First of all, the interior of the home. Check-in was smooth, but I can't review much more since we arrived after 9 p.m. and left the next morning at 6:30 a.m. and were charged over $500 to sleep for 8 hours. We didn't get to see the neighborhood because it was dark when we arrived and dark when we left.
I explained to the host that my 15-year-old foster daughter and I needed a place to stay for one night that had two separate bedrooms for the last minute softball tournament she was playing in. I told the host that we couldn't find a hotel near that would work and hoped that maybe since we were only going to stay for a few hours to sleep, maybe we could get a deal. $500 for 8 hours was a lot.
Here's where the "but disappointing" part of the title comes into play. This is the exact response I received:
"I’m sorry, I know and agree, that price is not typical, it’s because Gainesville is high in demand this weekend for events so that is what determines pricing for hotels, rentals, etc."
I believe this is describing price gouging, but maybe I'm wrong.
Anyway, my foster daughter had a great two days playing softball!
