Nice house

We had a great time during our family vacation. I did not give this property all 5 stars because of a few things, first of all upon checking in we found empty beer cans under the bed downstairs and one full beer can under the dresser. We also found medications, nail files and old used hair brushes in some the drawers, and with a toddler in the house finding medications in the drawer was a little bit alarming since they thing everything is candy. I feel as though the housekeeping and cleanliness could have been a little better. We were also not informed that that all of the TV's in the house except for the one in the master bedroom and the living room downstairs were just monitors and there was no way of watching anything on them unless you brought your own fire stick or laptop to hook up to it. While that didn't bother us much it would have been nice to know prior to getting there so we could have planned for that. Also the top balcony is extremely unsturdy. It looks as though one of the main beams is cracked in half and the railing is very loose. There are also decking screws that are popping out of the deck around the pool. We found those with our bare feet right out side of the screened in porch. The lights to the screened in porch area also did not work so we were unable to enjoy that portion of the house after it was dark. The railing around the pool deck is also very unstable so do not lean on it trying to get a glimpse of the sunrise or sunsets.

Another wonderful week at Rest Area West!

This was our second stay at Rest Area West, and it was just as perfect as the first. The property is well suited to groups, and it includes extra touches such as multiple refrigerators and dishwashers, and the pool is always a welcome way to end a great day at the beach (which is mere steps away!). We will definitely be back.

Amazing property and location.

This is such an amazing property and location. Walking out the back door to the beautiful beach was breathtaking. Lounging in the pool while watching the surf, sunrises, sunsets was so fun. The house is comfortable and had everything we needed. We were so sad to leave. Amazing.

Location is awsome, secluded beach, easy access, house was used but functional, lots of room for everyone in kitchen and living room. Plenty of deck space, grill is in rough shape. Overall had a great experience would rent again!

Great location for a week with good friends!

Rest Area West was just as good as advertised. Our group of 4 couples all loved the properry and its proximity to the Gulf. The house is in great shape with thoughtful amenities such as extra refrigerator space and two dishwashers. The pool on the deck that overlooks the beach and the beautiful waters of the Gulf was a welcome bonus for all of us. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful Family Vacay

We stayed a week in this fabulous beach house. Everything about the house was great, the beach was so close and the pool was an added bonus. The house was well equipped with everything that we needed. Will definitely stay here again.

Great time

We had a wonderful time. Loved the pool and access to the beach!! House was nice. We never could figure out the TV s in any of the rooms. Several things could have used fixing or some TLC but we truly enjoyed our stay.

Rest Area West

Kitchen had everything we needed. Dining area accommodated all of us. Down side was the furniture and beds were old and terribly worn out. Uncomfortable mattresses. House could use a good cleaning. Ice maker was nice to have but we had to clean the mold out of it. Had rain water come in around a window frame. Door code didn’t work to enter after going out for dinner but manager responded quickly to give us a new code.

Great vaca!

I thought the online listing was a little misleading! I didn’t realize until after booking that this is a duplex! There was a very large group (possibly larger than the allowed capacity) celebrating graduation in the unit beside us! They were a little loud but hey were only there for the first couple of days of our stay! Other than that, the house was perfect for our family- plenty of room and very clean!

Had a wonderful family beach vacation. The house was well equipped inside and out for a large family. Plenty of kitchen supplies for meals in and lots of toys for pool area. The ramp to the beach was such a huge help!

Relaxing Stay

We have been coming to Gulf Shores for 6 years and have stayed in a different home for each stay. We have never stayed in the sane property. The pool is this property was a big draw and we did enjoy it. We share this home with two other families and we had plenty of room for all of us. It’s beach front and beautiful. Things we loved as families were the beach, the pool and daily family volleyball games. The beds were comfy and we loved the very large kitchen table. The patio furniture is nice also. We are not really picky families or hard to please. If we were things that would have bothered us included: No functioning ice machine The ice maker on the fridge makes maybe one full glass of ice a day. The ice maker in the wet bar area does not work at all. The dryer takes 2.5-3 hours for one load to dry. No oven mitts for cooking Very dirty stove, and grills- would definitely not cook on the grills. Housekeeping did a base cleaning job before our arrival. Not outstanding, but it was fine. It appears as though the other side has different owners. You could get lucky with sharing the pool with guests, but you could also get unlucky. We had it great most of the week. Sadly we noticed that next year this same property is more than doubling in price for our spring break. Glad we enjoyed it before we can afford it.

Needs some maintenance

We had an enjoyable visit to Fort Morgan. This location is out of the way, which has it benefits, and negatives. House interior was clean, kitchen was well stocked, minus pot mitts. Views were amazing, we saw dolphins, sharks, and sting rays. I did text, and talk with the owner after our stay, so some of the negatives I am going to mention may have been taken care of by now. The beach side patio door does not lock, at all, none of the 4 available grills were usable, a few of us tripped several times on the small step under the house, the vents were closed in the first floor bedroom & bathroom, (fortunately, no one got hurt standing on a chair opening them), 3 of us burned ourselves using the oven, and make sure to plan ahead when using the dryer as it takes 2 to 2 1/2 cycles. This side of the duplex offers very little for outdoor toys, but it is not advertised that they do. There also were not many board games, if any, for adults/teens to play on the beautiful dining room table. We had our own, as well as our own chess pieces to use on the chess table. If any of these things concern you, check with Justin regarding if any of these items have been taken care of before your stay.

Extended Family Spring Break

We had a wonderful time at Rest Area West. Our group consisted of grandparents, parents, teens and young children. There was plenty of space and plenty of things to do. The house was well appointed and clean. Our only recommendations would be more kitchen hand towels and oven mits. The rooms were spacious and no one ever had to wait for a bathroom since there were 5 to choose from! We definitely enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend!

Great stay for large group

We had a great stay for our first ever all family Christmas vacation! The living and kitchen space is so open and made for great time spent together. Lots of seating and kitchen is well stocked. Would recommend a few more dish towels in kitchen though. Lots of sleeping places although a few beds were somewhat uncomfortable. The location right on the beach was amazing!! Would highly recommend.

Just your private beach

We loved every minute of the stay. Roomy and enough beds for all. The balcony.might just be my favorite spot. Watch the waves drinking coffee. The owner sent me an ad for Thanksgiving meal idea , which was a HIT! Owner is very responsive by phone calls , texted and mail. We will come back and stay there again

Family fun

Took my son, grandchildren, sister, cousin and daughter for fall break. Is was just what we needed. Plenty of room and baths for everyone. Pool and very short walk to the beach which was good for the older adults. Only thing I would suggest would be pot holders for over snd new grills.
