The Praia Formosa beachfront condo was perfect for my husband, myself and our adult daughter. We enjoyed many breakfasts and some dinners on the private and roomy lanai and loved listening to the sea every night as we drifted off to sleep. We loved the convenience of the direct access to the promenade which we walked from end to end several times and enjoyed a couple of dinners at the promenade restaurants. The beds and furniture were comfortable for our tall family; the kitchen and bathrooms perfectly functional. During our 12 days on the island, we circumvented the entire island, visited the gardens and Fanal Forest, hiked incredible levadas, explored Funchal, took in the Festival of Lights and the spectacular, Guiness Book of Records largest New Years Eve fireworks. We spent a thrilling half day with Miguel in his Jeep touring the "real" Madeira where people live along the levadas and tend their many crops which cling to the steep hillsides. Our stop at a small local cafe where the owner made the best Poncha and our bumpy rides along dirt roads (???) through the forest while we stood in the open back of the Jeep was pure fun. Miguel is very knowledgeable and fun to talk to and my husband found it much less stressful to drive our rental car around the island after scooting down and up the narrowest of lanes with our relaxed and confident Miguel at the wheel.Our only regret is that we didn't have more time to hike even more of the levadas.Bev, David Kate, Canada

Nice stay in Funchal

This is a lovely property very close to the beach and with a good balcony overlooking the water. The beds are very very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and clean. Our host Miguel was beyond amazing. He provided us so much information about the area and could not have been more helpful. We were Disappointed that the bedrooms did not have windows which was a bit of surprise Given the photos. The smaller bedroom with the twin beds with stuffy. And there was construction above us, which was A little annoying.

Lovely apartment but could do with air conditioning. Lounge fan not working properly either. Bedrooms are dark but very well equipped. Lovely balcony, apartment not suitable for anybody with mobility problems as road to shops up steep hill.

Great place!

The property was in a great location, walking distance to the tunnel, the fishing village and various restaurants on the beach with the walking path right in front (oceanfront) of the property and stairs close by to get to the main road. The bus stops at the building as well which is convenient. The unit was a good size, spacious, and had everything we needed for laundry, kitchen supplies, bedding etc. The living area was spacious and comfortable. The master bedroom and bathroom were very comfortable and spacious. The second bathroom was very small and not in the second bedroom but had a shower so it was nice that we each had our own bathroom. The balcony was spacious with plenty of seating to enjoy the ocean/beach view and the beautiful sunsets. I would definitely go back!

Paradise!

The apartment was very comfortable, had a great location and a fabulous view. Sitting on the balcony and listening to the surf was heaven. It is situated near many wonderful restaurants, many of which are right on the beach. I and my daughter and son in law stayed for 2 1/2 weeks, and would have been very happy to stay longer. A lot of walking is involved, but all with lovely surroundings, and because of the walks, I could enjoy delicious ponchos and amazing food, especially the scabbard fish with banana and passion fruit, the limpets, and the Bolo do caco. The manager of the apartment was incredibly helpful, and also gave us a wonderful full day tour in his touring jeep. Miguel (Website: Miguel is here) helped to make this a very wonderful and memorable stay. I am my family hope to go back to this very same apartment 🤗

Wonderful apartment!

Beautiful apartment, great location with close by restaurants, public transportation, grocery stores, etc. while still quite and peaceful. Miguel was super helpful, with great tips on eating locations, accessing transport, stores and anything you might need. My husband and I stayed 9 days and loved every day of it! Thank you Miguel!

Dejlig balkon med skøn havudsigt

På en varm og solrig uge på Madeira opholdt vi os meget på den skønne, skyggefulde balkon, hvor vi sad ude og spillede spil til midnat. Lejligheden har ingen vinduer og trænger til en make-over. Ingen larm fra biler, kun lyden af bølger. Skønt friskt havvand - det er stenstrand, så havsko anbefales. Parkering mulig, dog svært i weekenden. Nærmeste by camara de lobos er mega hyggelig.

Wrong time for the beautiful sunset.

Very nice property. Wishing that it would have been on a less rocky beach. Great restaurant's within walking distance. Loved the Jeep Tour with Miguel. Large balcony was so nice for meals and lounging. Enjoyed Madeira.

Wonderful apartment

We spent 26 nights in this fantastic apartment during October and November and would have been more than happy to have stayed another 26. The location on Praia Formosa is excellent for access to local bars and restaurants, shopping facilities in Sao Martinho as well as Funchal centre. Madeira’s motorway network is also within easy access for those who want to explore the island’s spellbinding walks and scenery. The apartment itself contains every creature comfort you could possibly need and has breathtaking sea views. The property manager, Miguel, is an absolute star. A wealth of information and recommendations on every aspect of the island as well as speedy response to any questions or issues. Totally recommended.

Unreasonable owner

I was very disappointed with the reaction of the owner of this property to our having to return to Canada due to the Covid-19 virus. Our Country requested that we make our way home while we could, as well, the government of Madiera had requested that tourist leave. The owner of this property did not feel that a refund was reasonable. He felt that giving us a voucher for 12 months, if the place was available, when we wanted it was acceptable. That was not. We are in a situation that would not allow us to even know if we will be able to travel within a 12 month period. We had already booked and paid for another vacation next year. The owner, had no care or compassion for his rentors.

Ideal for us

My friend and l really enjoyed our time here, we spent three weeks in a lovely environment. Well equipped flat, spacious, fab views of the sea and sunset...perfect for us. Loved the walk to Camara de Logos, went often, but the steps up to the main road and buses were a challenge in the heat. Not for the faint hearted, pity the tunnel is still not opened. But no real complaints, we plan to come back next year or maybe sooner!

Formosa Beach Apt

A spacious, well equipped apartment with a large balcony directly overlooking the pool and sea. All day sunshine, beautiful sunsets and easy access to the beach path to Camara de Lobos (a lovely walk). Anyone wishing to watch TV has access to excellent WiFi, multiple international channels and Netflix (you need your own log in) .

Our return visit says it all

This was our 20th visit to Madeira and our second stay in this apartment, which is a strong recommendation in itself. We particularly like: Being right on the sea front Beautiful view of the sunset Sound of the waves Spaciousness of the apartment Free WiFi Access to UK TV Proactive helpfulness of the property manager, Miguel Easy access to the much improved road network to get around the island We keep coming back to Madeira because of: Fantastic levada walks with views of the mountains and sea Spectacular scenery Lushness of the forests and vegetation Dragonflies, butterflies and flowers in bloom even in December Weather - not too hot, not too cold, like a British summer virtually all year round Funchal's Christmas illuminations

Misleading description

The apartment is located right next to the beach with beautiful sunsets. Although there are supermarkets nearby, access to these is not easy as you must first climb a large number of very steep steps up a cliff face. This is not possible if you have any mobility problems. It is therefore necessary to either take taxis or rent a car whilst staying here. The property manager Miguel was fantastic and supplied us with numerous recommendations and suggestions for restaurants etc. We also took his jeep tour (Miguel is here) which was personalised to our requirements and we had a great half day tour discovering the island. His knowledge and enthusiasm really made the time special and I would highly recommend it.

Great Apartment, well equipped.

This apartment has everything you need more , the TV has full sky package sky sport & movies even has Netflix. Miguel is brilliant makes you feel very welcome. We went on a Jeep tour with Miguel in his Portuguese army jeep which was excellent Miguel will take you and show you the real Maderia and even checks the weather to make sure you have a great time would highly recommend this tour with Miguel Back to apartment the views over looking the sea are great very peaceful we used to come back of a evening with a bottle of wine and relax listening to the waves. We would highly recommend this apartment. Thank you Miguel. Tony & Jackie
