We stayed here for our ski trip and absolutely loved it. Just a scenic 30-minute drive to Mt Hotham, and the views along the way are stunning. The property itself is beautiful. Clean, cozy, and stocked with everything you need. There was plenty of firewood, so we enjoyed a fire every night. The hosts were incredibly accommodating, and we had the best time. Highly recommend!

Weekday Getaway

We had a great time. Poured rain the whole time but didn't take away from the magic of the place. The accommodation was warm and toasty, the fire was excellent. The birdlife was wonderful. We had such a good time sitting by the fire and looking out at the rain and the birdlife. Looking forward to our next visit, hopefully not too far in the future!

A lovely quiet cottage in nature

We loved our stay here, especially with the wood fire (wood stores topped up frequently by John), the bird life, and the beautiful location. John and Anne should be very proud of what they've created.

Garden oasis

The location is peaceful and the gardens surrounding the cottage are beautifully laid out and very well maintained. As a horticulturist, I particularly appreciated the more unusual plants. The cottage was spacious and very clean. Lovely views from all windows and you are secluded from both the house and another cottage. Breakfast was on the verandah in the morning sun. The shower must be one of the best I’ve experienced in a short stay accommodation! The heating in the lounge room and bedrooms was quick and efficient. Communication was very professional. This property is one of the best I’ve ever stayed at!

A beautiful haven

John and Anne are excellent hosts. The cottage is extremely clean and everything needed is provided (and more). The garden setting is divine and very hard to match. This is our second stay and we look forward to a future stay in 18 months. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Stunning garden surrounds

Shady Brook cottage was perfect for our stay. John was very welcoming on arrival. I took our two children up to Hotham each day while my wife stayed in Harrietville and it was a beautiful cottage with incredible gardens. There were plenty of birds feeding outside the cottage and a perfect base for day trips to Hotham. Thanks John and Anne.
