My wife & I spent 3 nights at the Lovenest, and loved it! It was an easy walk (a little less than 15 minutes) to get from the Florence Santa Maria Novella Train station to Lovenest. The location is a 10 minute walk to the Duomo, about 15 to the Ufizzi & close to the Academia Gallery. Lovenest is within steps of great Cafe's, Bakery's and restaurants. The restaurant directly and left across the street had a great Florence T-Bone! The bakery down the street (left-left as you exit) was stellar.
The host, Michelangelo, was very responsive before our arrival (this is not always the case w/VRBO hosts... making us comfortable that we would actually have a place once we got to Florence). He met us, and gave us a great tour of accommodations & surrounding facilities. He even had brochures for local restaurants and shopping, and maps! For those of us who don't speak
Key items of the accommodations included:
- Good sized Kitchen w/stove, microwave, refrigerator, etc.
- Washer & Dryer!!! Michaelangelo also supplied deturgent
- Iron & Ironing Board
- Living Room
- Nice size Bathroom
- Bedroom
- Terrace w/table & chairs with a view of the Duomo
- A/C & WiFi!
- Trash & Recyclables can be placed just down Guelfa street (left) in the receptacles, when you leave.
Most of our time was spent being a tourist, but time we spent at Lovenest was very comfortable. We would get a bottle of wine from the cafe down the street, and sit on the terrace and just look at the Duomo and stars. The bed was very comfortable.
Lovenest also had an open-able skylight, and private door to the terrace. This allowed us to open these, and we felt very safe & comfortable with the AC off at night, with the fresh & cool Florence night air.
Lovenest was quiet. No noticeable noise. It was secure, and we felt very safe in the neighborhood.
We had 2 people, but I believe the couch can handle 2 more as a pull-out. Plenty of room.
When we go back to Florence, we hope to stay at Lovenest again!
