While I appreciate the hosts responsiveness, this stay did not meet basic standards for cleanliness or habitability, particularly given the holiday pricing.Upon arrival, there was a significant indoor insect issue throughout the cabin, including live bugs on the walls, ceiling, window blinds, furniture, and personal items. Bugs crawled on me while sitting on the couch, one entered my child’s dinner, and another was found on my toothbrush. Bugs were visibly moving across surfaces and falling from overhead areas, as shown in the photos.Because of these conditions, I was unable to stay in the cabin with my child the first night and had to book a last-minute hotel at an additional cost of approximately 300, while still paying the full holiday rate for the cabin. Due to New Year’s week availability, no alternative lodging was available and returning home was not feasible.To make the cabin minimally tolerable, I purchased a vacuum, insect sprays, cleaning supplies, and ultimately slept inside a tent placed on the bed. Despite this, bugs continued to crawl on the tent and belongings, and the vacuum quickly filled with insects. We spent most days outside the cabin and returned only to sleep.Although the issue was acknowledged, no refund or rate adjustment was provided. While insects may be common in the area, the volume and persistence indoors exceeded what is reasonable for a paid accommodation, especially for a child.
