We have stayed at El Matador one other time in the same building but a different unit and it was absolutely wonderful. This stay was not that. Upon checking in the unit was dirty. There was sand on the floors, sand in the bed, the ceiling in the bathroom looked like it may fall in (we found some ceiling paint/pieces in the toilet throughout our stay), we saw several roaches on the floor throughout our stay and gnats were coming up the garbage disposal. We didn't use the garbage disposal while we were there. If you walked barefoot at all in the unit your feet would be black. We aren't ones to complain, we don't expect the nicest things. We come here for the beautiful beach. But this unit was gross. We didn't mind that it's outdated, but it needs a serious deep clean, some repairs, and sprayed for bugs. Being on the ground level was the only good part about this unit. We'll be coming back to El matador but definitely staying in a different unit.
