The location was great for our stay. The bunk beds are definitely for kids and not for adults as it only has strips of wood holding the mattress. The dishes had to be rewashed as there were rodent droppings on them. The house was not cleaned when we went in- there was empty energy drinks on the living room window behind the blinds. Crumbs all on the living room table. It was a good location and hardly spent time there- so it met our needs other than those minimal things.

This is a great place for a couple of families to meet during Fall Break! It is a bit off season, so restaurants have little to no wait, and the beach is not full. This is a quick easy walk to the beach. The accommodations are nice. You can make a cup of coffee and sit on the deck and watch the ocean waves come in or listen and watch the waves under the moonlight.

The swings under the deck were nice. There was plenty of places to sit and relax. The beds were very comfortable. Even the bunk beds. The only things I would suggest is to clean all the dishes and shelves and drawers in the kitchen. I felt like I had to wash everything before we used it. Also there was a few dead roaches and one alive roach and spider.

This is a lovely home, just steps from the beach. Perfect size for two families to stay together. Large deck and a lot of outdoor space. Good price for the location! Only downside was the cleanliness was not up to par. But since it was so close to the beach we didn’t mind as much.

The house had active mold growing in the kitchen cabinets, the air vents were dirty and needed replacing, the overall cleanliness was poor due to mold, cabinets had mouse droppings, the Beach box host never offered to relocate us so we mitigated as best possible by setting up air purifiers. I will be filing a complaint with all parties for a refund of our stay. I can go on and on because there’s many more problems with this house. The AC system and entire unit is full of moisture and mold.

A little rough…

We enjoyed our stay, but this house left a little to be desired. The AC does not reach into the bedrooms well. The bathrooms/showers really need an update. The cabinets kept silverware and dishes wet. Lots of ants around the kitchen and windows in the living room. The updates made are nice, but it’s got a long ways to go.

Great Weekend

My kids and I were looking for a short getaway from the city. This property and the managers were great, the communication was first class and the convenience to the beach (2 min walk) and to other Galveston attractions made this ideal. Will definitely look at booking again!

Air Conditioning, Time to reply

Location is good. It is lacking adequate air conditioning. It took 2 days to get a response for repair and the AC condition could not be fixed. The ceiling fan in the living area did not work and could not be fixed. The WiFi was down upon arrival and the TV did not work but was repaired the second day. It took 4 calls to get attention to the repairs needed with the AC not being sufficient to properly cool the home. Not a comfortable visit.

Beach Trip

The house was spacious & the beds comfortable. The floors did need to be mopped as the bottom of your feet turned black when walking around house barefoot. A large cockroach or water bug was seen & killed in the kitchen. Yuck but understand how that can happen. Overall we had a good time & only real complaint was the dirty floors.

Our stay

We stayed at the property for a day after our kid and his friends had their prom, and we really enjoyed our time there. The house was great—comfortable, well-located, and within walking distance to the beach and plenty of dining options. Communication from the property management team was excellent, making the stay smooth and stress-free. Highly recommend!

Perfect getaway

This is our fourth time to stay here, sometimes just us and sometimes with additional family members, and we wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else. The home is inviting, very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is very well appointed for dining in or on the large, upstairs deck-plenty of seating for all in either space. I particularly love that bathrooms have enough towel racks and/or hooks for each person’s towel. The location is perfect-literally a very short walk to the beach and a beautiful, unobstructed view of the ocean from the upstairs deck. We love it here!

Perfect Beach Getaway!

The Paunchy Pelican is the perfect beach getaway for families or groups!The home is spacious, ultra clean, and the furnishings and decor are really comfortable, cozy, peaceful, and make you feel right at home while knowing you're away from it all.Our family loved that there were plenty of beds, the kitchen was well-appointed, there's plenty of beach gear available, and the check out process was super easy.Most importantly you are one block off the beach, you can see the water from house, and Jamaica Beach is far enough out of Galveston that you don't feel any kind of crowdedness - it is really peaceful. But you are still close enough to take easy advantage of restaurants, shopping, etc. in town.We loved our stay and know you will too!

Perfect home on the beach!

Our family of 8 enjoyed our stay here. Our teenager enjoyed his own room, our twin boys and 3 girls loved the bunk beds! Easy walk to the beach and we loved the balcony dining with a beach view!
