Grandma Julie's Getaway

  • This beautiful home sits on 14 acres in a forested area approximately 8 miles North of Fairbanks, AK. The original owners of the home owned 160 acres in the area and came to Alaska in 1955.

    We welcome guests from all parts of the world to enjoy our property. The Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) can be seen on the property at times during our fall and winter months. Wildlife such as moose, foxes, and birds frequent the property. The property is great for families that enjoy the outdoors or for individuals and couples that enjoy a little extra privacy.

Everything was perfect. House is lovely in a nice setting about 10m outside Fairbanks. Everything worked great - kitchen well stocked and host was super nice and helpful. Will 100% stay again when back in Fairbanks.

This is an absolutely beautiful property that is so well maintained! It’s full of vintage charm but still has all the modern amenities you might “need” for a vacation. 10 minutes from most of town and right by a public river access! You will feel connected to the Earth and town in this gorgeous getaway!

Wonderful place with everything we needed, very comfortable. The best part of the place was the wood stove with everything needed to have a fire! 10/10 We loved it!

We stayed here while we explored the Fairbanks area. Conveniently located. Highly recommend in lieu of a hotel.

Great stay. Clean, comfortable and really cute place. Perfect spot to catch the Aurora Borealis last night. Host was awesome. Quick responder and very accommodating. Plenty of coffee and fixings each morning. Snacks available. Soft comfortable beds (super soft sheets). I highly recommend Grandma Julie’s place.

Homely stay in Fairbanks

Warm and cosy stay which gives home away from home feels. You will have everything you will probably need for your stay. Everything is laid out very well and Becky is very responsive.

By far, the best rental we have ever stayed in! If I could give more than five stars I would. Becky is a great hostess, she absolutely thinks of everything. Clean, spacious, the most amenities ever! Beautiful outdoor private property and sitting outside on the porch/deck was a favorite of ours.

Nice secluded home. Clean, nice bedding and towels. Had great space for the six of us. They provided several amenities including coffee beans, popcorn and basics condiments. Great communication with host. We used the wood stove, may be a little tricky if you aren’t comfortable with wood heat but if you use the written instructions you will be comfy warm in no time.

Wilderness Revitalize

This property was just what I needed. All the touring and city noises were getting depressing. To stay at Becky's place in a country setting was beneficial. Great place, close to Fairbanks but out of town where you can just enjoy nature. All around great place, extremely clean and a very accommodating host.

Peaceful and relaxing

This cozy home outside of Fairbanks included exceptionally nice personal touches--A well stocked coffee and snack supply, comfy beds, well laid out floor plan along with historical pictures adorning the walls and bird feeders that attracted wildlife made it feel like a true home away from home. Owners made sure the driveway was plowed quickly after a snow and checked in to see if all was ok (which it was).

Amazing Location!

We had a great time at this location. The house is well-equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay. The location is quite and secluded enough to give you privacy and allow for a relaxing stay. We were lucky to see and photograph the northern lights right from the driveway on multiple nights. Lastly, our host was not only welcoming but very attentive and checked in with us often to ensure we didn’t need anything extra. It just doesn’t get better than this!

Perfect Getaway

The property is just like the listing. Very clean and well taken care of. There is tons of space for everyone to spread out. Loved that we were able to see the Northern Lights from the yard during our visit. Loved that we weren't in the middle of the city but only 15ish minutes for everywhere we wanted to go in town. Appreciated some snacks and treats provided. The host is very communicative and easy to reach when needed. Would highly recommend people stay here. Would stay here again.

This is the best vacation rental we have ever stayed at, quality, host communication, amenities, everything. Becky really went above and beyond with this property, the history is incredible, it feels like a very special home where lots of precious family memories have been made (ours included). It was so cozy tucked away into aspen groves in the rolling hills outside of the city, but close enough to everything to make it convenient to get into town. The silverware and cookware was all in excellent condition. The place was spotless when we checked in. She even left some local chocolate and a gift basket. We truly felt the love and care put into our stay . It was the perfect place to end our long trip. Our kids had a blast hiding in the closets and chasing each other around the wood burning stove. The one and only thing that would have improved our experience was a washer and dryer, we ended up using a laundry in service in town.

Best VRBO yet!

This is the nicest VRBO we have ever stayed at. This felt more like we were guests at someone’s home than renting a property. The house is immaculate, there are live house plants inside, and a bird feeder outside. So many nice touches that we don’t usually see like: all the silverware matched, the pots and pans were high quality brands, Becky provided whole bean coffee and a coffee grinder along with the coffee maker, a gift basket and a basket of snacks, there are toys for kids to play with, and on and on. She truly provides everything you need. This house deserves a 12 out of 10.
