Wie ein König

Wer schon immer mal in einem Schloss leben wollte, ich kann diese Erfahrung nur empfehlen.Die Unterkunft war riesig und sehr hübsch. Das man das Schloss selber erkunden konnte war auch sehr spannend. Glücklichere waren wir genau da als es die Lichternacht mit Kerzen und Artisten gab. Es war ein toller Urlaub und in der Umgebung gab es noch viele ander Schlösser zu sehen.

Wonderful adventure

Such an atmospheric property, filled with echoes of its colourful past. This is not a hotel-like palace but rather a grande-dame of a chateau with all the attendant wrinkles and wear that actually feels like it's been lived in by real families for centuries. We loved the authenticity of the chateau and especially enjoyed prowling the rooms and grounds, the caves, the woods, and the secret garden, and what a treat it was to realize the chateau has an actual moat. There were also so many creative touches to enjoy all across the property like the mystery trail and the carriage collection and the giant chess set where our granddaughter trounced her father. We'd love to return one day to see how the ongoing restoration work has progressed and wish the de Laffon family the very best with their labour of love. Oh and the Host's Table was absolutely delicious.

An absolute privilege to stay at Gizeux

We (two couples) loved our stay at Gizeux. Stéphanie is a generous host with her time and hospitality. Our stay started perfectly with a home cooked meal and stories about the history of the château. Gizeux is an excellent base to explore the Loire and its magnificent châteaux. At the end of the day it was always very special driving back to our very own! The family is doing an incredible job of preserving the château and it was an absolute privilege to make it our home for a few days.

We loved our stay in Gizeux! From the beginning when Manon showed us the apartment through our entire stay, all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the Chateau owner is the best hostess I have ever had, and I've stayed in a lot of VRBO's. I hope to be able to return sometime

An adventure

What a great experience staying in an actual Chateau!! For all the Americans reading this who love history, this is for you. When we pulled up we were absolutely amazed at how big and grand the Chateau was. We had a two bedroom apartment in the main castle. It is drafty and if it’s cold outside you’ll need an extra blanket. It’s a castle!!! The host was really very nice and accommodating and we got in late and didn’t have time to stop for food because everything was closed…. Stephanie went out early and bought us Crescents and coffee…. And Jam! Soooo nice!! The best part?? You can walk around the entire Chateau and explore on your own…. No crowds or escorts…. My teenagers loved it…. It was like a adventure. I highly recommend it.

A Jewel in Loire Valley

Rent the lovely apartment with genuinely caring and thoughtful host, Stephanie, who lives on the property and who will provide all assistance. The apartment is gorgeous and the estate and chateaux are magnificent. We cannot recommend VRBO as a service as they are borderline fraudulent, deceptive, unprofessional, uncaring and reckliess.

Truly a chateau experience

We had thought maybe the lovely rooms we saw in photos were public areas--not our rental. But no, we were in regal surroundings in our own private "home." We were welcomed by the owner, herself. We pinched ourselves every day and night we spent there.

Very large property and castle in the village of Gizeux

Excellent. We had so much fun here. The owners are very kind and answered all our questions. We visited many castles during our stay and found that this castle was in a ideally central location for our day trips. It worked out very well.
