We had a great time for our weekend getaway! The kids did not want to leave! They loved fishing in the river. Don't forget to bring fishing poles and some chairs to enjoy the river. We left the chairs at home but will bring them the next time.

Great weekend get-a-way

Nice quiet property. We stayed for the weekend, able to take a short trip to Covington/Abita but still stay away from any city feel. Owner was great to deal with.

Looks like it’s out of a story book

Cute place to stay! Only complaints are the amount of spiders and bugs (outside, not inside). Granted, it’s summer in Louisiana. The property could just use a little outside maintenance. There is also a friendly cat that roams the area. The only reason this was an issue is because our dogs are reactive and it made it a little stressful. Friendly host who was very responsive and accommodating.

Secluded Getaway

The "Isle of View" was the perfect location for my friends and I. Situated a little more than an hour from Baton Rouge and New Orleans, we were able to visit both cities and retreat to the quiet castle at night. The resident Hemingway cat that oversaw the property was very affectionate. Bring cat treats! We will stay again. Thank you Marcus.

Really Unique Home!

The house is amazing. Such unique architecture lends to a wonderfully quirky interior layout. Being on the second floor is really like being in a supercool tree house! Every window has a view of the lush woods. And there are so many places to sit! Porch, deck, gazebo, fire pit, table by the bridge, and two first floor decks. The deck was my favorite hangout. The reason I left a star off "cleanliness" was not due to the house not being clean. It definitely is. But, there are a number of minor house maintenance tasks that need to be attended to. None of these deterred from our enjoyment and the host is well aware of them. When we were there some outdoor fixes were in progress, which is great to see. Speaking of host, Marcus is amazing. What a nice guy and very attentive. The neighbor's cat is also quite attentive and incredibly friendly, meeting us as we arrived and greeting us each morning when we came downstairs. The kitchen is well-stocked. Spice cabinet has just about everything you could ever need. The house was very clean, lots of towels available, and the main bedroom bed was very comfortable (we didn't use the other two bedrooms). The property is gorgeous. You're right in the middle of a forest. So many birds! There is lots of room to walk and explore. Our dogs were in heaven. This is such an interesting house, I know you will enjoy your stay.

Very nice

Absolutely gorgeous property! Peaceful, quiet, and a very friendly, sweet kitty who visited daily. The house was very pretty, stocked well, and the elevator was a fun touch. Only concern was that a significant number of items were out of service including the claw foot tub, bedroom door to outside and indoor fire place which were done of the points for us to select this place. Additionally, even locked, the front door can be easily pushed out pulled open meaning no security.

Overnight getaway

We loved our time here. We were upset about the tub not working and the shower and other bathroom shower had little to no hot water. We would’ve liked to take a hot shower after a long day. My kids did love everything about the inside and outside of this property! It was worth it for us to stay here! Check in was east and communication was great. Thanks for sharing your property with us

Very cool house, but needs work

There are so many things we loved about this house - the wooded and peaceful location, the fun and funky furniture, and the "great!" great room where we spent almost all of our time. Inside the house, we found things quite clean and tidy. The manager/owner was also excellent - wonderful communication and quickly attended to one issue we had. But on the down side, the exterior of the house could use a good cleaning, including the stairwell and decks. It's sad to see some of the house falling into disrepair. We hope the owners put some money back into the house and return it to its former state as when originally built. We would happily pay more for the house if attention was paid to these details.

Beautiful property

Had a blast at this beautiful property with a few friends over the New Year’s holiday. It’s such an interesting house. We all fell in love with the cat that hangs around outside. We made use of the fire pit and enjoyed some stargazing.

Fall trip

We had a great time. House is way off the busy roads. We enjoyed hiking in woods. Playing in river. Barbecuing at lunch. Had s’mores in evening at fire pit. Kids loved going up the tower stairs. But elevator was better for hauling suitcases up to living room level. House had everything we needed for our stay. A wonderful relaxing long weekend away from stressful world.

Exactly what we were looking for

This was a perfect charming retreat! It was exactly what I wanted! I could agree with the other reviews that it could use a little additional maintenance, and I was very disappointed that the fireplace and tub were out of order, but the beauty more than made up for it! Not to mention Feets the cat we met that we named based off of well his huge feet! The many sitting places made for a wonderful evening and we even sat around the fire for a while. The o ky thing I would have changed is our duration of stay!

Absolutely wonderful

We wish we had booked more time to stay in this little piece of heaven! Marcus was super accommodating and the place was exquisite with everything we needed. There is a resident black cat on the property (who we called Pantera, supposedly male) who was very affectionate and seemingly a protector of us, we will miss him dearly. The river is cold and beautiful, refreshing on a sunny day, the trees and the acorns dropping at all times are an environment we felt comfortable and at peace in. We built some fires in the pit some nights and with the house in view with all of its lights made us feel at home. We definitely hope to book again real soon!
