Our family stayed at the Baited Hook in August 2021. When we arrived, we loved the proximity to the beach, and how it was situated on the island. There was some obvious wear and tear we noticed right away, like a barstool having broken spindles, a nonworking toaster, and some of the furniture and carpet having seen better days, but overall there was plenty of seating and room for us. However, during our stay, we not once had a working dryer. The knob was missing and a repairman came halfway through the week only to say he had to order a part and wasn’t able to fix it. There was a wrench in the laundry room for us to manually spin the dial, which didn’t work. One morning, the water stopped working. After talking to the rental office, we find out the water bill was unpaid and got shut off. The property management company ended up going to the office in person to get it paid and turned back on. Then, the air conditioning stopped working. It was 88 degrees in the house during the hottest part of the day. After communicating again with the office, they got someone out to come check out the AC. Even after they left and supposedly fixed it, the upstairs was never below 78 degrees even after sunset, so I’m not sure if it was actually fixed it, but we checked out the next morning. None of that was as frustrating as when we called the rental office and let them know we weren’t happy with our stay and they said they had fixed everything as quickly as they could and we should be thankful since we were staying on an island where it sometimes takes weeks for service. They offered no real apology or offer of any sort of refund. Considering what we paid, we were not satisfied with our stay and would not rent from this realty/property management company again.
