  • The Skipper is a bright yellow Gulf Coast beach home on stilts, offering stunning ocean views and direct access to a quiet, car-free beach. This second-row retreat comfortably sleeps 6 guests, featuring a fully equipped kitchen, spacious deck, and outdoor shower. Enjoy a peaceful escape just 20 mins from Galveston's attractions, with a grocery store next door. Perfect for families, couples or small groups seeking a relaxing beach getaway.

    Inside, the open-concept living, dining, and kitchen area keeps your group connected, all while offering stunning ocean views. This comfortable home sleeps up to 6 guests across two bedrooms with three queen beds. Whether you're cooking a meal, watching a movie, or playing a game, you'll find everything you need for a relaxing coastal getaway.

    • Best for up to 5 adults (plus children). We've hosted many happy parties of six adults, but with one bathroom and our seating layout, up to five adults is the sweet spot.
    • Single-story home and lower to the ground than most beach houses. The outdoor stairway is open-air but partially covered by the roof overhang.
    • Limited infant gear — the home is not set up for babies. The house guide has local equipment rental info.
    • Checkout chores — guests are asked to handle a few light tasks to help us turnover quickly and keep costs down. You can opt out for a small fee we send to our cleaners.
    • Wi-Fi is provided via cable internet. We can't guarantee third-party signal quality, though it is generally reliable.

The property was welcoming and very clean. Lots of little touches and items that were extremely appreciated such as coffee, soaps, use of washer and drier and spices. We do hope to return some day. Thank you.

The Skipper beach house is a very nice “Just the right size” place. My family and I truly loved the location, size, and cleanliness of the beach house! Just a short walk to the beach! So nice to have everything we needed in the kitchen, and bathrooms! Bedrooms are nice, and mattresses are comfy! Will rent again next vacation!

The host was very communicative and didn't require many clean-up tasks. I was worried that not being directly on the ocean front would be a major downside but you could still see and hear it anytime you wanted. You can drive right to the beach and park for free with all your stuff. The host had beach chairs, towels, boogie boards - pretty much everything you need for a nice relaxing beach day. I would stay there again!

Fantastic house, steps from the beach

Such a wonderful place to stay and enjoy the beach. Everything we needed was provided, well stocked kitchen, comfortable porch to watch the sunrise and plenty of beach toys and chairs. Would stay here again.

Anniversary Trip

We stayed at the Skipper for our 40th anniversary. The house was very nice, clean and comfortable. You could see the beach and ocean while sitting outside or inside which were great. The host kept in contact making sure we had everything we needed. The house is great for a couple to stay or a small family. We really enjoyed our stay here

Peaceful and private

This adorable cottage has everything you’ll need for a fun and relaxing stay at the shore. The charming decor, well-equipped kitchen and excellent communication with the owners made our stay comfortable and worry-free. The neighborhood is quiet but not too far away from all the attractions of the area. I’d come back in a heartbeat!

This is a beautiful little house tucked away from it all. Perfect location in every aspect. Walking distance to the main town, supermarket and, either side, local tavernas. Kostas organised a quad for us which was perfect. The swimming pool was the best way to start the day and to end it too. Also, my husband loved watering the roses that were planted.

Lovely place with great hosts

Cute and comfortable house with incredible view of the water. Kitchen was well stocked, good sized bathroom and hosts were so helpful and attentive. Very quiet area. Also everything you need for a day at the beach.

Close to the Beach

This was a great “close to the beach” house. Just a short walk down the road and you’re ready for the waves. The hosts were super attentive and even checked on us a couple times. Makes you feel like you’re more than just a rental fee. Thanks!

Nice getaway

This is our second time to stay here. The property is clean and had everything we needed. It is just a quick walk over to the beach. The owners were very quick to respond and made sure we did not need anything. Will definitely be back!

Cozy beach house with a view

Our week at The Skipper was just what we wanted. A nice, clean and cozy house, close to the water and a deck with a view. Just a quick walk from the second row to the beach for the sunrise, mornings on the deck enjoying the sights and sounds, again an easy walk to spend the day on the private beach and evenings enjoying the area. The house was clean & stocked with plenty of the household items needed for our stay. A variety of beach items were also available for our use.The neighborhood is close to a grocery and restaurants and everyone living/staying were very friendly.

Great Stay

We had a wonderful weekend at the Gulf Palms even though it rained. There were games to play and lot of choices on the Roku. The kitchen was well stocked and provided all the tools we needed for several meals that we prepared. When the sun came out we were so close to the beach and enjoyed fishing and splashing in the waves. My favorite part of the trip was sitting on the porch enjoying the view and sound of the waves.

Great Family Getaway!!!

The property owner Maria was extremely helpful and ensured that all needs were met to accommodate our family of 4😇 She met us on arrival and gave me walk-thru of property. The house was clean and all essentials were readily available; towels, cleaning supplies, kitchen supplies, etc. Kid friendly with games and seating. Our daughter enjoyed the candy & toys that she left for us to enjoy. Beach was literally a 2-3 min walk away with ocean views from living room space. Great Beach House for our Family Getaway!!!

Great place to stay!

Everything was as advertised & very clean. We really enjoyed our 6 night stay and Maria and Paul were very outstanding in getting us checked in and out and dealing with a couple of problems. Door electronic lock failed and locked us out. Backup for that. I booked us short a day and they handled that.Place is really nice inside and out. If I have any complaints at all it is with the bed. Too hard. Sara really hated it. We only tried the one in the master.Lots of extra we hadn't counted on and a great view from the deck. We will be going back.

Awesome Jamaica Beach Retreat

Our stay at The Skipper was nothing less than awesome! The location is away from the congestion of Galveston but close enough for easy access. The home itself was perfect for my wife and I but could easily handle two more adults. It is well equipped and is furnished with very up to date furniture and appliances. And it is kept SPOTLESS! My wife and I have stayed in a few rentals in the past couple of years and while they were all clean, The Skipper was truly spotless. We were most impressed. The view off the front deck/porch is great. The beach and ocean front is clearly visible and very easily accessible. And it is quiet. We spent quite a bit of time on the front deck just relaxing - watched the full moon rise and heard nothing but a few gulls and the music of the ocean. Fantastic! A couple of other notes. The hosts, Paul and Maria, include a multi-page document which outlines all of the information you need when staying...wifi information, local restaurant and shopping info, different paths to the beach, local beach regulations, and so on. It was extremely helpful. Also, they were very quick to respond to the two questions we had...responded within the hour on a Sunday! Paul and Maria, thanks for a great stay and count on us making a return trip!
