Better than the weather
A one night stay for a meeting on Sunday in Godalming. Lovely village setting and a plainly popular venue for eating and drinking in spite of heavy rain. Excellent breakfast freshly and individually cooked.

Chic and cosy!
Stayed for the weekend. The staff were exceptionally helpful and nothing was too much bother for them. The food was lovely both in the evening and the breakfast was varied which was great too. The room was very chic and cosy.

My stay for the weekend was for a local wedding. From arrival and throughout my stay the staff at the property could not do enough - on arrival helping to carry bags to my room and showing me into the room. The room was small but fine for me, the quirky old building meant that the room was sloped, but that adds to the character! Well equipped with coffee machine and kettle, complimentary bottled water and local beer. Breakfast was wonderful, lovely continental buffet style and Cooked breakfast to order, all included. We dined on the first night and the food was also lovely.

Stylish but small
Stylish and comfortable rooms, but they are small. No air-con, bath or fridge in the room. Noise from restaurant when customers are outside. Very poor wi-fi and almost no mobile signal (not the hotel’s fault). Good breakfast. Background noise from busy A3.

Lovely place to stay.
Lovely place and lovely, friendly staff. Lots of outside covered seating by the river in a great setting. Room small but cosy and very well equipped. Even has coffee maker. Walk in shower, immaculately clean. Food very good, nicely presented and a slight twist on the normal pub food. Breakfast on first day had to be pre-ordered,for whatever reason. This meal therefore wasn't so good, rather dried up. A pity as second day breakfast excellent. Really enjoyed our stay.

This property is in a lovely location and is a beautiful little boutique pub/hotel in the Surrey Hills. The room was very clean and had all the amenities listed on their website. I did have some issues with my stay though: 1. My room wasn't serviced during my 2 night stay 2. There were kitchen delays producing the breakfast on one of the mornings. 3. My evening meal order wasn't taken properly - I received an incorrect item. I didn't complain because I had complained about breakfast earlier in the morning. These are all little things but shows a lack of attention to detail. In fairness to the business, they did apologise for all the errors and did discount my bill. Ultimately I was disappointed and won't stay there again.

Sadly we only enjoyed the property from about 10pm onwards as we were busy elsewhere at a gathering although we had dropped our bags off about 2pm into our room. The staff were all jolly and friendly. The real ale was good. The breakfast was wonderful. We have a lovely British coupe that we don't like leaving near to cars that bash their doors into us but there is a secret car park near the wheelie bins (down a vicious angled slope that puts off folk I guess) and that provides wonderful parking for 3-4 cars. The room was lovely with a view of the river (albeit somewhat obscured by the diners' tents in the gdn) and the coffee machine was complemented with real milk in a fridge in the corridor. Excellent package.

We had a perfect stay. The room was gorgeous and full of character, and they'd thought of so many little touches. Lovely pub with great food. Would definitely recommend.

Immaculate lovely room with little attentions. Stay marred by lack of staff, problems with the kitchen and menu and the TV not working at all with no remedy.

Poor Sleep
Sadly I suffered from poor sleep quality due to an outside air conditioning unit and a constantly loud banging bar door underneath my room. No telephones in the room so I had to shout out of the window to a memeber of public to alert staff, who switched off the air con unit but the bar door created noise until 12.20 am. Iwas moved the next day to a quiet room so I was trulu thankful for the offer. please be aware that cooked breakfast is only on a Sat and Sun and not through the week , sadly I missed this information.

Relaxing stay
I came to Godalming to bring my dog to Fitzpatrick's and seen the stag on my last visit, this was the ideal location for me to stay because of the early appointment, its a beautiful setting spotlessly clean cosy rooms, great food, and very friendly staff who were very accommodating nothing was to much trouble, my sister and I had a lovely experience which was a stressful trip taking my dog for a procedure and was made so much easier with our stay at the stag, we will defiantly be staying here again, everyone was really welcoming.

Friendly staff , good food Despite their published Covid policy stating staff will wear face coverings, none did. Our room was at the back over air conditioning that ran all night so disturbed our sleep.

A good nights sleep
Upon arrival the small car park was full as was the roadside parking which was very restricted due to the location. I have stayed at this property previously when breakfast was ordered the night before, and offered good choices. This system has changed to a help yourself continental style which removed choices previously available. Very comfortable room and great shower.

Super friendly and professional staff were the highlight of our stay. Our room wasn’t the biggest but had everything we needed and it was fresh and in good order. Not the greatest selection for breakfast either but would still recommend
