My wife and I stayed here along with our 20 something daughter, the week before Labor Day. The room was spotless and the furnishings were very nice and comfortable. The kitchen had everything needed for cooking and the dishes and utensils all matched, an unusual find in many rentals. With the exception of the tiny room with the bunk beds, all the rooms were large and had plenty of closet space. Bathrooms were large, clean and had great water pressure. We did not use the bunk bed room, but it would only be suitable for kids and has no closet or furniture other than the bed.
Although it is a first floor room, you still have a great view of the beach and Gulf over the dunes and this unit has a private staircase from the balcony down to the beach ramp. The beach is clean, pure white sand and you will find 2 wooden lounge chairs and a canvas umbrella waiting for you each day at no charge. I have no real complaints at all, but do have a couple of "negative" comments. The garbage disposal vibrates the sink so much it actually shuts the water off sometimes and is very loud. Also, although is is nice to walk off the balcony to the beach, you cannot lock the patio door from the outside. If you want to lock the door, at least one guest will have to go out the front door and walk around. We felt safe enough that we chose to leave the patio door unlocked when went down to the beach, just a short walk away, but that is a personal choice.
As far as the area, we arrived at the very end of the busy season so the crowds were gone but everything was still open for business. Sea Dunes is located away from all of the busy commercial businesses, so it was like having a private beach. There is a convenience store within walking distance that carries snacks, drinks (including alcohol) and other groceries and beach toys. The fishing pier, aquarium and TONS of great restaurants are only a 3 minute drive away and the Destin Harbor area is only 10 minutes away. We also rented some Jet Skis from Power-Up water Sports and went parasailing with Boogies Watersports. I recommend both of them.
I am told the crowds get crazy during the peak summer season, which some people enjoy. I prefer the start or end of the season to avoid the crowds. Either way, this condo will provide you with a great vacation spot that is far bigger than any hotel room and at a great price.
