Lovely large property very well suited for our family (2 seniors, 3 adults, 2 toddlers). Very accommodating for small children. Maria the host was outstanding -- very sweet, kind, thoughtful and responsive to any and all queries/requests.

A Truly Magical Tuscan Family HolidayOur stay at Maria Antonietta’s Villa was nothing short of magical. It was the perfect setting for our family reunion, bringing together five of us from the US and two from Germany. The villa provided the warm, welcoming, and spacious environment we needed to create unforgettable memories together. Maria and her husband Mario are the heart of this beautiful place. From the moment we booked, Maria was incredibly responsive, helping me plan everything from wine tastings to cooking classes. She even cooked a spectacular typical Tuscan dinner for my birthday—the absolute highlight of our culinary journey! The villa’s location is ideal, offering stunning views of the valley and incredible sunsets. It felt peacefully remote, yet was central for day trips to Florence, Siena, and San Gimignano, and just a short drive to a well-stocked supermarket.But what truly sets this place apart is the genuine care of the hosts. Maria is warm-hearted and attentive, ensuring the pool was always clean and that we lacked for nothing. When I had a small medical issue, her kindness and help were a comfort. She made us all feel like family. We found a home away from home in Tuscany, and we will most definitely be back.

We were a group of 2 families(8 total) and this property was incredible for our 6 day stay. It was extremely clean and Maria Antonieta was very responsive when we had any questions. I would recommend a catered dinner by her as well it was one of our favorite meals in Italy. It is in a great location and the views are incredible by the pool. I would recommend this property for anyone looking for a large house. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you Maria Antonieta!

Perfect Tuscan Villa

We had an amazing stay for six nights. The villa is perfectly located in Greve and very close to Panzano. The accommodations fit our group of nine people easily. Even more impressive than the villa itself is the grounds on the property. The views of the vineyards and olive trees were beautiful. Maria was the best host! She helped us set up dinner reservations. And gave great recommendations on local attractions. Maria and her family hosted us to a traditional tuscan cooking class at the villa that was one of our highlights from the trip. The adults and kids loved it. I can’t recommend this villa or Maria as a host enough. Our stay was amazing.

Quiet, family-friendly setting in the heart of Tuscany

We had a fabulous stay here with our super host! With four kids and four adults we were able to enjoy the peaceful property while still exploring nearby villages and wineries. But the highlight was a beautiful dinner put on by Maria Antoinetta - both kids and adults were speechless at how amazing her cooking was! It was an incredible dining experience: being served several courses (with wine!) on the terrace with the sun setting behind us. If you stay here do yourself a favor and book a dinner. I would definitely do it all again!

Dream 60th birthday party!

Maria’s Villa was perfect for our five day celebration. We all love wine, views, cooking together, visiting and exploring and the charming villa complimented everything. She was the best hostess. Our highlight was grilling steaks and eating outside while watching a beautiful Tuscan sunset. Eat in Panzano at least once and try Officini Della Bisteca. We are already planning our return!

Amazing!

Our stay in this beautiful location was the highlight of our two week trip. The property was the epitome of a Tuscan villa, rustically charming but very very comfortable and beautiful. The view from the big patio is breathtaking and the pool perfect. Maria and her husband were so accommodating, responsive, and provided wonderful goodies from their garden and kitchen. I will do all that I can to make it back there someday!

Clinards/Jacobs Vacation 2023

We just spent a blissful ten days with our extended family at the beautiful Agriturismo Sommassa and it was absolutely the experience of a lifetime! Maria and Mario are wonderful hosts and the villa is immaculately clean, spacious, comfortable and welcoming with an abundance of pure Tuscan countryside charm. We loved the breezy, large and well appointed kitchen on the main floor and the comfortable bedrooms. The villa offered a perfect space for relaxing and spending family time together, and we enjoyed meals and cocktail hour on the shaded terrace right outside, which also features a wood burning grill. The views are stupendous, especially from the pool area overlooking the valley and numerous olive trees. Maria attended to our every need and question in the weeks leading up to our stay, from recommendations for restaurants and giving us plenty of information to ensure we had a wonderful and relaxing vacation. Mario shared fresh picked vegetables from the large garden, and Maria delighted us with a cooking class right at the villa where we learned how to make authentic tiramisu -- it was such a treat! We cannot recommend this lovely villa enough and cannot wait to return! Thank you Maria and Mario!! -Sue Jacobs

Great Time in this Gorgeous Villa!

Our last day, one person in our party said that they just wished they could stay at this villa forever! The pool was pristine, the house was perfect, and the owners were so nice and accommodating-even brought us fresh vegetables from their garden! The roads to get to the villa can be a bit tough, but once you get used to them, it's not a problem. Loved our stay here!

Beautiful Tuscany

We spent a relaxing week at Greve in Chianti. Have to give a big thanks to Maria Antonietta for being such a charming and helpful host. Their home is situated among lovely olive trees in the hill country of Tuscany. It is located about a quarter kilometer off of the paved road but Maria met us and showed us the way. The home was perfect for our group of 8 adults with plenty of room to spread out. Air conditioning works well and is available for a reasonable fee should you choose to use it which we did in the bedrooms. We spent every evening dining on the patio as the sun went down. The large pool is situated up a small hill from the house with amazing views. We took day trips to Florence, SIena and Cortona. Maria helped us line up a driver, a chef for two dinners, arranged a vineyard tour and tasting, shared recipes and told us of great restaurants and places to see. While the home and pool were both wonderful...Maria made it remarkable.

We absolutely loved staying at Agriturismo Sommassa!!! It is stunningly renovated home that has lots of vintage charm right in the heart of Chianti! The view from the pool is like being in a postcard! Maria and Mario were wonderful hosts. I can’t say enough good things about our experience there!

Gruppenurlaub im Ferienhaus

Das Haus ist sehr geräumig gut aufgeteilt und schön der dazugehörende Pool ist schön groß wie auf den Bildern zu sehen. Jedoch ist die Anfahrt mit einem normalen PKW schwierig und man sitzt eventuell mehrmals auf. Zudem ist das Haus im obersten Stockwerk von anderen Hausbewohnern bewohnt, was nicht in der Anzeige steht. Bis auf diese zwei Punkte aber alles in allem eine sehr schöne moderne Unterkunft.

Simply Stunning

Villa Sommassa was an absolute dream of a place to stay in the Chianti region. It was a little remote, but we learned our way about very quickly. The villa was immaculate and had all the conveniences of home. The bedrooms were spacious, and 3 of the 4 had en suite bathrooms, which is a real plus. We were a group of 4, but could have easily added 4 more people and not been crowded. The pool is clean and equipped with many lounge chairs as well as a covered table and chairs. The lawn around the pool is very well manicured. The view from the pool was spectacular! Perhaps the best part of our stay was our hostess, Maria Antoinetta. She met us in Panzano to "drive us in" to the villa, and was so accommodating and helpful in every way. Such a sweet person who only wanted us to have our best vacation ever. This is truly one of the best places we have ever stayed. We can't wait to come back!

Awesome Tuscany villa!

This was my 7th villa rental in Chianti and by far the best! If you are looking for something remote, scenic, clean, and with old world charm, look no further....Villa Sommassa has it all. There were so many great memories, especially the many evenings sitting at the outside table enjoying a glass of wine while watching the sun setting over the mountains. However, the highlight of our stay was meeting Maria and Mario, the owners. They are lovely people, attentive and immediately responsive to any request or need....they were the consummate host and hostess that went the extra mile(s) to make our stay memorable. We hated to leave this piece of paradise and so look forward to our next stay at Sommassa.

Great farmhouse hidden from the crowds

This is a beautiful place, that has had few VRBO reviews. That initially concerned us (6 people- 3 couples). However when we arrived, is was a very clean and large place. There are 4 bedrooms, 3 with double beds, and 3 with private bathrooms. However one of those 3 private bathrooms is in another room with 2 single beds. One couple just used the double bedroom and the private bath off the single beds and it was fine. The owner, Maria, is marvelous, and really will appreciate you, especially if you treat her the way you would like to be treated if you owned the house. She and her husband will bend over backwards. Note- Maria lives in nearby Panzano, not at the house. Also, is is not described well, but there is the main communal living area on the ground floors with the complete kitchen, AND a second communal living area with partial kitchen on the upper floor. The partial kitchen has all appliances, just not the utensils which you can bring up from below if you want to cook there. For those that do not read Italian, one small Italian sentence in the description that you need to understand so you will not be surprised with at the end of your stay, that hasn't been translated to English. The cost for heat and air conditioning is not included. This is totally understandable as the house is very big, the local price for electricity in Italy is high. If Maria would air condition the whole thing to 65 degrees in the summer, it would rack up a small fortune, possibly greater than the daily rental cost. So they put in a separate A/C-heating meter that you will read with Maria at the start and end of the rental, and you will pay for the kilowatts used at the rate shown in the VRBO property description in terms of euros per kw. We found that we did not need the AC or the heating, so simply shut off the electrical breakers at the meter, so no kW power was used. The balance of the power for the house is not on the AC/heating meter, that cost is included in the rental price. I highly recommend this place. It is down a 1/2 mile dirt road, that keeps the tourists out. It is about 5 minutes from Panzano and 15-20 minutes from Greve. Big private pool, in sight of Badia a Passignano. Very near the Ristorante Riganna, which you must go to for lunch. Sit outside on the porch with some antipasta from the world famous Dario’s Butcher Shop, with some wine from a local winery that you tasted or wine from the Coop, and watch the sun set. Fantastic!
