Wonderful 65th birthday celebration at the villa!
The villa was a great way to celebrate my wife’s 65th birthday with our closest friends. When everyone walked into the main house they all asked where the camera crew was coz this was like being at the Bachelor mansion! There was so much to do there that we didn’t have enough time to take advantage of all the amenities like the gym and media room. We had a game night in the wine cave as well as a catered dinner in there and it was amazing! If we had any questions or troubles the staff was quick to respond to all our needs. The house was so spacious and the rooms were as well. Everything was definitely placed for very tall people so if you are on the shorter side like I am then it was a little challenging in some of the bathrooms as the mirrors were hung so high that all I could see of myself when I looked in the mirror was my forehead and the top of my head! And to reach the hooks to hang my towel I had to jump to reach it! It was pretty comical actually. I mentioned this to the staff and they said they thanked me for letting them know and planned to lower them. Thank you to Randy and the staff for keeping me well informed and replying so quickly. It was a wonderful celebration in such a beautiful location!

Perfect Wine Country Home
The Villa and location are absolutely stunning! The pictures are accurate, but do not do the property justice. It is a breath-taking view! Everything from the booking process to checking in was very easy. Randy was very polite, responsive, and accommodating with all of my questions and request. It was raining when we arrived, and Randy grabbed umbrellas for our whole group to do the property tour. No details were overlooked at this property. Chef Tiffany F. came to the house and prepared dinner for us to enjoy in the wine cave. The dinner and ambiance were both spectacular! She catered to our dietary restrictions, and it was the best meal of the whole trip. We used Beau Wine Tours for transportation & Jose was top notch! He arrived early for every reservation, always had a bright smile and was very helpful during our visit. We hope to visit the area again and I can't imagine a better option for a place to stay. Villa Montebella was the best!

Amazing property in California’s wine country
My wife and I spent two nights here and it was absolutely incredible. The property is so stunning, Randy and his team were so attentive and made sure just stay was perfect. I would highly recommend staging here.

Fabulous
This property is Amazing - we had private wine tasting in the wine cave, a chef dinner in the Villa and a Super Bowl party in the media room. The property managers are very responsive, the property is clean and well stocked. Just an fabulous property with too much to list.

Amazing stay

Absolutely fantastic vacation stay
The villa is incredible and had more amenities than we could experience during our 4 day stay. Everything was setup perfectly when we arrived. Communication was fantastic and extremely responsive.

Great Family Vacation
We came to celebrate my parents' 55th wedding anniversary and our group of 12 ranged in age from 6 to 76. We all had a wonderful time and made full use of the home - tennis courts, gym, pool, cave/cellar, movie theater, and more. Randy and Sheryl were very responsive with any issues, and we had a great time. We also enjoyed going to some of the restaurants in town and visiting the Jack London State Park. We would love to return again next year! I would note two things for people thinking about staying: there are lots of steps to get everywhere around the property so if you have any mobility issues, this may not be the best fit. Also, on very hot days, the A/C in the 3 bedrooms in the main house is not very effective and the rooms remain quite warm. Luckily, the heat wave only lasted 2 days during our stay and after that the evenings were cool enough to leave windows open and sleep comfortably. There are also fans available for those rooms.

Thanks for the great review. There is a bit of a design flaw with the main air intake for the upstairs AC being located on a wall behind a sofa and there has to be enough space behind the sofa for air flow. We set boards in place to keep the sofa from being pushed back to close but sometimes we find the boards moved out of the way and the sofa tight against the wall. We'll put a sign in place to explain this to so that people know not to do this. We look forward to hosting you again soon at one of our 5StarVR properties. Randy

Wonderful stay
This place was truly stunning. So many areas to explore, so many fun things to do, and GORGEOUS views. The AC worked great, the wine cave was so fun for family dinner and communication was easy. Would definitely stay here again.

My sister is old!
We had a family birthday to celebrate my sister's 70th birthday. Our family consists of our two grown sons with their wives and one baby - 19 mos. My sister and her partner were the celebrant guests. We LOVED the pool and the wine cave and enjoyed many rounds of competitive shuffleboard etc. The property is ideal for the kind of relaxing we enjoyed...swimming, easy hanging out and game playing. We were sad not to have had longer so we could watch a film or play more of the games! At any rate we think we left everything in good, tidy order. As we own rental property we are always wanting to be respectful of how we leave things! Our only slight comment would be that some of the furnishings are a bit tired and could use a re-fresh which may or may not be on the owners consideration list. We may be pickier than most guests as we have been in the higher end furnishings business for many years and probably have elevated desires in this category. At any rate we loved the home and had a great time. The customer service was off the charts fabulous.

Beautiful Home and Secluded
We were very fortunate to stay at such a beautiful house for our Napa/Sonoma visit. We wish we had more time to use all the amenities the home had to offer. We absolutele were blown away with the wine cave and our last night had a chef dinner. Our group was so happy (and full) that a spontaneous round robin shufflepuck/ping pong tournament broke out after dinner. The property is massive and the best part was being able to retreat to our own invididual buildings/bedrooms for rest and relaxation. We will visit again!

Stunning Views!
The property was gorgeous with privacy for our family of ten with numerous bedroom location on site. The house was clean and tidy. Randy did a wonderful job communicating during process and was prompt with any call during our stay. The Wine Cave was our absolute favorite part as we celebrated a special family birthday dinner celebration on our last night. The only suggestion I would have is perhaps to make some updates in the house, ie: carpet, bathrooms.

10 stars - spectacular!
Our wine-country weekend at Villa Montebella was off the charts. The home is magnificently elegant with dramatic sweeping views from every room. The ameneties and services were all luxurious and the staff went above and beyond. Chef Lisa Cameron prepared a fantastic spread of champagne and appetizers in the wine cave followed by a elegant dinner in the upper dining room. Fantastic, just fantastic. Thanks for such a remarkable weekend!

A great time.
A great time. Villa Montebello was a beautiful property and Randy was very good to deal with. We had a few bumps at the beginning but really took care of them quickly and our stay was fantastic. We had 10 adults and each couple had their own king-size suite with spectacular views. We especially liked the wine cave. We used it for two dinners and a family meeting and numerous evenings playing shuffleboard. A great property and a wonderful long weekend for my entire family.

Great Property with Endless Amenities
Everything about this property was amazing. The view, the house, the amenities. We were visiting Napa and the drive to Glen Ellen wasn’t bad. The host and his wife were so nice and always available by call or text. Our group thoroughly enjoyed the stay and will likely be back. We had Lisa come cook one day as a recommendation from the host and she was amazing. The only critique I have is the AC didn’t always keep up, but that’s California in the summer…not the end of the world. Fantastic property over all with more to offer than we had time for this trip!

A slice of heaven
We stayed with our 2 adult children. With 3 families and a couple kids, the estate was perfect. We gathered in the main house, played and ate together and then each had their own personal space. We LOVED playing tennis, swimming and hanging out in the cave. We took some spectacular pictures with that view! Loved everything!!!

Exceptional stay and experience! We are planning our next trip. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Randy and his team were easy to communicate with snd assisted with all of our needs. The property was amazing! Too much to do so our next trip needs to be longer! We loved everything about the property and enjoyed a private wine tasting snd chefs dinner! Simply amazing!

July 2021 Visit
The property is very nice. The property and location certainly are beautiful, and the wine cave is a true, unique highlight. But I have to give it three stars because the air conditioner in the main house is ineffective when it's hot outside. We stayed in July over three 90 degree+ days and it was routinely above 80 degrees inside the main house. The manager said there was nothing he could do on hot days and suggested we open the windows at night, and there were floor fans throughout the house, so clearly this was a repeat issue. Other vendors who came to the house said it's been a problem there for years. So while it was very nice in theory, I would not stay there in the summer months again, absent a new air conditioner system. Plus some other amenities were odd to use. You have to text the owner when you want the hot tub turned on because it's controlled remotely and shuts off after a few hours. The steam room kept shutting off. And there is no air conditioner at all in the gym, making it unusable in July (it was well over 100 degrees in the gym).

Great Property!
Wonderful home for our group get away. Took advantage of many of the amenities (hot tub, fitness room, tennis, Bocce & theatre), Had a chef prepare dinner in the wine cave for my wife's birthday which was spectacular. Would definitely come back!

Self-contained and Private Estate
There were many activities to pre-occupy guests at the property. Our family members enjoyed the tennis court and the gym as well as taking walks within the property. The hot tub was ready for our group on our arrival. The kitchen was great for making our own meals. Randy had taken the time to purchase our initial grocery list and get them ready for us on our arrival. The different buildings were a plus for having our own private spaces while being easily accessible to all when we wanted to be together. Hearing the birds and watching the sunset were lovely bonuses to us who live in dense city spaces. It was both a relaxing and an envigorating, if brief, 4-night stay.

Gorgeous home ideal for a large group in wine country!
We had a special time at the property with six couples for a 50th birthday weekend. The dinners in the Wine Cave are the highlight. The views and the pool area are beautiful. Be aware it is a very tough and tricky driveway but spectacular once you arrive. Hire chef Perot if he is available, we had two amazing dinners at the home with the personable chef and his crew making it truly special!
