Very peaceful and beautiful spot right on Manitook Lake. Family of four with a guest (Grandpa) stayed here for about ten days at the end of July 2021.
Highlights:
-Cottage is beautiful inside, kitchen feels recently remodeled and includes all the appliances and necessities to make the stay comfortable and easy. Bathroom also felt recently renovated with a sizeable shower.
-Downstairs/basement finished area is great for kids when spending time inside, with large screen TV and electronic dartboard for fun.
-Selection of card and board games made time in the cabin fun for everyone
-The dock and area leading to the dock is set up nicely, with four Adirondack chairs, slate tiles in the ground for comfortable barefoot movement, and kayaks/paddles/life jackets all right nearby
-Sandy beach area next to and in front of dock was a comfortable place for small kids to swim and wade
-Lots of wildlife to discover around the lake, including turtles, herons, fish, and even a snake (the kids named the snake Jerry).
-Lake is sparsely populated and largely empty of people during our visit, with occasional kayakers and fishers seen from time to time. Stay was quiet and peaceful.
-Gas grill was used several times and the propane is included with the cottage, which was very nice.
-Stunning views of the lake all day from the main areas of the cottage.
-TVs had Chromecast built in, and our 4-yr old was navigating without assistance before we even finished unpacking.
-Bedrooms were good size and comfortable to sleep in, perfect for a family our size. Bedding was very comfortable with plenty of pillows.
-Local area of Granby is wonderful, with lots of great food options available. Nothing was more than a few minutes' drive away, including local and larger stores. People of Granby were all very nice and welcoming.
-Property manager and owner were excellent, went above and beyond to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible, very quick to respond when questions came up.
The only notable drawback for us were the stairs. The cottage sits at the bottom of a slope that requires stairs to reach. There are 71 (we counted) stairs leading to the cottage from the two parking spots off Lakeside Drive. The stairs are sturdy and the climb is not steep, most people will not find it hard to make it up and down them. The only time it was truly cumbersome was unloading and loading upon arrival and checkout.
My family loved our time here and we had great fun seeking out wildlife on the kayaks, watching birds (especially a pair of herons that crisscrossed the lake from time to time), collecting cool rocks, and swimming near the dock. Most of our time was spent in the water, followed closely by playing games inside while we enjoyed the view. Truly a beautiful home away from home!
