Wonderful!
The location was idyllic and the view stunning! Ernesto greeted us with olive oil, grapes from his vineyard, cheese, meats, bread, olives water and his delicious wine from his private stock. What a lovely eay to be introduced to the Etna area. Ernesto was very responsive to all our requests -a gracious host! Highly recommend!

Natur pur mit traumhaftem Blick
Etwas abgelegen, aber das macht den Ort aus. Toller Blick auf das Meer und den Ätna. Das Haus ist großzügig geschnitten. Wir haben uns wohl gefühlt und können es empfehlen.

Casa Rosa in Zafferana Etnea
Ein schönes Haus mit einer sensationelle Aussicht bis zum Meer und zum Ätna. Sehr sauber, sehr freundliche Vermieterinnen und Ernesto, von dem man Schlüssel und eine umfangreiche Einweisung bekommt, ist einfach ein Schatz. Ein rundum gelungener Urlaub.

Accueil parfait dans un endroit superbe
La location correspond à l’annonce, l’accueil d’Ernesto est très sympa avec pleins de bonnes petites surprises (marmelade, fruits, pain ...). La vue est superbe avec l’etna juste à côté. Le gîte est très bien équipé avec tout à disposition. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour. Encore merci à Ernesto.

Idylle am Ätna
Idyllisches Bauernhaus mit Garten und Weingut und sehr schönem Blick auf den Ätna, auf das Meer und die benachbarten Dörfer. Allein und ruhig gelegen. Sehr netter und hilfsbereiter Gastgeber. Wir haben uns dort sehr wohlgefühlt.

Out of this world
The photos don't do it justice, this place is INCREDIBLE. The views are totally out of this world - Mount Etna on one side, and you look out over what feels like the whole of Sicily on the other. I watched the sun rise one morning and couldn't believe my eyes. Truly stunning. Ernesto is the sweetest man, he left us fresh bread, local cheeses, fruit, his own olive oil (the best we tasted), beer, his own white wine (delicious) and lots of goodies for when we arrives which was so kind. He so showed us the cherry trees in the orchard and said we could help ourselves which was a particular highlight for the kids. Before we went I told him my son really wanted to come to Italy and pick lemons, he'd harvested his lemon trees before our trip but saved some on one tree for my children, they were over the moon and I was so touched. The house is incredibly well kitted out, had everything we needed and totally beautiful, I felt like I was in a movie the whole time. Don't hesitate to book this place, we had the trip of a lifetime and made such special memories in this house. Thank you Ernesto for everything you did for us.

Schönes Bauernhaus am Ätna
Wir haben insgesamt 13 Tage in dieser schönen Unterkunft verbracht. Die Lage mitten in den Weinbergen ist toll, ebenso wie der Blick sowohl auf das Meer als auch auf den Ätna (wenn er denn nicht in Wolken ist). Die Anfahrt aus Petrulli über den schmalen Weg ist noch in Ordnung, allerdings nur mit einem normalen Auto. Tiefergelegte Sportwagen haben hier nichts verloren. Gewöhnungsbedürftig ist dagegen die Einfahrt auf das Gelände sowie die Ausfahrt. Aufgrund einer Wand gegenüber muss man schon heftig rangieren, aber Übung macht den Meister. Hervorzuheben ist der Gastgeber Ernesto. Freundliche Begrüßung mit einem Korb Lebensmittel für die erste Zeit. Ausführliche Erklärung des Hauses und der Einrichtung. Er war auch bei kleineren Problemen wie etwa einer leeren Gasflasche für den Gas-Beistellofen sofort zur Stelle. Für Reisende, die eine ruhige Unterkunft in der Natur am Ätna suchen, ist die Casa Rosa ideal. Und trotz der Abgeschiedenheit ist Zafferana Etnea mit seinen Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Restaurants und Cafés nur ca. 8 Autominuten entfernt.

Beautiful house and great host
We had a wonderful time and were warmly greated by the host Ernesto, who not only gave us a lot of useful recommendations but was so nice to provide us with fresh fruits and vegetables, some drinks and local specialities. The house is beautifully located at the top of a vineyard with a great view. We will definetely try to return to Casa Rosa as soon as possible :)

wunderbare Unterkunft
Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Zeit in diesem Ferienhaus, es ist abgelegen und bietet eine erstklassige Sicht auf die Ätna und auf das Meer. Sauberkeit und Ausstattung sind super, alles vorhanden was man braucht. Zufahrt mit einem PKW ohne Probleme, mit Bus oder Camper nicht möglich. Der Empfang durch Ernesto und die Erklärungen/Tipps zu Ausflügen/Märkten etc in Nähe sind sehr herzlich. Wir kommen gerne wieder, absoluter Geheimtipp.

A wonderful and tranquil stay
We had an absolutely amazing time at Casa Rosa. If you are looking to unplug and be amongst nature and silence, this is the place to be. The house itself is beautifully restored, it looks just like the photos. It is equipped with everything you could possible need. We loved the yard and surrounding area of vineyard and fruit trees. Every morning waking up and watching the sunrise over the sea was bliss, a sight we will never forget. This was a perfect stay for us and our 2 young children, lots of room inside and out. The hosts Ernesto and Maria very kind and warm. They were quick to respond to any questions and even stocked the kitchen for our arrival. I cannot say enough about this unique accommodation- we hope to return!

Charmant accueil du propriétaire. Nous y étions 15 jours. Maison de campagne proche de Zafferana aux pieds de lEtna. Idéal pour aller à Taormine, Catane, Syracuse. Ferme aux ânes ASILA à 1 km en traversant la forêt. Plage de San Marco très bien. Prévoir répulsif moustiques. Nombreux bons restaurants et possibilités de courses

Het huis is mooi in de natuur gelegen.; rustig maar niet afgelegen. O.a. de hop hebben we gespot. We hebben iedere dag weer genoten van de tuin met het prachtig uitzicht. Het nabij gelegen plaatsje Zafferana Etnea is een gezellige plaatsje waar alles voorhanden is. Vanuit deze locatie zijn er meerdere activiteiten te ondernemen. Taormina (0,5 hr; parkeermogelijkheid en verder gratis met de pendelbus naar het centrum. Slenteren door straatjes en een bezoek aan het griekse theater) en Syracuse (1,5 hr; Parc archeologico NeaPolis en het schiereiland Orthiga) zijn de moeite waard. Verder verschillende tochten naar de Etna bijvoorbeeld met gids voor meer achtergrond informatie over de vulkaan . Ook is er de mogelijkheid om met de kabinelift omhoog te gaan en daar wandelingen te maken.

Empfang und Begleitung während des Aufenthaltes sehr angenehm, aufmerksam und unkompliziert. Das Haus ist wunderbar, einfach ausgestattet, aber sehr sauber und es ist alles da, was man für einen schönen Aufenthalt benötigt . Die Lage ist traumhaft , die Terrasse ebenso . Alles sehr empfehlenswert!

Landhaus mit Blick auf Ätna und Meer
Herrlicher Weitblick auf Meer und Ätna. Nach Sonnenuntergang die beste Kulisse für ein romantisches Abendessen im Garten zu den Lichtern der tiefer gelegenen Strassen und Gebäude. Sehr ruhig gelegen. Mit PKW ist Zafferana mit seinen Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und als Ausgangspunkt für Touren gut erreichbar. Einzige Schwierigkeit ist der Schotterweg zum Haus, der nicht viel breiter als ein grösserer PKW ist. Der Fahrweg wird selten benutzt und Ausweichstellen sind vorhanden. Wir waren aber froh, in der Woche unserer Anwesenheit keinem Fahrzeug zu begegnen. Der Vermieter kümmert sich mit viel Hingabe ganz reizend um die Wünsche der Gäste, z.B. mit Empfehlungen für Ausflüge, Touren, Einkauf etc. Sein Willkommensgeschenk erspart den Einkauf mindestens fürs Abendessen und eine Mahlzeit. Das Haus ist sympathisch eingerichtet. Nicht jedermanns Sache dürfte der alte Geschirrschrank in der Küche sein. Für uns war er völlig i.O. Sehr gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Wir werden wiederkommen.

Einfaches, charmantes Haus mit toller Sicht auf Meer und Etna
Man muss sich auf eine holprige Zufahrt einstellen, aber der Empfang und Einführung durch Ernesto sind jedoch sehr herzlich, auf dem Küchentisch lagen zur Begrüssung Käse, Oliven, Brot und Wein sowie Früchte! Das Haus hat einen einfachen Standard, in der Küche hat's jedoch, was man zum selber Kochen benötigt (wenn auch der Küchenschrank etwas unübersichtlich ist und von Überflüssigem entlastet werden könnte). Wir hatten wettermässig Pech (kalt und Regen obwohl Mitte Mai) und konnten den Umschwung leider nicht nutzen. Das Heizen über ein Kaminfeuer ist ziemlich aufwendig und die zwei Elektroradiatoren vermögen nur leicht zu temperieren. Bei warmen Wetterverhältnissen kann das Haus dank seiner Aussicht und der Lage unbedingt empfohlen werden und ist z.B. ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen am Etna.

Wir haben im März-April 2019 2 tolle Wochen in der Casa rosa verbracht. Ernesto hat uns sehr freundlich empfangen und stand uns bei Bedarf mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. Die Zufahrtsstrasse ist zwar etwas holprig und eng, aber dafür ist die Lage schön und die Aussicht toll.

Grandiose Aussicht in sagenhafter Stille
Das Haus bietet einen einmaligen Blick auf Ätna und die Ebene von Giarre und liegt inmitten von Weinbergen und Obstbaum-Terrassen. Die Ausstattung ist gut - es fehlt an nichts. Die Wohnküche ist komfortable und hat einen eigenen Zugang zum großen Garten. Bei unserer Ankunft war der Kühlschrank mit frischem Gemüse und Käse aus der Region gefüllt, es gab Obst, selbstgemachte Marmelade, Olivenöl aus eigener Produktion und frisches Brot. Das hatten wir bisher noch nie erlebt. Der Vermieter nahm sich viel Zeit, uns alle Details des Hauses zu erklären und empfahl uns verschiedene Restaurants, die allesamt exzellent waren. Die Schlafzimmer im OG sind geräumig - eines hat ca. 50 m² mit einem Doppelbett und 2 Einzelbetten, das andere hat etwa 16 m², das dritte befindet sich im EG und ist auch Wohnzimmer. Das Haus ist ziemlich hellhörig - das sollte bei der Belegung der Schlafzimmer bedacht werden. Die Zufahrtstraße zum Haus verlangt eine gewisse Fahrparxis und gute Reifen. Das Haus ist ein Traum in den wärmeren Monaten. Wir waren jedoch zu einer kühlen Jahreszeit dort; es gibt eine Heizung, die über den Kamin befeuert wird. Mit dessen Betrieb sollte man sich auskennen und über den Räucherduft, der sich in Küche, Kaminraum und dem darüberliegenden Schlafzimmer breit macht, hinwegsehen bzw. gut lüften. Außerdem gibt es 2 Radiatoren, von denen wir einen zum Heizen des Bads benutzt haben. Dadurch war es in dem Raum schön warm.

Traumnhafte Lage mit wunderschönem Haus und Garten
Unseren 1-wöchigen Aufenhalt mit Kleinkind haben wir in dem tollen Haus und dem schönen Garten (mit ganztägigem Schatten unter der großen Eiche) hat uns sehr gefallen. Der Gastgeber war ausgesprochen nett und hat uns sowohl mit Tipps und auch lokalen Spezialitäten toll versorgt. Vom Garten konnten wir nicht nur die tollen Bucht sondern auch den liebgewonnenen Ätna ausgiebig bestaunen. Die etwas abseits gelegene Lage (mit zugegebenermassen leicht holpriger Strasse) waren für uns kein Nachteil sondern aufgrund der Ruhe ein absoluter Gewinn. Die kleine Stadt Zaffarena ist jedoch in Fussweite (10 min) und mit Auto sehr schnell zu erreichen.

Authentisches Häuschen am Fuße des Ätna
Wunderschönes, stilvoll renoviertes Haus mit einem traumhaften Garten, der einen tollen Blick auf den Ätna und auf das Meer zulässt. Der Vermieter ist sehr freundlich und kümmert sich um alle Bedürfnisse. Er gibt auch gerne wertvolle Tipps für Ausflüge. Als Willkommensgeschenk hatte der Vermieter ein leckeres Abendessen mit Brot, Oliven, Käse und Wein vorbereitet. Auch sonst ist im Haus alles vorhanden (z.B. Seife, Spülmittel, Wasser, Nudeln und Gewürze). Die sehr schmale und steinige Zufahrtsstraße ist allerdings eine Herausforderung und man kann froh sein, wenn einem niemand entgegenkommt.

!A wet February
This property is set up in the hills with spectacular views to the sea one way and mount etna the other. We were unfortunate to pick the wettest week of the year, but with the cosy stove in the lounge, which also heats the radiators around the house, this was not a problem. We were greeted with some fresh bread, local cheeses, olives and the owner's own olive oil. A delicious snack rounded off with a bottle of the owner's own wine. The villa is down an unmade track, but although this looked quite scary, our hired corsa coped very well with it. The air is slightly cooler up in the hills, so apparently this is ideal in the very hot summer months. There is a lovely garden with a barbecue - but unfortunately we did not have the weather to enable us to enjoy it.

Lovely house with rustic charm. Great outside space and amazing views.
Comfortable little house which was well equipped for a holiday stay. Excellent store cupboard and lovely fresh local provisions provided by the owner, Ernesto. There is plenty of local information available and Ernesto is keen to ensure that you have what you need. There is a Tourist Office in Zafferano which also has a range of supermarkets, small shops, restaurants and bars. The house provides an excellent base for touring the major sites. Taormina is very accessible as are many small coastal towns. Etna, above the house, is ever changing and there are many interesting walks in the area as well as to the busier Refugios. We had a lovely stay here and would recommend the house and the owner's kind attention. Wifi works well.

Ein wunderschönes Anwesen mit herrlichem Ausblick!
Ernesto begrüßte uns mit Wein, Bier, Brot, Tomaten, Eiern und Obst. Er ist ein sehr aufmerksamer Gastgeber, gab viele Tipps und erklärte uns sehr geduldig das komplizierte Müllsystem. Er kam ab und zu vorbei, brachte Trauben mit und fragte, ob alles in Ordnung sei. Das altes Landhaus liegt inmitten der Weinberge, umgeben von einem Garten mit einem Ausblick auf das Tal und das Meer. Abends sieht man tausende Lichter funkeln. Ein Anblick, der uns drei Wochen begeisterte. Das Haus ist schlicht mit einer besonderen Atmosphäre. Er ist mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht. Es liegt abseits von Straßen und es ist absolut ruhig, abgesehen von den Schafen in der Nachbarschaft. Im Ort Zafferana findet man gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und einige Restaurants. Es gibt Eisdielen und mitten im Ort einen schönen Platz mit mehreren Cafés und Restaurants. Ein Auto ist unbedingt erforderlich und sollte nicht zu breit sein, sonst kann man nicht in die Hauseinfahrt fahren. Wir haben unseren Urlaub dort sehr genossen und bedanken uns bei Ernesto für seine Gastfreundschaft. Susanne aus Berlin

Zwischen Aetna und Meer
Einsam gelegen, sehr individuell direkt auf dem Ätna. Ideal, um den Ätna von allen Seiten zu erkunden. Den Hang hinunter der Blick auf das Meer und hinterm Haus der Blick auf den Ätna. Im Haus ist alles vorhanden, was man braucht. Es ist rustikal und romantisch. Ernesto, der Vermieter, ist sehr sympathisch, immer hilfsbereit und gibt viele gute Tips zum Erdunden der Gegend.

Words cannot do Ernesto's farmhouse justice, idyllic, peaceful, charming. If you are going to this part of the island I doubt you will find a better place to stay. Ernesto is the perfect host, he left us his wine, homemade jams, bread and salami and gave us all the information needed to explore the area. I wish we were still there!

Nice and quiet farmhouse with great panorama
Ernesto is a great host, available and helpful. In a quiet neighbourhood, the farmhouse is nice and has great surrounding garden and terrific panorama over Etna and sea coast. Outside breakfast and coffee time areas are also very cute & kitchen has everything you would need. The relatively difficult access road is more than balanced by all described advantages of the property. Everything needed you can buy in the 2 vicinity villages.

The perfect italian experience!!
We are a family of 4, with a 5 and a 9 years old. We were looking for a place with plenty of space for the kids to play and run freely without bothering anyone, a place with a view and a place where we could just relax listening to just the sounds of nature. Ernesto's house had all that and more! It was just perfect! And beautiful since we got there in time to see all the cherry trees in full bloom. The house itself is very comfortable and my husband enjoyed very much getting in touch with his inner manhood via lightening the fire every night, thought the house was warm enough without it. We made barbecues and breakfasted looking at the sea.There is wi-fi, so the kids were also entertained in between our trips around the east side of Sicily (the west coast is too far away for day trips) and after exploring the different paths that run around the house itself. Mount Etna was practically just behind us and Ernesto gave us some tips to save up on expensive pre-arranged tours up there. He also provided a feast of locally produced tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, olives and wine on our first day, which was just great. We couldn't recommend the place enough. It truly is an Italian experience, far from other tourists and boring hotels with overcrowed pools. Even the (very) bumpy and narrow road that takes you to the house was quite an experience - just don't hire a big car!

Schitterende locatie
Door de eigenaar zijn wij zeer gastvrij ontvangen. Op de tafel in de keuken stonden een aantal heerlijke streekproducten. De woning is prima gerenoveerd maar niet luxe ingericht. Zo mist er een afwasmachine. Gezellige woon/eetkamer met open haard. De open haard doet tevens dienst als centrale verwarming, waardoor de woning in de wintermaanden kil is.(er staat een gaskachel om de woon/eetkamer te verwarmen). Bij aankomst zijn de bedden fris opgemaakt. De woning is schoon. Er is Wifi aanwezig. Vanaf het terras is er een fantastisch uitzicht op de zee en op de Etna. Voor mensen die van rust en ruimte houden is deze boerderij een echte aanrader.

A wonderful house in a wonderful location
For us the house lived up to all the other 5 star reviews. In winter, when the clouds lift to reveal it, the summit of Etna looming behind the house is an imposing sight whilst the Ionian sea in front of the house is constantly changing colour as the light shifts. The house has been renovated to the highest standard. It has lovely artisan terracotta tiles and cherry wood beams and floors. All the furniture and fittings have been chosen and fitted with great skill and care. Everything is totally in keeping with a Sicilian farmhouse. The only sounds floating up from the plain below the house are those of church bells from the nearest villages. Nearer to the house, dogs, cockerels and the tinkling of sheep bells; lovely country sounds against a back drop of peace and tranquility. Tending the fire in winter is something of a hobby. In winter you can be nice and warm in front of the fire but the heating only takes the chill off the rest of the house. As long as you're prepared to wear a few layers it's fine. The welcome from Ernesto was as others have described. He is extremely helpful and nice. The fire was lit to welcome us when we arrived, along with wine, olive oil and other essentials. Nervous drivers should note that the road to the house is narrow and made of rough stones. If you're heading to destinations along the coast use the A18 toll road to go North / south and then drop down to your destination. Much of the coast road is busy and built up and driving along it is slow and stressful. Any one who who enjoys peace, beautiful surroundings and views will love this house. It is also very well placed for getting to see the Etna national park and the coast. The two nearest settlements Zafferana and Milo are both charming places and Zafferna has very good supermarkets. A beautiful old farmhouse in Sicily!!!!
Our stay at Ernesto's farm house was very pleasant.. The pictures does not do it justice.It is filled with good spirits. The kitchen is well equipped for producing good meals. Upon our arrival we were welcomed with wine (made by Ernesto) fresh cheeses, bread, olive oil (made by Ernesto) a basket of tomatoes, peppers,Sicilian lemons,lettuce, grapes, and apples. The views from the yard both day and night are truly beautiful.. I would highly recommend staying at this farmhouse.. Thank you Ernesto for your warm hospitality. Deborah and Lawrence Maissen
