We've got the lowdown on how to make your flight as pain-free as possible. Follow our tips and tricks and you'll be hightailing it through the airport and enjoying Sainte-Marie-de-Ré in no time at all. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a stress-free experience if you carry the right things. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a clean set of clothes and a good novel. Secondly, leave space in your carry-on bag for your electronic gadgets, chargers, medications and maybe a comfy neck pillow as well. Lastly, remember to take your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Pointed or sharp objects, like your Swiss Army knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosols and gasoline, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to be as comfortable as possible. Don layers of natural fibers and take a jacket just in case you get chilly. Pick well-fitting, flat shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell during the flight. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your luggage.
- Unfortunately, one risk of flying long distances is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this, take every opportunity to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs. Compression tights and socks are another easy way to help lower your risk.
