"Friendly helpful staff, clean room, good food, comfy bed"

Advertised as one thing (apparently Hotels.com won’t let me say what, so I have had to re word my initial complaint), when I checked in, I was given something completely different. "I was really looking forward to my stay at The Candlesticks. However as soon as I entered, I began to have my doubts. The bar area, where the owner received us, looked particularly shabby and it smelt musty. It was 3pm (an hour after checking-in should have started) and the room wasn't ready. "Too hot in room. Fan could not help at all. No lift. Nice to sit on the Terrasse but you need to order at Rezeption! Very unconvenient! Spa very dirty not nice. Steam room was the best. Many children jumping in Pool. Very nice setting."

"In spite of the friendly and helpful staff, unfortunately the property need significant investment to thrive. Very dated, bathrooms need replacing, doors need replacing, windows are small. It looks as though bedding is washed domestically rather than commercially, leaving tired staines on bedding. If you are young and need a cheap place to stay then this will be totally fine. However, if you have learned to appreciate the nicer things in life, then spend more and enjoy a different hotel. We got...
