Welcome to Drängstugan, a cosy Swedish holiday home for up to 5 guests, beautifully situated in Värmland, directly on the Klarälven River, with the vast Swedish forests right on your doorstep.

Here, everything is about peace, space and enjoying nature. From the terrace and veranda, you can look out towards the Klarälven, while inside the wood-burning stove creates a warm Scandinavian atmosphere. Drängstugan is a wonderful year-round base for exploring Värmland and central Sweden.

Whether you come for hiking, fishing and kayaking, the long Swedish summer evenings, the beautiful autumn colours or a winter holiday in the snow, every season has its own charm.

The accommodation

Drängstugan accommodates up to 5 guests and has 3 bedrooms: one with a queen-size bed, one with a double bed and one with a single bed.

Underfloor heating on the ground floor provides extra comfort. On cold autumn and winter evenings, it is wonderful to light the wood-burning stove.

Kitchen and dining area

The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing your own meals during your stay. Facilities include a 4-burner hob, oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, coffee maker, kettle and toaster.

Crockery, glasses, cutlery, pots and pans are also provided. The cosy dining area is perfect for breakfast, dinner or simply relaxing together after an active day.

Bathroom

The bathroom has a shower, toilet and washbasin. A washing machine, hairdryer and drying rack are also available.

Clean towels and bed linen are provided on arrival and are included in your stay. Laundry detergent for the washing machine is not included.

Directly on the Klarälven River

One of Drängstugan's greatest advantages is its location. You stay directly on the Klarälven River, surrounded by forests, water and the characteristic landscape of Värmland.

Start your morning with views over the river, enjoy a cup of coffee on the veranda or terrace and experience the tranquillity of the surroundings. From the holiday home, you can go hiking, cycling or fishing, or simply relax by the water.

Wildlife in the area includes moose, roe deer, foxes and beavers, and there is also plenty to discover for birdwatchers and nature photographers.

Spring and summer

In spring and summer, the countryside around Drängstugan comes fully to life. The long Scandinavian days give you plenty of time for hiking, cycling, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking or boating.

Or simply do nothing at all: sit beside the Klarälven and enjoy the peace and the long Swedish summer evenings.

Kayaking on the Klarälven

We have 2 kayaks for rent, each suitable for up to 3 adults.

You can choose between a trip of approximately 2 hours or a longer trip of around 3.5 hours.

The price is €25 per kayak, including transfer to the starting point. From there, you paddle along the Klarälven back towards Norra Loffstrand Novilla.

A wonderful way to experience the river and surrounding nature from the water.

Boating and fishing with our Whaly boat

We also have a Whaly boat, which is available with a captain on request.

You can choose a relaxing boat trip of approximately one hour or several hours, or join us for a fishing trip. For fishing, we use modern fishfinders and GPS to help locate interesting fishing spots.

A great extra experience for both experienced anglers and guests who simply want to enjoy boating, fishing and the beautiful surroundings.

Fishing in Värmland

The Klarälven and the many lakes in the surrounding area are attractive destinations for anglers. The waters of Värmland are home to various fish species, including pike, perch and trout.

A stay at Drängstugan can therefore easily be combined with a fishing holiday or simply a few relaxing hours by the water.

Autumn in Värmland

In autumn, the forests surrounding Drängstugan turn into a beautiful palette of yellow, orange, red and gold.

It is a wonderful season for hiking, cycling, nature photography, mushroom picking and wildlife spotting.

After a refreshing day outdoors, return to Drängstugan, light the wood-burning stove and enjoy a cosy evening beside the Klarälven.

Winter in Sweden

When the snow arrives, the forests and the area around the Klarälven transform into a beautiful Swedish winter landscape.

Take a winter walk, explore the forests on snowshoes or discover the surrounding countryside on cross-country skis.

Skiing in Branäs

The popular Branäs ski resort is within easy reach for a day of winter sports.

This family-friendly ski area offers a variety of slopes for both beginners and experienced skiers, a gondola and opportunities for evening skiing.

This makes it easy to combine a peaceful stay on the Klarälven with one or more days on the ski slopes.

Cross-country skiing in Långberget

Cross-country skiing enthusiasts can visit Långberget, which offers approximately 63 kilometres of prepared cross-country ski trails.

It is a wonderful way to experience the peace and natural beauty of the Swedish winter landscape.

Husky tours, snowshoeing and snowmobiles

In northern Värmland, there are opportunities to enjoy typical Scandinavian winter activities, including husky sled tours, snowshoeing and snowmobile tours.

Northern Lights

On clear, dark nights, there is a chance of seeing the Northern Lights.

This natural phenomenon can never be guaranteed. Visibility depends on factors such as solar activity and cloud cover. When conditions are favourable, the Northern Lights can also be visible in Värmland.

Brattfallet

A recommended excursion during your stay is Brattfallet, an impressive waterfall and gorge in Värmland.

Here you can hike and enjoy the rushing water, rock formations and surrounding forest. Brattfallet is worth visiting in every season and is a beautiful location for nature photography.

Free use of our clubhouse

Guests staying at Drängstugan are welcome to use our shared clubhouse free of charge. It is a great additional space for a relaxing evening or for days when the weather is less favourable.

The clubhouse offers:

There is also a shared fire pit on the property.

Electric vehicle charging

Private parking is available on the property. A 7 kW charging point is available for electric vehicles.

Charging is billed separately according to actual consumption at 7 SEK per kWh.

Practical information

Water and internet are included.

From 1 September to 1 April, electricity used by the holiday home is charged separately according to actual consumption at 6 SEK per kWh.

An initial supply of firewood for the wood-burning stove is provided. Additional firewood can be purchased from us for a small fee.

Drängstugan is a pet-free holiday home. For guests travelling with pets, our other holiday home, Pigstugan, is an alternative where up to 2 pets are welcome.

Arrival

When we are present, we are happy to welcome our guests personally. We will show you around Drängstugan and explain the main facilities.

For arrivals after 9:00 PM, the key can easily be collected from a key safe using a code.

We speak Dutch, German and English and are happy to help with information about activities and the surrounding area.
