The cottage is charming and spacious, except for the kitchen which is small with not much work space. It is attractively decorated with local artwork on the walls and quilts on the beds. It was warm and comfortable for us in mid-March, even during a northeaster, and fortunately we didn't lose power. When the sun is out, most of the rooms receive a lot of light. There are nice views across the marsh in back of the house towards the beach, and Good Harbor Beach is an easy walk. While we were there, the marsh was full of birds - Canada geese, mallards, gulls, and red-winged blackbirds - and there were songbirds in the shrubs around the house. Besides the small kitchen, the only negative was that the water takes a long time to heat up. A neighboring house is close on one side, but it and half the other houses on the lane were not occupied this time of year. The owner was very communicative and generously offered us an extra day at no charge because of the storm, though we were unable to take her up on it.
We and our dog enjoyed walking on several beautiful sandy beaches and to the cliffs at Halibut Point. We also visited the Cape Ann Museum in Gloucester which is very good. The cottage made a good base for visiting with family in the greater Boston area and exploring Cape Ann.
