Tiki Family Vacation

Really nice house to have kids and grandkids for a little summer fun. Fishing the canals, boating, and just relaxing to enjoy each other's company. The only problem we encountered is the listing is for a propane gas grille. The grille is charcoal, and in the garage needing some love. Ended up going to a friend's house to do our outdoor cooking.

Property location is beautiful. Property furnishings needs updating. 4 of the 8 dining chairs were broken and 2 fell out from under us. (we are not obese. I weigh 150 lbs and antiquated chair collapsed on me trying to sit down) Many other unsafe issues like naked uncovered GFC wires next to canal water and tandem power strips in a tangle attaching to the modem which appear 30 years old and required a hard reset of power strip to get power to modem. I have not seen these kind of power strips for decades. he kitchen sink faucet appeared to be almost disconnecting falling off sink fixture. Great views and loved being on the water. A minimal investment in fixing broken things and new chairs and or furniture would go a long way. This is the 3rd rental I've done on TIKI and its always a wonderful place to visit. I hope they fix things so I can go back. I have pictures of everything broken but would be mean to post them.

Location and house were beautiful!!

What an amazing place!!! Such an amazing island and the canals and bay are priceless!!! Internet doesn’t work the way they say or at all. Master tv is just for the pictures. House quirky but cute. We genuinely loved every minute.

The Hide away

The home was rundown, many items broken or rotted completely. Items include broken toilet seats, leaking roof, exposed electrical shock hazard, broken mirror, active roaches, down stairs bar was a disaster, nasty leaking shower heads, no wifi access, and worst of all the coffee maker didn't work!!! I will never rent a home through here again. I contacted management and all I got was a sorry we will fix it. I have pictures which were submitted to management.

Okay stay but property condition not quite as pictures showed

The property is at a great location, right on the canals and right next to Galveston island. The neiborhood feels safe and quiet, and the rooms are reasonably clean. However, I do hope to note a few things that would make me consider before booking the property again in the future: 1. The interior is notably dimmer than the pics shown. 2. The leather sofa set (master bedroom and 2 pieces in living room) are older than in the pics and honestly look dirty, the master living room also had a notable odor as we enter it which was likely from the area rug. 3. The coffee maker needs some thorough cleaning, there's coffee powder remnants floating in the water compartment, and the water intake spot has build-up and notable smell. 4. The property is advertised to sleep 8 but bed space already feels limited for us (5 adults 2 small kids). The 2 queen beds felt more like full size, and the sofa "beds" are not pull-out beds and simply otherwise too short for an adult. 5. There is a big crack on the top section of one of the mirrors in the master bathroom, we were a little concerned it might fall out and had to make sure the kids stayed away from that area. 6. This is probably evident from the pictures but there is no range hood or other types of ventilation in the kitchen, this would be somewhat limiting for those of us who enjoy still being able to cook ourselves when travelling on vacation.

Quick Business trip

The property was really nice and very spacious. The kitchen was perfect for having meals and the bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and perfect. It was a perfect location. The only one thing I would want for the future would be a gas grill rather than the charcoal grill, but otherwise it was perfect.

Great place on Tiki Island!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There aren't many places you can rent on Tiki Island but this one has become our favorite. I have stayed here many times over the years and have never been disappointed. The master bedroom/bathroom is certainly interesting but there is a TON of room and it is a great space. The living room and kitchen are all you need. The upstairs bedrooms are small but good enough and they share a nice bathroom. There is a huge deck outside and a boat slip and dock area to hang out and fish. There are some great fishing areas close by if you have a boat. We actually got to meet the owners and they are fantastic people. Highly recommend this house for families and fisherman.

Neat house, falling apart

House was in a great area/neighborhood and had an old school feel. Good dock to fish off of. A/C was not working upstairs and felt like a sauna for the entire stay. No water pressure in the showers. Toilets downstairs in master backed up. Roaches running through living room. Ants at our food in the kitchen on the first night.

Very disappointed with house and management company

I do not recommend this house to anyone with a boat, people who go barefoot inside the house, people with sensitivity to dust, or people expecting to grill. The listing said there was a gas grill (shown in the pictures located in the garage). However, when we got there, there was no gas grill at all. The management company was informed, but we heard nothing back about it. The listing also said there is a dock we could use for our boat. However, upon arrival, we found the boat lift was not functioning and the straps were raised so that we could not put our boat in the slip and had to tie up to the outside of the dock. We contacted the management company several times with both phone and text, but were never able to speak to anyone who could help us with this problem. The black covering on the steps and upstairs deck discolors shoes, and everyone’s crocs ended up completely black on the bottom. Normally we use (non-marking) crocs on our boat, but because of the discoloration were unable to do so without leaving our boat filthy. The floors inside the house needed to be mopped. Everyone was barefoot in the house, and within half an hour, all the soles of our feet were black. The refrigerator smelled of fish. There is a lot of breakables and picture frames on the tables and dressers throughout the house. This meant there wasn’t a lot of free space to put our belongings on, and lots of places for dust to collect. The house in general is a darker than the photos on the listing lead you to believe. The master bedroom is very dark because the hurricane shutters are down and could not be raised.
