The perfect place for a relaxing vacation for hikers, families, or friends. The historic Biberach Forest House is located in the mountain village of Hundsbach at an elevation of 650 m, right on the edge of the Black Forest National Park between the wild and romantic Murg Valley and the Bühler wine-growing region near Baden-Baden. The 86-square-meter “Eulennest” vacation apartment, furnished in a cozy country-style, is located in the attic of the newly renovated, historic former forester’s house. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed here. We have a second vacation rental in the building, listed under “Hüttenzauber,” where dogs are welcome. The apartment features two bedrooms with double beds; a crib is available upon request. There are two additional beds in the open loft for children ages 6 and up. The living room features two large, cozy sofas and an LCD flat-screen TV with satellite channels; the kitchen is equipped with a four-burner stove, oven, dishwasher, large freezer compartment, microwave, blender, and all necessary utensils—including baking supplies and spices—and seating for 6 people with a high chair, and a large bathroom with a shower. There are plenty of wooden toys for the little ones and board games for the older children. The rooms have hardwood floors or high-quality tile flooring. Towels and bed linens are provided free of charge. The apartment is suitable for up to 6 people, for example, two families with a total of 2 children. Our sauna is available in the basement. An eco-friendly pellet-fired central heating system provides cozy warmth, and a solar panel system on the roof generates the electricity needed for the house. We have a sweet dog and two cats. In the natural garden, there’s plenty of space for children to run around (trampoline), as well as a patio and shady spots for relaxing or barbecuing. In the immediate vicinity, you’ll find endless forests, two wildly romantic streams, a beautiful playground, a soccer field, and a toboggan run. High-speed Wi-Fi is available.
The Black Forest National Park, established in 2014, is right nearby and offers endless opportunities to explore nature, including free guided hikes organized by the national park. The Mehliskopf amusement park, 7 km away, features a high ropes course, a summer toboggan run, an adventure playground, and more. Day trips to Baden-Baden (25 km), Strasbourg (70 km), or Europapark (70 km) are also great options. Nearby nature trails such as the Lothar Trail, Wilderness Trail, and Lynx Trail (10–15 km), the Treetop Walk (40 km), and several waterfalls (20 km) are also well-suited for young children. In case of bad weather, the Panoramabad Freudenstadt (30 km)—a family pool—and the thermal baths in Baden-Baden (25 km), as well as the National Park Center and the Unimog Museum, are great places to spend some time. Ski slopes with snow cannons and cross-country ski trails are 7 to 15 km away.
Several short excursions, e.g., to the Geroldsau Waterfalls, the Allerheiligen monastery ruins with waterfalls, the Murggarten in Forbach, the Bermersbach Goat Trail, Mummelsee with Hornisgrinde, the Glückspfad, the Wildnispfad, etc., are also very popular with families with young children. From the house itself, you have direct access to the national park. You can also take beautiful hikes right from the house, such as to Schurmsee (Seensteig), Ochsenstall, Untersmatt, Mummelsee, or the Schwarzenbach Dam.
