Responsive hosts, nice property
We had a lovely stay. It's a but of a haul, but we wanted privacy, so that was expected. Owner's home is right next door, we had hoped there would be more distance as our dogs bark, and we did not want to disturb anyone. Very responsive hosts. Nice property.

Wonderful property in country setting
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful Casita. Spent 5 days 4 nights and enjoyed every minute of our stay - Property is on a small ranch that houses a number of rescue animals (Dogs, Horses, Ram, Cats) - highly recommend reaching out the owners for a tour. Well worth the hour we spent - great way to meet the animals and see their dream coming to life. Beautiful unit - well decorated, full kitchen with sufficient supplies to eat in (we cooked most meals), comfy bed (Queen memory foam), great walk-in closet, window AC in living room for the summers (we had cold temps so we used the gas stove which worked very well). It get's very dark and quiet which made for some very comfortable evenings. Owners were there if we needed anything but otherwise left us alone. There may be some activity on the property as they are doing some remodeling but didn't impact us at all. Property is 10 minutes from San Elijo with restaurants and grocery stores. Elfen Park has some great hiking. Highly recommend this property and would definitely return

Quiet Cottage Bliss
Lovely cottage became our home away from home. The hosts were great and we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Well appointed kitchen, comfortable bed, huge walk-in closet. We would definately stay again.

Perfect Country Cottage
Peaceful and extremely quiet. I could spend months there. My dog had free run of a fully fenced acreage and friendly dogs to run with. The cottage had every high end appliance you might want, including a washer/dryer combo. I would have liked to stay longer, but was needed at home. The hosts are available for any questions.

As advertised and very cozy
Spent 10 days here with my dog and my wife. We had a very pleasant experience with both William and Holly our hosts. Kitchen bath and bedroom all well stocked. If you enjoy dark skies and quiet, this is the place for you. Grocery store and a few restaurants very close by. Plenty of other restaurants nearby deliver via GrubHub. We will be back to enjoy this location again.

Rural Peacefulness
Property is located on a small ranch just outside more populated areas. Very quiet, owners live next door but rarely seen. Slight problem with the dishwasher was fixed immediately.

Definetely nice to have your own little cottage with cooking and clothes washer. Beautiful remote location close to everything. Cottage is well kept and made well. Owners are friendly, and will engage with you if you have questions, but otherwise leave you alone to enjoy the place.

Quiet Sanctuary
This place is gorgeous! Plenty of light, able to open windows for fresh air. About 15 minutes from Carlsbad and Vista. Elfin Forest has a beautiful community to walk around. Explored the animals on the property. Loved hearing the water fountain and frogs at night. Fast communication. Will definitely come back again when I visit San Diego- about 45 min, so worth it!

Beautiful Retreat in the Elfin Forest
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on this property. It is a two acre gated estate that we were allowed to explore during our stay. It is very private and quiet. It is beautiful and comfortable. The owners are on site and very welcoming. We could not have asked for more in a short term rental property and will visit there again if we get the chance.

Very peaceful and great property!
I read this to stay near San Diego for a funeral. this property really fit the bill ass. It allowed me some peace and quiet away from the bustle of the city. The guest house that you rent is very nicely furnished and has plenty of amenities. you can get some local food about 3 miles away. The owners respect my privacy, but were there if I needed them.

Forest Hideaway
We enjoyed our stay with William at their place in Elfin Forest. William was accommodating with our later check in time which was appreciated. The guesthouse was very spacious and well stocked. It was easy to find, though it does takes a few winding roads to get there. Glad we could bring our dogs and had a safe place to park. We did find that the wifi didn’t work the greatest (though no issue getting full cell service) and the tv had recordings scheduled that would interrupt what we had on. The bed creaked a lot, but was very soft. Nice bathroom and again, truly enjoyed all the space inside.

This property is ideally located if your goal is to enjoy SoCal while enjoying a truly quiet, comfortable, relaxing place to rest away from the hustle of city “busy”. We are locals and found this to be perfect
We are between homes and live in the North County of San Diego. We really enjoyed our stay at this property. I had some doubts when we booked because 1) It seemed like it might be a little out of the way and 2) I am always a little leery when the owner also lives on the property. I was wrong on both accounts. My job takes me to many areas of North County as well as San Diego city itself. Despite being in a rural, ranch-like setting, access to all the major routes is minutes away and easy to get to. While the accommodations were only 15 feet away from the owner's home, we never felt his presence or sensed anything other than feeling like we were in our own private place in the country. As for the accommodations themselves, this was one of the largest, best equipped owner rented spots my wife and I have expediency. You won't be bumping into each other or moving out of the way to let your significant other get to the bathroom, or kitchen, or closet, or whatever. Oh yeah the closet. Did I mention it's a walk in? My wife was in heaven. Huge comfy sofa in the living room, full kitchen well equipped with no less than three types of coffee - makers, pantry, washer-dryer, full bath with jacuzzi tub, large TV in living room and large TV in a large bedroom and the peace and quiet of country living while only a couple miles away from getting to everything else North County offers (Legoland, Carlsbad, beautiful beaches). Definitely two BIG thumbs up for me.

Great place
Wonderful, quiet place away from the business of the city. Short drive to everywhere we went to visit. Hosts are great, welcoming people that took the time to show us their property. Would love to stay again, and highly recommend to everyone!

Great Property in a Great Location
This property is situated in a rural setting, but is quite close to San Elijo Hills and is a short distance to La Costa Blvd; very convenient! The property is gated, and the rental unit is easy to access on the property. Parking is more than adequate. The unit is spacious, really well laid out and has a peaceful, serene feeling due to all the lush landscaping about -- all very private and quiet; felt very retreat like. The owners were extremely nice, and were readily (and happily) available to assist with a few minor things needed during the stay. This rental was such a gem; we would very happily stay here again.

We had a wonderful month at Holly and William's Elfin Forest Guesthouse. They were great hosts, easygoing and responsive to anything we needed. My partner enjoyed giving treats to the rescued animals and our dogs loved the 4 acre fenced-in space. The guesthouse is clean and spacious. We took advantage of the fully equipped kitchen to cook most of our meals and slept well on the very comfortable memory foam bed. Highly recommended!

Cozy guesthouse close to north county beaches
Loved how this property feels removed from busy north county, but is really pretty close. Owners were exceptionally nice. Clean, quiet, great place to walk our collie and a super comfy couch made it a great getaway, not just a rental. Highly recommend.

Great time relaxing and playing with the animals
We had a lovely time at Fortuna de Este. We brought our dog and had an adventure with the many animals on the property. Our guest house was warm and inviting. The fully functional kitchen was fantastic and the shower a delight. We had time to be quiet and relax. Holly and William were receptive and responsive to are needs. Beautiful vacation.

A very nice place, rural setting.
The place was as advertised, clean, newish place. Bed could have been softer for our tastes. Lots of windows,, clean kitchen. Nice bathroom. Nice and secure, gated. Lots of little animals on the place, ( all in their fences)a very nice setting. Would recommend it very much. You can see the owners put a lot of effort to make it a pleasant stay.

Great, Unique Place
We sold our house & had almost 3 weeks before moving into our new one and decided on this VRBO which turned out to be lovely, in a great setting. I loved the kitchen and everything was very comfortable. The setting is beautiful with tons of trees and all the animals (who are all well cared for). William and Holly were great hosts. Our dog Misty enjoyed her stay. It is less than 5 minutes to the village of San Elijo Hills. The country feel was great & even though we have lived in San Diego for 20 years we never knew how beautiful this area of Elfin Forest is. I highly recommend this place as an alternative to the typical coastal areas. Check out Double Peak Park for the most amazing views of the county. Thanks again William & Holly for a great stay.

It was just what we needed after a two weeks road trip, a nice well appointed and quiet location.
The property is in a nice quiet location, but really well situated for all your daily needs. The owner's are nice and friendly and helpful, but just let you be yourselves. Overall a lovely place.

Very nice casita tucked away in horse country but close to the beaches.
This is very nice casita nestled in horse country but still within 20 minutes of the beach. Great kitchen and living area with separate bedroom. Plenty of space for longer stays but we only stayed 4 days. The area is mainly horse properties so is very peaceful with lots of trees. But the beaches at Carlsbad and Oceanside are a short 20 minute drive away. San Diego is a short drive away as well. So plenty to do in the area There is a small town center 2 miles away with a grocery store and a few restaurants which is convenient. The property is enclosed except for one area away from the casita so fairly secure for any dogs. William and Holly have 5 dogs that are let lose to walk the grounds a few times a day. We originally booked the property with the intent of spending a last trip with our dog Lizzie and our other dog Bucky. But we lost Lizzy to cancer before the trip. We ended up adopting a new dog and timing wise that was not the best for the trip. Lizzie was a very calm dog. Our new dog Riley so far is anything but and would bark anytime the other dogs were let out. Then our second dog joined in. This would not have happened with Lizzy. So for us it was not that peaceful when at the casita. But that was more on our dogs. Riley was not ready for a trip like this. Overall I would highly recommend for both short and longer stays.
