Hi David, Thank you for leaving your review. We’re delighted you enjoyed our room and location, thank you. When you arrived, at 1.45pm, we explained we were having a very busy day and your room was unfortunately not ready yet. We never guarantee rooms will be ready before 3pm, which is the standard check-in time. David had hoped your room would be ready earlier than is was, but we had a couple of maintenance issues in your room to attend to. You could see that we were rushing to get it ready for you. You were in your room by 3.20pm, 20 minutes late, which we apologised for. We do advertise we are on the second and third floors, with no lift, so apologies if this came as a surprise to you. We did offer assistance with your luggage on arrival. We did phone you a taxi, the taxi company we use are usually very reliable. We did ask you during your stay and on departure if everything was ok, and you could clearly see we were very busy on your arrival day, so we’re a little disappointed you chose to review us so low, for essentially getting into your room 20 minutes late. Thank you for your feedback. You booked our only room that is not ensuite, the title of the room is 'small double room with separate private bathroom’, on our own website we add ‘not ensuite’ but Expedia don’t allow this term. This is exactly what the room is, a double room with a separate but private bathroom. When you made this booking we had several ensuite rooms available, YOU selected our room with separate bathroom. The fact that this room is not ensuite is reflected in the price, being on average £15-20 cheaper per night than our ensuite rooms. We do advertise that we are on the second and third floors, with no lift. When you arrived you were very angry that we were not a hotel ‘with facilities and people to do things for you’, nowhere do we advertise or pretend to be a hotel, we are a small family run guesthouse. Surely for the price you paid you could not have expected a hotel? We do not pretend to be something we are not, I find your review (and your manner while you were staying with us) offensive and extremely rude. We only want guests to have a great stay with us in Edinburgh, holidays are precious time off from the busy lives that we all lead, I understood that you were disappointed on arrival and went out my way to improve your stay, upsettingly I was met with nothing but hostility. I suggest in future you research your accommodation before booking, rather then just selecting the cheapest option available.

Hi,We carefully reviewed all our conversations with you during your stay, Stefan, and found that none of these issues were mentioned to us. If we had been made aware, our housekeeping team (available on the property until 2 pm) and our porter (from 2 pm to 1 am) could have provided assistance with the TV and addressed the bathroom concerns.Additionally, it's important to highlight that our guest house is a historic property in the heart of a historic city. Due to property laws, installing a lift is not feasible, which unfortunately impacts accessibility. We operate on a self-check-in basis and, unlike hotels, do not offer traditional hotel services, including room service.Regarding the comments about dust and cleanliness, we respectfully disagree. Our dedicated cleaning teams and supervisors ensure our standards are upheld, with our cleaning process documented through photographic evidence in our cleaning apps. Nevertheless, had we been informed of your concerns during your stay, we could have arranged for additional cleaning services.We acknowledge that our initial communication might have been too extensive and are actively working to improve this aspect.
