and exploring. This property is a close drive to so many activities in nature is a true gem. Easy helpful host. I would definitely stay here again.

Peaceful, quiet and relaxing! If you are looking to go somewhere for a reset or getaway close to Burney Falls or Lassen National Park, book this. The cabin had every amenity you would need and then some.

Great stay in a nice quiet area

The house/cabin is situated off the main highway at the end of a short 1/4 mile gravel road, so there is no traffic running by the house. There are a handful of other houses nearby, but they are far enough away that one doesn't even notice them...it is VERY quiet. We stayed 10 days and found the house to be super clean and everything seemed new and fresh. There was nothing that felt old or dirty. The temperature thermostat worked great and we always had the place at a temperature that was comfortable to us. The hot water was hot! (too many rentals like to keep their hot water at annoying lukewarm temps). I found the bed in the Master Bedroom to be extremely comfortable and I always slept well. The owner is quickly available for unseen problems...we had an uninvited mouse in the house and when we reported the problem to the owner, he took care of it right away---no delay. The nearest town is Burney, about 15 minutes away...they have all the businesses one could need...I love Burney, a little unpretentious town that at times is quirky...I just hope it stays that way...I don't want big city folk "discovering" it and then gentrify it with art and silly gift shops.

Hat Creek Retreat

This cabin/house was one of the cleanest I have stayed at. The owner was super responsive with any questions. This are is very remote which we wanted but due to snowfall we weren’t able to do all hiking we wanted, so we did have to drive a bit to find things to do. Overall we really enjoyed the stay.

Excellent all around

Great location between many natural attractions. Ron furnished a great deal of info left in the unit. We cook meals and nearby Burney has Safeway and a large discount grocery. All necessary items were supplier per the listing … in very adequate quantities and selection. We really enjoyed our time in the cabin and the area. Not sure the future will bring us back that way but woul definitely stay on Ron’s home again.

Love, love, love the Hat Creek Retreat!!

Spent 3 wonderful days in Ron’s Hat Creek Retreat. Ron was a great host with lots of great local tips. Had originally planned to fish as I had read the fishing was great in the area. Due to winds we were not able to. However there is no shortage of beautiful country and things to do within an hour of here. Even if you never left the retreat you would have a great time! This property is very private and beautiful. The home has everything you need and fit 4 adults and one pup very comfortably. Wished we had a few more days! We will definitely be back!!!

Absolutely Perfect

Hat Creek Retreat is the perfect home. Super clean, everything you could need for your stay plus some. Great location between Burney Falls and Lassen Volcanic NP. Owner communication was excellent. I would definitely recommend staying here. We will return!

Beautiful slice of paradise!

Everything was 5 star, from the host communication prior to arrival and during if needed, to the cleanliness, to the location, amenities and more! Beautiful, spacious and secluded property, yet accessible and perfectly located within reach of the nearby town and many rivers. The attention to detail by Ron (host) in making it the perfect setup for any visitor is admirable. All you can think of and need is available and everything is clearly well maintained. The photos in the listing are spot on. It was an absolutely beautiful stay and we plan to go back! So glad we found such a gem! Highly recommend.

Fisherman's Paradise

When researching the rentals available in the Hat Creek area, I had something special in mind. A surprise birthday trip for my husband Matt. He's an avid fly fisher and had not fished Hat Creek since the 1990s. The cabin's location seemed perfect and the VRBO pictures sealed the deal. As others have indicated the renovation is great from furniture, flooring, even wall color, to nature paintings and sculptures throughout. Mustn't forget Hi Tech abounds. Everything worked as advertised and made for very cozy evenings with Roku streaming. The weather did not require a fire; however, the wood stove looked tempting. Matt said it was a joy to be within approx 15 minutes of reaching his daily fishing destinations. At day's end, he'd return excited to recount "stories" of the fish he caught and the numerous friendly fishermen he had the pleasure of meeting. The pictures he took showed just how beautiful the streams and the environment are, yet so close to home base. My review is primarily about the Perfect cabin for a fisherman and his wife. Other's reviews detail how well the cabin is stocked in every way, how functional it is, what activities are available in the cabin itself, as well as their exploration of the surrounding attractions and countryside. I want to end by saying what a delight it was communicating with Ron. From my first text discussing my desire for a surprise getaway, Ron has been helpful and quite creative in maintaining that secrecy. We'll be back!

Outstanding 5/5

I hesitate to expound on how outstanding our overall experience was because we are selfish and want to be able to come back whenever we want to. Once others continue to experience what we have Ron will be even more swamped than he is currently. 1. Owner: Ron is truly top tier with regard to his forethough. It is abundantly clear that he meticulously plans literally every desire/need his guests might have. Again, I hesitate to mention this as well because I’d hate to see him taken advantage of by less thoughtful folks who don’t plan for themselves. However, noting it is required as we have literally never been so impressed at the organization and foresight he demonstrates. 2. Property: very quiet and well apportioned with RV hookup and EV charging. First rate fire pit area with all safety requirements and an archery range are great. Ron provides plenty of chairs and seating. There are many trailheads and outdoor activities in proximity and Burney has several restaurants as well as a Safeway less than 20 mins away. A stop at Costco in Redding is warranted as the kitchen is full up with everything you’d need to feed a family three meals a day. Accommodation: we’ve covered the kitchen already. What Ron has done with what is about 1K sqft is astounding. While we are only a retired couple the property easily accommodates two couples in extremely comfortable king beds with another single bed plus bunk beds. There are three TVs w/ROKU. Out of space…BL - A++!
