Room pics online showed beach front. The balcony view was of the other building in the complex. We could see the ocean from our balcony but calling this specific room beach front is quite misleading.

The room was clean. Had the essentials. There was a closet with a few beach chairs and umbrellas. However, we did not discover this until we already purchased some (we left ours in the closet since we could not pack them back in the plane). The balcony was great with a decent view. No issues.

Property was right next door to the hangout festival was the only good thing. Well, that and the pool on the East building. Condo was extremely dated, like 50 years dated. For the high nightly rental rate, you would think the owner could afford to have the floors fixed, new furniture, new cabinets, better wifi, bathrooms updated or anything really.

Liked that it was on the beach & had a balcony. I liked that it had a washer and dryer. Had problem with toilet & TV they were quick to come & fix these. The place looked clean, but if you walked from the front door the soles of your feet were black by the time you got to the balcony. If you like to cook this is NOT the place for you. Hand mixer with no beaters. No cookie sheet. Didn’t even have large drinking glasses just juice size & 1 cup size. There were dirty dishes & silverware in the cabinets. It says sleeps 4, but the only room with privacy is the bathroom. I would not stay here with more than 2. There is a barn door in the bedroom, but it won’t stay closed. Condo is located by the elevator and the front door opens into the bedroom. This means you are trying to sleep near the elevator. I had to get ear plugs to sleep. I didn’t like that you had to pay a $45 parking fee.

Was not aware that the office is actually located at Island Winds East. A security guard had to show me where to go. That should be included in the check-in information. The ceiling fan in the bedroom did not work, so I called about it. I did get a call back, but the problem was not resolved before we left. I was told a new ceiling fan would need to be installed, but it had not been done when we left. I appreciated the call back and the update once maintenance had been in to check on what was needed. We did actually meet the owners of the unit and they were nice enough to bring a fan, a new fan at that, for us to use. We left that fan there with the box that it came in. Loved having the icemaker in the freezer... we like our drinks ice cold! The balcony was our favorite place to be! We did have to buy salt and pepper, which we left on the stove when we left. The first day, our eggs were bland without salt and pepper. I found it odd there was not at least salt and pepper there for us to use. Wonderful trip, great place to stay! No complaints.

Great and easy access to the beautiful beach. Excellent restaurants nearby. Work has been done to the outside of the property but inside could use more updating.

Condo from hell!!!!!

Condo #271. I have stayed in condos several times in the gulf shores/orange beach area and this particular one has to be the filthiest one I have ever stayed in. Unfortunately this trip was a last minute emergency trip for a family member’s funeral therefore we had to book this one due to our budget and being the only one available for the days needed for our visit. I’m really not sure where to start but I did take a video upon check in and noticed mold in both bathrooms all along the showers and pulled the toilet tank lids off and discovered something that I have never seen in my life so bad!!!! Housekeeping here is awful. The accumulation of mold had to take place over months of neglect. Dirty dishes were put away with clean dishes. Light fixtures did not work. All the door and drawer handles were broken. There was so much lint in the laundry room closet that would start a fire with just a spark. The master bed frame was broken. Air filters has so much dirt in them they haven’t been cleaned for months.

The location is perfect, the room this year however wasn’t. I spent 10 years in the Army and slept on softer cots. The mattresses had to be at least 10 years old in both rooms. I’m sure that a property that is booked year around for around 1400 a week, new mattresses wouldn’t be out of reach. Our children couldn’t even sleep on them. If you’re going to book room 271, be sure to bring air mattresses, or walk so much during the day that you just pass out wherever you land.

Floor was not clean in condo. Rat pellets in king size bed and under kitchen table. Beds were not comfortable. Dishes were not clean from prior guest. Pool easily accessible. Beach view from side of building. Washer and dryer makes a lot of racket.

Didnt want to come home!

My mother, my 13 year old son and myself stayed here for 3 nights and we enjoyed the comfort and location so much we extended our stay. There was an amazing Italian restaurant that delivered, beach front ,all shopping and attractions nearby. There were elevators which were a relief being 6 months pregnant and the place was clean, every detail thought of for the perfect home away from home. Cable and wifi perfect, my son travels with his PC and had his own room with bathroom. Property manager was easily accessible and prompt via email or phone when decided to extend our stay and we truly cannot wait to return! Thank you!!!

If you plan to stay in Gulf Shores AL. DO NOT. I repeat DO NOT book at Island Winds! I had to clean our condo upon arrival, it was nasty. I even had to launder the bedspreads and matching pillow cases. The pics do not depict exactly how nasty this place was. They also do not give you pertinent information such as if you stay in the West building you have to park on that side and vice versa for the East building even though it is the same damn place. If you do they will ticket you and have your vehicle towed and if your lot is full you have to park down the road even though you paid $25 plus tax for your parking permit. In the words of a fellow vacationer we met there "The place is a ****hole." The only positive was the view. The bed was hard and the pillows were harder but you also didn't want to use the pullout couch because it was disgusting. There were candy wrappers on the shelf of the coffee table and trash, dirt, sand, etc under the beds, couches, coffee table, end tables. The trim had fingerprints and nasty crap all over them not to mention crap on the walls that I do not want to know what it was. The floors were sand covered which is normal since you are on the beach however the floors weren't even mopped. Needless to say we left the condo cleaner than it was when we arrived.

I loved that the property was on the beach. The pool was wonderful. The staff was very friendly. I didn't like the mold over the shower in the bathroom.
