"Ran by a wonderful couple who are really friendly and accommodating. The lodge is in a beautiful location and the facilities and room are lovely. Breakfast was included and we were asked beforehand what we wanted so it would be ready for the time we requested. And it tasted wonderful. Me and my girlfriend have visited here twice now and I'd greatly recommend a stay here."

"This is a cute place to stay but a bit dated. It is dog friendly and it was lovely to see so many furry friends enjoying a trip! We stayed in a building round the back which had some quirky wallpaper but needed an upgrade. Interesting rules around breakfast which were explained in terrifying detail by staff who had been well briefed - "You have 30 minutes from when you enter until you must leave, and you can have one hot drink refill". That was a bit much, but we complied!"

"Room 1 is extremely small, but was spotless and the bed extremely comfortable. There were too few staff. Service at dinner and the bar was very slow. Dinner wasn't as hot as it should have been. There was too much food on a small plate, I had to hunt under the chicken for my vegetables! Overall, it's quite expensive for food that although was delicious it wasn't hot and not served in a timely manner."

"We stayed for a week over Christmas. The room was clean, comfy and fairly modern. The staff were amazing; helpful and respectful every time we spoke to them. The breakfast was good; selection of cereals, yogurts, fruit and pastries for a light breakfast. Sausage, bacon, scrambled egg and beans if you wanted something hot. Overall, excellent value for money!"

"Great staff friendly and helpful, nice relaxing atmosphere, very nice breakfast, only two very small suggestions would be nice to have longlife milk sachets or similar in the room save having to go down stairs and ask for milk,and could do with a shelf in the shower no where to put shampoo ect when showering"

"I did not get to stay at the OVO, I booked the wrong date (my error), but having paid Expedia for insurance that would alow me to make changes to the booking, the venue wanted to charge a handling fee that was 100% of the room cost. seeing that it would have cost me the full room cost on top of whatever the actual day would cost me I decided not to cancel and to book elsewhere."

"Room clean . Comfortable bed complimentary water . Biscuits and good selection of teas and coffee even hot chocolate. Staff amazing couldn’t be more helpful. Breakfast amazing good parking plenty of spaces. The only downside for not very tall people the bath was quite high to get in to have a shower. Overall a lovely place to stay"

"I booked a standard ensuite double room but upgraded to the Tudor Suite. I chose this hotel because it is hundreds of years old, which is something we don’t get to experience much in the USA! The hotel obviously has all the charm of such an old place and would be awesome for a romantic getaway (although I was traveling alone on this trip!). There is lots of parking, which is free. "Beautiful location with spectacular views. The room was very spacious and nicely decorated and the bathroom was stunning. Breakfast is very good and they offer both buffet and full cooked options. The things that let it down were more to do with the poor staff attitude that we encountered at Sunday lunch and when I tried to check into our room. They didn’t seem interested in helping us and didn’t get our stay off to a great start."

"We stayed in the Linwood Suite for 1 night. The room was spacious, luxurious and comfortable. The breakfast was of a high quality. The room is immediately above the function area and noise travels easily (there was a wedding reception) - we weren't warned about this previously but it was not a problem as we went out to dinner and the noise quietened down before midnight. Unfortunately the experience was ruined by loud noise in the room. It was a mechanical noise which sounded like a generator...

"Lovely room at the Gamekeepers Inn. Smashing staff - really friendly and helpful. Pool was a bonus - kids loved that and the playground."
