Our family rented The Happy Mullet in Late September.The hosts sent us an email very soon thanking us for renting and giving us info we’d need. We called the day of to get in a little early and they were very gracious and let us go ahead and go to the house. We walked in and the view of the ocean was amazing!! The house was the perfect size for 6 adults and two littles. Talk about stocked! From the kitchen to the bathrooms to beach chairs, toys, wagons…We will definitely stay at the Happy Mullet again.

This place was great! The view is spectacular and all the rooms are super comfortable. It had everything we needed and more. Plenty of comfy furniture, well-stocked kitchen and bathrooms. It was spacious enough for the six of us (including an infant and a two-year-old), plus two dogs. The stairs are even carpeted, which makes them so much easier for a toddler and dogs to navigate. Getting to the beach is a short walk over a little bridge, and the water was even blue-ish for us! If you know Galveston over the years, it’s not always like this. The beach wasn’t crowded and there were plenty of toys, etc. available for our use at the house. Their written instructions/info were very comprehensive, too. We did utilize the Pointe West pools, which was fun. I did have to call the owner to figure out how to work the thermostat, but he was very gracious and helpful. It’s a funky thermostat, though. I’ve never seen one that operates like that. Whoever invented it needs a course in common sense, maybe. I’d highly recommend this place. The whole experience was fun and relaxing for us (as relaxing as a trip with an infant and toddler can be!) We would definitely go back.

Wonderful family vacation

The property is as advertised. We came with 3 couples and 2 kids which gave us all our own space. The kids loved their room with the bunk beds and games/technology provided. Appreciated all the beach chairs, toys and wagons for transport. Beach access was very easy and convenient. Fire pit was great for s'mores. Owners were very responsive to all inquiries. Look forward for booking this property for next summer.

Me and the family stayed at the Happy Mullet the first week of August 2025 and I can't tell you how great this place was for us! From the video games and bunk beds upstairs for the grand kids, to the balcony overlooking the beach and the fully stocked kitchen and outdoor activities all set up in the garage with the bikes and grill. This place was PERFECT for our little family getaway!The check in process was super simple! The wifi worked great, and the location could NOT be beat! The AC works extremely well and we were all very comfortable!If you have a family or just want to be close to the beach in a great and quiet neighborhood, this is the PERFECT place. I hope we're able to do this again next year!

4th of July Family Trip

This home is beautiful. The location is wonderful with a very nice neighborhood location. It felt very safe and was extremely clean and well kept. We seriously enjoyed the golf cart parade the morning of the 4th. We never left the back deck for the holiday as there were fireworks on the beach. What a great place to spend the day! The home itself was wonderfully decorated, lacking nothing major that we couldn’t live without for a few days. The kids really enjoyed the video games in the bunk room and although we never used them, the garage area has everything you could possibly need. My only complaints about the home: The air conditioner was set to reset itself at 74 every night. While this is not, in itself, overly warm on the bottom floor where the thermostat is it leaves the upper floor where, the bedrooms are, in the upper 70s at night. Sleeping hot is very uncomfortable. The ability to control this would have been preferable. We tried several times to turn it down at night but it would always turn itself back up. Very frustrating. Also, the latch on the door leading to the upper deck is unusable due to salt water corrosion. The only way to keep the door closed is to dead bolt it, so we were not able to use the upper deck. We never took advantage of the pool area so I cannot comment on any of that area.

Fun, family trip

Our week staying at the Friendly Mullet was a fun, family trip. The quiet neighborhood, clean beach, and calm gulf water was great for small children. The rental was well stocked with all essential items and the gulf view from the covered patios was relaxing. The use of the beach chairs, wagon, and toy dump trucks were appreciated. We swam at the two pools each one time for a change of pace from the beach. Thanks for the opportunity to stay in your rental home!

Family beach vacation

This makes our 3rd stay at the Happy Mullet! Twice through VRBO and once direct through homeowners when we couldn’t stay the full 7 nights. It suits all our needs especially with teens. We also have a Yorkie and were able to bring her this trip since the home is dog friendly. Love that it is beach front and close to the walkover. We have made many memories here and we will be back!

This property is as advertised and has easy access to the beach as well as lots of amenities to make our stay more enjoyable.Sand Toys for the kids, a wagon to haul your beach supplies, beach umbrellas and beach chairs, etc.So that keeps from having to haul all of that from home!

A Pearl of a Home

Amazing home in Pointe West!

We absolutely loved our stay at this home! It is a great location with easy access to the beach and beach club/pool. The home is wonderful with each room having its own bathroom. We loved the space. Overall stay was good, wifi is really bad upstairs and the lower lever where the bonfire is. Can’t really watch any TVs or play games unless you’re in the first floor. House was clean everything was nice and organized. The bikes where a fun ride. The rooms where nice and spacious for all 9 of us.

Beautiful property!

Gorgeous house in a lovely community. The ocean made for a fabulous view and the amenities were perfect. The beds were really comfortable with plenty of blankets and pillows. Every thing was super clean and well cared for. There was plenty of space and the layout was perfect. We loved it so much we’re coming back in a few weeks - and we’ve never stayed in the same place twice!

This was our second time staying at the property - 3 generations of our family had room to gather and also retreat. We love it. Christmas stay!

We had a great time. It is a wonderful time of year to rent a beach house. The weather was great. The beach house was very comfortable and had a beautiful view of the beach. Pointe West Beach Club has a large pristine beach where no cars are allowed as well as many other amenities. The owners of our beach house were very accommodating, very detailed in house description and made check-in very easy. We look forward to returning.

Perfection

This house was perfection for our extended family of two couples with 4 kids from 10 months to 16. It was super clean and set up with all the extras you would want in a vacation home. The kids loved the games and beach. Everyone had their own bathroom which really makes things easier. The kiddos loved being close to the beach over the short bridge too. We also had our dogs who stayed out on the porch and enjoyed the ocean air. It was the weekend after Thanksgiving so the beach was super quiet. We also found breakfast at a nearby food truck and dinner one night at a restaurant about 8 min away. Those seemed to be the only two close options this time of year. So bring food. We could have stayed forever. Just perfect.

Sweet Sixteen Success

The house is emaculate, and amenities at Pointe West were amazing. Dan and Vivian were awesome hosts. This past weekend, we celebrated my daughter's sweet sixteen with her closest friends. I believe this will be the trend for Sweet 16 celebrations. We absolutely made memories.
