"It was our 3rd 5 day annual visit since marine and lawn took over. We have always moaned about the lack of drawer space in our room, but this time, things seemed to have slipped a bit further. The room wasn’t serviced till after 4pm, the breakfast buffet was cold every day, the spa and pool was closed for a whole day without warning. There was daytime drilling noise for 2 days. While the staff are wonderful, all they do is say sorry. They don’t seem to have any authority to smooth complaints...

"We found the Belmont House Hotel easily, and the staff were very welcoming when we arrived. The hotel itself is lovely, with tasteful décor, and our room was comfortable. Unfortunately, our stay was quite affected by the noise that evening. The bar was closed for a private event, and there was loud music and quite a bit of rowdiness both outside and around the main lobby area. "This was a little tougher than expected. However it was altogether nice. More like renting a resort cottage. Would be great for young couples or groups of friends. Lots of little extras having a full kitchen and laundry. Shower not really an option. Local area very quiet. This also meant few options for pubs or restaurants except the local grocer. Slept well with the windows open and enjoyed magnificent views of the mournes and water."
