We had a great stay overall and truly enjoyed our time in Gulf Shores. We chose this home for its proximity to the beach, the canal behind the house for fishing, the price point, and the photos—and the location did not disappoint. Being able to enjoy both the beach and canal made for a memorable vacation.That said, there were a few issues worth noting for future guests. While the home looks beautiful in the listing photos, some aspects were misleading. Several kitchen cupboards were broken, did not close properly, and were screwed shut, limiting their use. We also found dirty dishes put away in the cabinets, with food still stuck on them, which was disappointing.The bedding was extremely thin, making nights cold, and the pillows were very flat and uncomfortable. Additionally, the drains in the downstairs bathroom were slow to drain, and the living room remotes did not work until new batteries were installed.For a home that accommodates a larger group, the kitchen trash can was quite small—especially for a family that prepared and ate most meals at the house. Lastly, we were unable to use either the indoor or outdoor fireplaces, which was unfortunate during a winter stay.Overall, we had a wonderful time and loved the location, but some maintenance, cleanliness, and comfort updates would significantly improve the experience and better align the home with its listing photos.
