We rented this property as a home base for my son's wedding week in Charleston. We had family from all over the country coming to town and needed a place to gather that would accommodate a larger group at different times of the day - this house was just what we needed! Everything was as described - most importantly for me, the wheelchair accessibility! I was able to get everywhere in the house (upstairs, downstairs, outside, and to the beach). The house was cozy but big enough to fit all 12 of us, ages 5 - 55, and everyone had a place to sleep! The kids enjoyed the pool table room, outside deck, large yard, beach access, and town of Folly. I was impressed with Ross and his quick responses to all of my questions - he truly put me at ease and helped with anything we needed. I would 100% recommend this property to anyone looking to gather their family at the beach!

This property was truly everything we could have hoped for to stay for our wedding on Folly Beach. Our highlights were the "bunk" room, huge kitchen and dining room table, and the screened in porch. The proximity to the beach doesn't hurt either. It is spacious and perfect for a large group. They seem to have thought of most things you could want!

Annual folly trip

This was our 10th summer in Folly and this was now our second time staying at A Beach Thing. We will absolutely stay here every time we visit. Beautiful house, so clean, excellent accommodations, and even better communication from the host. Thank you again for keeping our family tradition going in the best way!

Spacious Oceanfront Home

The house can accommodate large families or friend groups. Virtually every room has ocean view and lots of bathrooms. Tons of socializing space and great enclosures on deck and a garden that accesses the beach immediately. Great communication with Ross and listen to his suggestions. Folly town is fantastic find; lots if cool bars, great music and cool ice cream shop for the littles-“Shoobies.” Pool halls too. Tides is a great music and oceanfront restaurant for a fancy night out with music. The rooftop Taco restaurant more casual with music too snd cool with kids. Great vibe, Ashley st is a great walk, or you can Uber. Enjoy as we did.

Family wedding weekend

The house is beautiful and spacious and was perfect for our family gathering for our daughter's wedding weekend on Folly Beach! The setting on the beach is perfect... fabulous views and balconies from the living room and kitchen and all but one of the bedrooms! The elevator made bringing suitcases and supplies inside and taking them out again very easy. The yard and walkway to the beach was perfect. Everything was wonderful! Ross was always quick to respond to texts and emails and was great about communicating and accommodating our requests. Highly recommend this house for your family vacation on Folly Beach!

SIMPLY STUNNING PROPERTY!!!

If I could give 10 stars for each of the above categories I would! Ross is a wonderful host and was so responsive to all of my communication from booking to stay! We held our son's recent rehearsal dinner here in the back yard, it was a stunning event with the backdrop of the ocean and all the space for our guests to enjoy the view and dinner under the up-lit palm trees . Everyone from family to friends who entered this home were stunned at it's beautiful views from any spot on the property! The rooms were so comfortable each with their own oceanfront views and private bathrooms allowing everyone to have privacy and space as the rooms are nicely spread throughout the home. Although we did not have young kids to use the bunkbed / family room it is the coolest room and would easily sleep a small family in your group or all the kids and or teens in a group. We fit a 6 ft 20 something in a bunkbed and he was very comfortable! The rest of the home is very cozy and nicely decorated, the screened in porch, the rocking chairs and the fabulous kitchen! The pool/ game room with the porch off the room was a favorite of our family to play pool, listen to music and watch the sunset ! If you are looking for a 5 star resort home on a quiet street with oceanfront access look no further this house is a shore thing!!! I look forward to having an opportunity to visit family in Charleston again and staying here !!!!!

Beautiful House

Every year there are 9 of us older adults that spend a week at the beach. This house is perfect. Love that all the bedrooms face the beach, elevator comes in handy. The layout is great. Perfect for our group.

Owner failed in reasonable communication

Overall the property is not well represented in the description and pictures shown. The pictures are misleading in size and condition. I rented the property for a total of 4 adults and 3 kids. The other couple we were traveling with was using this as a scouting trip for a wedding next summer. Obviously this was house enough for us but I would not recommend using this as a wedding venue as the property is advertised. The yard was not well maintained and the interior lower level was not as large as it appeared in the pictures. The property owner was not up to par with communication. - Failed to notify us or post in the property description that Folly Beach renourishment was happening during the time we were there and the couple months prior. We stayed at another property the week before this stay and found out from that property. The only issue with the renourishment was a large diesel generation and sand/water pump was located directly in front of the property. It would run on and off throughout the day and all hours of the night. After asking the owner, he mentioned previous renters had complained. This is something I would expect to be passed to future guests on the potential impact to their vacation. - Failed to notify us that the oven was broken and only confirmed this when we tried to cook the first day and the smell of gas became obvious. At a high level the property is okay, but for the price, I expected a higher level of service and better property maintenance.

The property met all our needs. The layout was well thought out. It was an enjoyable week! We will be looking forward to coming back! The beach was very peaceful, great for young grandkids to play and explore! Would suggest more coffee mugs and freestanding vacuum for quick sand pickup. Otherwise no recommendations.
