Perfect location
This was our second stay here. Last year we came for one week and while we were still here we booked it again for this year for two weeks. My husband and I just love this beach house. We are going to come back again next year for another two weeks. We loved waking up every morning and going out to the picnic table to watch the sunrise. We saw dolphins, a manta ray, and even had a land crab come for a visit. We enjoyed all the local restaurants that are just a short drive down the road. Every evening we watched the sunset across the street. Just a perfect spot to rest and relax along the beach! Couldn’t ask for anything more, except a hammock!

Perfectly perfect ON the beach
Being ON the beach made all the eccentricities of the place acceptable. I didn’t really realize that there was only a plug in hot plate and no oven. Also, one photo shows a view of the beach. There is NO view of the beach from any door. Disappointed not to be able to open any windows to let in ocean breezes and sound. The mattresses could use replacing g and one bathroom door doesn’t shut. But? Like I said, it is ON the beach. I’d come again in a quick minute!

Dena, thank you for the review and for staying at our Quarter Deck Cottage. You cannot beat the location of this charming cottage on the beach. You can see the ocean from the kitchen window and bedroom window or relax outside and listen to the ocean waves. Our listing lists there is the induction cooktop, which is used to assist our guests with making their meals as well as a microwave and charcoal grill. The cottage was recently renovated this year, which included the updating of the bedroom furniture, beds and futon; however we will pass along your feedback. Weekend getaway
We had a great time staying at this little cottage. We had family come for the day to celebrate my husbands birthday. There was room for everyone to park and hang out. The beach is private, hardly any people, which was so nice. The cottage is perfect for a couple or small family. Close to grocery stores and restaurants. Owners were very nice!

Location can’t be beat!
We had a wonderful stay for a long weekend family getaway. The location RIGHT ON the beach was to die for. It was so convenient with two young children to get to the beach without having to lug everything long distances or drive and find parking. My husband and I enjoyed sitting in the Adirondack chairs at night listening to the waves. We had the beach essentially to ourselves the entire time. The chairs and beach toys were also a great bonus. We did not have to use the umbrella, but there was one available. The location makes up for some of the quirkiness of the property. Things that could have made the stay even better: A tv in the living room, since the two rooms are not connected. A washer and dryer. It would be difficult to stay for longer than we did without having to find a laundry mat. Worth noting: The beach is extremely shelly. This makes it fun to pick up shells, but if you have sensitive feet you may want water shoes to get in the ocean. Also, there were biting bugs (sand gnats maybe?) When I used eucalyptus lemon bug spray on us and our chairs it kept them away pretty well. Staying in or closer to the water also helped. Overall, our stay was wonderful and we would stay again and recommend to others.

Quarter Deck Cottage
This house was directly on the beach and was described perfectly in the description. The views were amazing and the house was clean. This is an older home that has the kitchen and bedrooms separated which was described before and was not a problem for us. It was easy to get between the 2 areas as the dorrs are adjacent to each other. We would stay here again.

Great old school beach feel
Love this adorable little house, literally on the beach and just steps away to the ocean. We got the old beach town feel that we were looking for. Every morning we watch the sunrise, and every evening we went for walks. Felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves, because there was very little people where we were staying at. The house is adorable, the beds are comfortable, and through the heavy winds for the first two days we felt very safe in the house. Never rattled or shook or anything. Very sturdy home. Hope we get to stay there again

Great stay all around
We were extremely satisfied with this property. Quiet, relaxing, on the beach property. The locals are friendly. We spent the entire stay on the property only going out for food, and more sunscreen and aloe! We saw dolphins, and manta rays while sitting on the deck. The nearby restaurants we visited were all good too. Would love to visit again next year.

Our stay at Painters Hill
Location was wonderful. Right on the beach and half way between St Augustine and Daytona made for lots of opportunities to see and do! The neighbors were friendly and the neighborhood was super nice.

AWESOME BEACH PROPERTY
The house was exactly as described! Very unique property but was exactly what we needed! Each morning we sat on the beach enjoying our coffee and beautiful sunrises! The remainder of the day included long walks on the beach and reading. The property managers and owners were very helpful and responded to all questions and needs. We were able to watch the dolphins and one day we had a whale spend an hour out front in the beautiful ocean!

Beautiful location
This place was small and my husband struggled with the lack of ability to cook easily. We left an electric flattop that we purchased for others to use. Many of the pots and pans available were not usable. However the location was amazing. Absolutely gorgeous, relaxing and secluded. The town itself was adorable and we enjoyed it.

Quiet and Relaxing

A little quaint hole in the wall, private place
This is the second time we have stayed at Painters hill, If you can handle the quirky set up, (go outside to get to kitchen) it is a wonderful place. We normally ride our bikes into town for dinner, Yet Painters Hill is by itself in a very quiet beach front site

Little piece of heaven
We absolutely loved the cottage I’d definitely stay again The beds were super comfortable and everything was spotless We really enjoyed the beach and fishing The only thing I would do is put an outside light in between the 2 doors because you can’t see at night to get in And also there is a bad bull ant problem Other than that the place is awesome!! I’d definitely recommend it to all my friends and family

Girls trip
Usually every summer a friend of mine goes with me and takes my niece and one of her friends to the beach and this was the best trip we have ever had. Everything about it was easy. We loved the setup of the place and the seclusion. We have never had a better time at a better location. It reminded me of my childhood and vacationing in this area with my mom.

Not Impressed!!
The “bungalow” was not a pleasant stay at all. I and my family ended up leaving and renting another home. The air conditioner started wetting the floor and not cooling. I sent a message and a maintenance man was sent out to look at it/them. He then had to contact the owner to come look at them. My son ended up cleaning them out and emptied all the water out of them. The living area side continued to spit and struggle to keep the area cool. But without progress. The bedroom unit started failing then and it just completely blew hot air. We continued to use the bungalow because it had parking, an outside shower and a beach access. We only went inside to use the restroom. I was so disappointed. I read all the reviews about the tiny home before ever renting it and everyone seemed so satisfied. I would of been satisfied with it if only the “portable” air units had of worked and kept us all cool and the bathroom cool as well. The bathrooms have no air either. It was at times 86 degrees in them. How can you shower or use the restroom in heat like that. One of the lights didn’t work in the bathroom. So you had to potty & shower in the dark. This is a very cute little home with alot of potential. But it hasn’t been taken care of and the things in it (air, beds, etc…) were very cheap and didn’t work properly.

Thank you, Ann, for taking the time to write this long review. It is a shame that you didn't contact us more about the light bulb, for instance. As we explained to you and as also shown in the photos of this cottage on the beach, there is no central air, but rather portable units. On very hot days, if the door or windows are left even ajar, it will cause major condensation to form. This also can cause the portable systems to overwork. Similarly, future guests should also note that you, Ann, had an over-capacity group + a dog. Especially in the summer months, there will be condensation on an over-taxed portable a/c. We have had many many guests here with 5-star reviews on very hot weekend getaways, not having these problems. We are a small, local company, with a big heart here to try to provide comfort to our guests. Despite our good efforts, we were unable to make this guest happy. Great beach stay
We were supprized how clean and pefect this place was. Ive seen reviews with some complaints but honestly i didnt have any, right on the beach quit town, didnt even see to many people on the beach the whole week, alot of little things we appriciated like rechargable flash lights, portable charcole grill with a charcole starter and more, the only things we had to buy was food and bev, we will def be back.... also great pricing for a on the beach location

Fabulous location
The location is amazing. Right on the beach...sunsets and sunrise was gorgeous. However, there is no electrical outlet in either bathroom( dried my hair with hair dryer in the kitchen)...there is no outside light...gets dark and couldn't make out the keypad at night. The layout is quirky but functional.

What a view!
Right on the beach. Beach was deserted. Very private. Perfect for a couple. Everything that you would need. Beds were so comfortable. Only complaint was we would have liked a TV in main room as well for the rainy day we had. Other than that , very satisfied. Will rent again in future.

Just as advertised but better
We will return is about the best rating I think you can give a rental. If you are bringing beach gear I don’t think you will get it any closer to the water from your vehicle than this without riding on the beach.

Location isn't everything
Location on the ocean gives this place a lot of takers. But, the cottage was dysfunctional from separated living spaces to poor quality upkeep throughout. No sense given to functionality of kitchen. No place to cook, clean or store food, amongst too many other deficients to list. If you only want ocean access, go for it, but plan on struggling with all other aspects of normal amenities usual to vacation rentals

Thanks for writing a detailed review of your experience. We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay. The separation you mentioned is disclosed in our property description. We only heard from your party once your entire stay, and that was to fix the freezer door that had nothing wrong with other than it was overfilled with items that were blocking the door from shutting. We sent a handyman the same day you reported this issue. We encourage travelers to read the entire listing before booking. This property is more suitable for a beach short-term vacation and not a longer-term vacation rental stay. It does not have a washer/dryer or conventional oven. All of which is disclosed in the description. The property is priced well below other vacation rentals in the area, many of which do not have direct access to the beach. We market this place as such...a direct beach access cottage with no frills. Thank you for your feedback.

Great location, basic accommodations
Property was clean and every amenity was functional. Great for the price. Property manager was not friendly when I called, but no big deal.

Memorable Place
Location! Location! Location! We stayed for two weeks and never lacked for something to do. You can enjoy the sun rise and the sun set from the cottage awhile being on the beach. Awesome!! The place was very clean. Would stay again. Thank you

Quarterdeck Cottage
Overall, very satisfied. The house was a little "quirky" with two front entrances--one side for kitchen/living and bathroom the other side for bedroom and bathroom. Very clean. Noisy air conditioner. The sand in this area is very course but difficult walking as you would sink in and beach is not flat. Wouldn't want to run along it. Would stay again.

Nice place to stay will definitely be returning
We had a great experience in our four days stay one downfall is there is no lights outside so it was extremely dark during the night time. One suggestion would be to connect the two rooms in the middle where are the towels are hung, and make the windows where they can be opened.

Location, location, location
If you are a beach bum then this location is AMAZING!!!! Close to all necessities and laid back and quiet… there were a few things that could be updated to make this place perfect. There is no electrical outlets in the bathroom. I had to do my hair in bedroom with no mirror. Also, you can not open any windows that face the ocean, they are glued shut. That is one reason people want to stay near ocean is to hear it every night. The split rooms was kind of a pain, could be updated to make one house. The sand burrs in the lawn were horrible, if you bring children here, make sure they ALWAYS wear foot protection when not on the beach! The futon mattress was like sleeping on a rock, very uncomfortable, but the beds were comfortable.

Quiet, relaxing Vacation!
The description of the property is accurate. This is a no frills, clean, place to stay. Your time is spent on the beach, not in the house. Beach is quiet and beautiful. Great fishing each day, just steps away from your door. We had our own sunshade with us, so we could cover the little patio outside and eat dinner looking at the ocean. Make sure you keep shoes on outside (sticker burrs and fire ants). The house is very clean, beds and pillows VERY comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed. No problems at all - just relaxation!! It was Biktoberfest and loud traffic, but we hid on our quiet beach and enjoyed.

Perfect Little Beach House
Stayed at this beach house for a week and had the best vacation! The views were absolutely beautiful and the house was super clean and had everything we needed. I will definitely be going back.

Beautiful beach location
This property sits right on the beach. It is a beautiful location. The house was very clean with everything you would need for your stay. I can’t say enough about the amazing views. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Location
Very good location right on a very secluded beautiful beach. Rooms are small but comfortable. The floor air conditioners are inadequate. They 24/7 and still didn't get the rooms to a comfortable temperature. It was a 97 degree summer day though. It's time to spend the money and buy 2 mini split AC units capable of cooling both rooms. The fact that the kitchen was seperated from the bedroom did not create an issue at all. The futon couch is worn out and hard to get in out of. The padding in the futon is minimal and I think would be uncomfortable to sleep on. The beach access made it all worthwhile but don't set high expectations of room accomodations.

Thanks, Eric for taking the time to review. This is not the experience we wanted you to have. We have already ordered a replacement futon/couch as a result of your review. It should be in the unit within the next week or so when the calendar opens up. We will address the AC issue with the owners as well.
