We had a wonderful stay at this property. The hosts were gracious, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit. The home itself was beautiful and very well maintained. The hot tub and game room were excellent amenities and truly enhanced our experience. We would gladly return and highly recommend this property.

Wonderful Stay! The hosts were fantastic - they promptly answered our questions prior to our arrival and during our stay. Excellent communicators, friendly, but not intrusive.The location was very private with beautiful trees, garden, and Koi pond. Due to the weather, we did not get to enjoy all of the wonderful amenities. The property is very close to a small prop engine airport and while you could hear them periodically throughout the day the noise was not intrusive and it was not an issue in the evening. The living area was spacious and comfortable. The bedroom is not connected to the living space and you must go outdoors to access the bedroom. The only bathroom is in the bedroom area. All in all, and most enjoyable stay! Thank you to the hosts!

we came to this place to enjoy the Yuba River in Nevada city. We got so much more than we expected! The host were absolutely wonderful friendly kind people. The breakfast that they made homemade in the morning was so sweet and it was so lovely talking with them. They have an absolutely stunning property and the amenities are incredible - the pool table the hot tub, the deck. It was all a dream! I’m not exaggerating when I say this is one of the best places I’ve ever stayed!

We were greeted by Julie & Ken, our hosts and taken on an orientation tour. Our hosts were kind and thoughtful throughout ouur stay. This B&B was exceptional and delightful. Breakfasts were delicious and served in a special sun room/ dining room that Ken and Julie called our living room. Our bedroom was cozy and comfortable. The gardens, koi fish and waterfall, hot tub, and patio extended our private space. We loved it here and recommend it.

Wonderful place to stay!

This was a wonderful place to stay! The hosts were very welcoming and accommodating, kind and helpful. They provided breakfast each morning in their sunroom that looked out on their luscious yard. They paid close attention to detail... even had a welcoming banner saying "Happy 33rd Anniversary!"

Julie and Ken were amazing hosts. We had so much in common. They made our anniversary & birthday getaway very special. The accommodations were wonderful. The property was beautiful. From the koi pond to the creek and the surrounding trees, incredibly relaxing. Looking forward to returning some day when it's cold enough to enjoy the outside fireplace and roast some marshmallows.

Best place to stay in the area

The owners were very attentive and couldn't be nicer. The property is absolutely beautiful with a great location. The owners are on site but give you complete privacy. You only see them at breakfast but as nice as they were, we truly enjoyed getting to know them.The room is adorable and easy direct outside access. When we are in the area next time, we will most definitely stay here again, hands down!

It’s possible that we missed in the description that the bedroom was not attached to all the amenities, but that was one drawback. The actual sleeping quarters is extremely small and circulation of air is not the best. If the bedroom had a screen door, it would’ve helped immensely. Other than that, the accommodations are great. The host and hostess are absolutely fabulous. The atmosphere is unmatched. The Koi fish are stunning.

Couldn't have had a better experience! The property is beautiful and serene, and the room is cozy and comfortable. The owners are super sweet and accommodating, and they are so knowledgeable about the area! They are at the property during your stay, but they are so courteous; It feels like you have the whole place to yourself! The bed was really comfortable, and the room has a small AC unit so it never got too hot in there. The morning breakfasts were absolutely delicious too. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway I can't recommend this property enough!

Wonder time

We had a very relaxing, enjoyable time. The hosts were fabulous, very approachable and friendly. We really enjoyed relaxing in the sunroom, being in the hot tub, and sitting by the fireplace in the evening. We hope to come again soon.

Gem!

This was such a unique and lovely place to stay. The sunroom was glorious and has a pool table, so we spent a lot of time there. We had both the hot tub and sunroom all to ourselves; Julie and Ken are very protective of guest privacy. The grounds are beautiful and we walked around some of the neighborhood. It really is a neat area to explore, lovely homes. We didn't get to use the outdoor fireplace because the weather didn't agree, but it was ready for us if that had changed.We don't eat out much, even when we travel, so we used the outdoor grill area to cook and it was great fun. Julie helped us celebrate our wedding anniversary with some very special, very personal touches that we appreciated so much. Breakfast is lovely! Julie makes a homemade treat (I won't give away what it is) that was a highlight for us.I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommend!

Relaxing and fun place to stay

My husband and I celebrated our 15 yr anniversary at the Bear Den. The room is separated from the main home allowing for complete privacy. The sunroom was a great place to hang out with my hubby and shoot some pool. The hot tub was hot bubbly and relaxing under the stars. The bed was so cozy and we enjoyed a great breakfast provided by our wonderful hosts. There was also an outdoor fireplace to cuddle by, fully prepared with wood logs. Thank you for providing a place for us to enjoy the much needed R&R

Hidden Gem

Loved our stay at this beautiful hidden gem. The hosts were warm and welcoming and made sure every detail of our stay was perfect. The continental breakfast each morning was fresh and delicious. So nice to have the whole sunroom to ourselves to play pool, enjoy views of the Koi pond and have glimpses of small airplanes preparing to take off. Nature was right outside of our window, of birds and several deer only a few feet away.

Great weekend getaway

Wanted a nice getaway for the weekend for my wife & I and this was an amazing spot. Julie & Ken were great hosts and their property was beautiful & so relaxing. We will definitely be returning for another weekend getaway!

Beautiful property, wonderful location, attentive hosts, highly recommend!

A beautiful stay, and the hosts were amazing! The living quarters are a little small for an extended stay, but the exclusive use of the gorgeous, spacious sunroom, more than made up for it. Sitting in that room looking out onto the beautiful property, was a peaceful way to start each day. The hosts were kind and attentive to our every need.

Relaxing trip!

My husband and I enjoyed the breakfast provided, relaxing environment, and small town atmosphere of Nevada City and Grass Valley. The airport behind the property is for small prop planes so it’s not loud and it was fun to watch the planes taking off and landing from up close. The bear den is exactly as described and the grounds are beautiful. Ken and Julie are wonderful and have a gift for hospitality. Anyone looking for a nice cabin getaway in ill love staying here. Thank you Ken & Julie!
