This place has the WOW factor! That slab of granite at the bottom of the stairs was our permanent location 90% of the time. We took awesome family photos on it. We stayed 5 nights in September with 3 generations and had the most perfect weather, the most perfect time and the most perfect host (Matt). Website photos are accurate, but so much better in person. Super comfy beds, huge newly remodeled kitchen, remodeled bathrooms (upstairs). Loved the screened in porch (but would not recommend for preschool children as the screens needed replacing and some sort of reinforcement to prevent pushing through them and falling to lower level); Loved the fire pit; loved watching deer on the property. The sounds of the river were constant white noise outside. While the upstairs was beautifully remodeled, the downstairs was not, but was very clean and tons of space there and throughout the house. We enjoyed exploring the area (cider house, mushroom farm, soap store in town - I'd mention their names, but I don't think that's allowed on this website). The only reason for taking 1 star off was because there were some very minor things not really worth mentioning. I'm a picky renter and urge you to not hesitate on this one! I'd definitely return. I'm still dreaming about our stay.

The most beautiful River view in all of north Georgia. This place is truly special! This place is so close to downtown Ellijay and other attractions as well. The owners are fabulous and very responsive!!

Very nice house. Great showers, very comfortable beds, well-appointed kitchen, enjoyed looking out at trees from the many river facing windows. Loved hearing the running water of the river. Great outdoor seating. If you pull down to the garage, it is very difficult to turn around. Poor lighting in the dining area and stairwell. No bathmats or wash clothes. TV's difficult to operate and no instructions were provided. Convenient access to the river was deceptive. VRBO needs a better communication system. The power went out. A large tree fell across the road and the power lines were on the ground. With no access to the internet, we could not contact our host for help, we could not drive through to Ellijay, we could not contact the power company. felt STRANDED! Evidently a neighbor was able to report the problem and lucky for us the power was restored after several hours. NEED TO BE ABLE TO TEXT OR CALL THE HOST

Five Stars! The Perfect Mountain Getaway for Our Family ReunionWe found the perfect headquarters at this beautiful VRBO home on the Cartecay River in Ellijay, GA. From the moment we arrived, the check-in process was seamless—clear instructions, easy access, and everything ready for us to relax and enjoy. Great Wi-Fi too!The home exceeded our expectations. Every amenity we wanted was thoughtfully included—from a fully equipped kitchen and spacious living and bonus rooms to roomy bedrooms with great en-suites and large outdoor decks for gathering and relaxing. The sound of the river made for the most peaceful backdrop. Tubes and life-vests for our river float, and a HOT TUBE too! What made this place ideal was the floor plan—it was as if it was built with multi-generational families in mind. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out, yet the layout brought us together in all the right ways. The kids (teens are still kids - right?) loved their space (which included a pool table and air-hockey), the adult rooms had privacy, and the multiple living areas were perfect for meals, games, and late-night laughs. BTW - the 4 FULL baths were perfect! We couldn’t have asked for a better setting for our first reunion and making memories. Highly recommend!

So good that I don't want to tell you about it

I rent 3 or 4 VRBO's per year and this one is one of the best ever if not the best. And if I tell you how great it is, it might not be available next time we want to enjoy perfection. Everything for cooking, playing games, lounging, watching TV, relaxing in the water, tubing right down the street, hot tub, BBQ, fire pit . . . It didn't take us long to realize we'd found the best rental in Ellijay. Thanks!

Fall trip

We enjoyed our stay at River Front Retreat very much! The accommodations are excellent. We had cool weather and spent a lot of time sitting around the campfire in the nice fire pit area where we rested in the comfortable chairs and listened to the river rapids.. The riverside is gorgeous. Side trips to Brasstown Bald and Anna Ruby falls were awesome!

Stair Master - but dang it was fun!

We had our adult children and 4 grands for 3 nights. The space for large families is awesome! Plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms, and even more sleeping space! Best equipped kitchen ever! Hot tub was amazing! The river is amazing and the kids and grands did nonstop runs down the river! The only major con is the number of steps to the river. Old folk cant do it…even the kids said it was hard! But we did love it there!

I would rate this property all time best on my list. The property is spacious, well stocked, brand new Cuisinart Coffee Maker which was important for my wife’s tastebud. The rooms were clean, the stairs to the river was used as a daily workout. 100 stairs to climb. We used the provided tubes to ride the river. What a blast that was. You just walked down the hill to the end of Mulkey rd and launch your tube. It’s a nice 7-10 mins ride. It was a bit challenging at first, but then you get the hang of it. The host was responsive to our needs. Will definitely do it again.

Family and friends

We had a group of friends and family get together for the first time in many years. The house was great for having multiple couples as well as single adults as plenty of bed options. The outside has multiple decks for relaxing and a swimming hole to cool off in. All loved the home and location. Great get away yet only 10 minutes from Ellijay for groceries and restaurants. Would stay again.
