Sublime!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The views from the multiple levels were amazing. Sunsets were spectacular also out over the water. The house itself was clean, well stocked and everything was labeled for ease of use which was a nice touch. We were on the water daily, either kayaking around the calm lake, bobbing in the water on floats trying to escape the heat and one day we even docked our kayaks across the way and went up into the Lakeside Grill for lunch, which was delicious and such a fun highlight. One negative I would say was the stairs can be a little difficult to traverse for older folk. Our Mom had a hard time with them and mainly stayed downstairs, but of course had to head upstairs to use the showers. One day she tripped coming down, so I would suggest being very careful since they are not a normal depth. Also one thing that we realized half way through was that the place had no smells of moisture or mildew. We have stayed at a lot of Lake Houses and the majority have a musky smell, but not here at all. Such a small thing but such a pleasant relief! So overall an amazing week, in an amazing house with a stupendous view!! Thanks so much!!!

The most wonderful, relaxing environment you’d ever want!From start to finish Kris worked with me to get the right days and info about our family dog!Follow-up questions were answered so quickly! Let me start by saying, this place is beautiful! The decor is amazing. You cannot help but just relax upon entering the front door. The furnishings are beautifully appointed. And all the little extras that you would never think would be there, well…. They just were!The Nespresso coffee maker was a big hit! S’mores by the fire pit, right down to robes, slippers, cozy blankets and beach towels. Fully stocked kitchen full of spices, utensils, plates, silverware and serving dishes! The bar area was a delight and the bathtub downstairs was amazing! There were even Qtips in the bathroom! (I forgot to pack them)! The back yard is so nice, and it’s all fenced in, so we felt quite safe letting our dog walk around the property while we were outside. We thoroughly enjoyed the canoe, paddleboard and dock. We even brought our own inflatable Island that seats 6, and were able to drop a small anchor 20 feet away from the dock and just swim and enjoy each other’s company. Grocery store, liquor store and restaurant (for that rainy night) were so close! I’m so glad that I found this home to reconnect with our adult children and their significant others! Memories made! Now go make a reservation and start planning your own memories at this beautiful lake house!

Fireworks and kayaking

Many family members enjoyed several days of kayaking, while my relaxation was reading lakeside. The 4th of July was a delight, beyond all expectation, with lengthy displays both up into the sky and reflecting on the water, from many nearby properties. We have been renting vacation homes for over 25 years, and this was the most stocked with everything a family could need. What a treasure for a lakeside vacation.

Great Stay at the Lake!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage at Markham Bay on Lake Pocotopaug! Kris, our host, was responsive and truly amazing! The house, property and location scream "RELAX" to all who enter. Tons of amenities, supplies and entertainment inside this lovely home. Outside, you'll find a beautiful sea themed mural depicting a local legend. Stroll along the walkways adorned with precious garden areas and whimsical decorations to the terraced sitting areas with Adirondacks, firepit or dockside seating and unwind by the water's edge. Absolute retreat feel to this gorgeous outdoor space. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need and more. Coffee and drink bars are exceptional! The spa style bathrooms have all the necessities and a large soaking tub that invites some serious tubby time. Bedrooms are spacious with comfortable beds and plenty of storage and extra blankets. Very peaceful and quiet setting to relax and unwind. The location was perfect for our weekend. Minutes from dining, stores and Dondero Orchard. Highly recommend this property! Thank you Kris! We will definitely be back!

Fantastic Property

The cleanest house I’ve ever been in. They thought of everything — coffee station, condiments, plenty of dishes and utensils, large grill, firepit. All around a really great space. This would be my first pick to stay again next time I visit.

Amazing getaway at the lake

My family and I loved our stay at the lake house. This was our first time visiting CT, and we definitely enjoyed it. The decorations really made us feel welcome in and out of the house. There was a lot of comfortable seating inside and outside. We loved all the extra amenities like coffee and snacks and we used the grill. Everything was labeled which made it so easy for us to stay there. The lake was quiet and lovely for September. I had some VRBO communication with Kris before and after the trip. Every response was helpful, kind, and quick. Thank you for letting us stay at your home!

Xmas in July

Last Christmas, I decided instead of gifts, I wanted a weekend away with my husband, grown children and their mates instead. I found this house and we spent a weekend in July. We wished we could live there. The only disappointment is that it was only a weekend. We will definitely be back for a longer stay . Attention

Great Lakeside Home

This is a beautiful house on a lovely lake. It made a wonderful home base for our long weekend while we were in the area for our son's college graduation. Kris and Alan are fabulous hosts and they were readily available when a couple of questions popped up. There were so many amenities included in the house plus loads of extras like the makings for s'mores. Everything was labeled, so it was easy to feel at home. The lake is gorgeous, and there are kayaks and a canoe that guests can use, as well as access to a nearby beach. There are plenty of delicious restaurants around, all within a ten minute drive. We would definitely stay at this wonderful property again.

Perfect and relaxing retreat on the Lake - Absolutely Beautiful

This was a well equipped gem overlooking the lake. My family of four adults rented this for two nights in order to attend a wedding. The whole place was elegantly decorated and very comfortable. The kitchen had everything you could want - coffee bar, expresso machine, sparkling wine in the fridge,, and even a station for creating S'mores - yum! The views of the lake were outstanding. We've rented many VRBO's and this was probably the best yet. We will definitely be coming back. Beautiful place.

Best VRBO ever!

I had the pleasure of staying at Kris' property with 5 other friends for an annual girls' trip. From the moment we stepped into this sparkly clean and perfectly decorated home - we were enthralled. This host provides absolutely everything you could ever need - countless fluffy white bath towels, tons of dishware and glassware, multiple blankets, a coffee station that we will talk about for years to come, soaps, toiletry products, super comfy beds.....you name it - she had it. The only downside was that we had to leave! The house was so nice, I almost forget to mention that the views are breathtaking. The large table was perfect for dining and playing games. The hot water was abundant, the kitchen was perfectly stocked...I could go on and on. We had a best time and so will you. I've stayed at many rental properties but this one tops them all. If you have the opportunity to rent this property - do it! I can only imagine how amazing it would be when the weather is warmer. My friends are already talking about returning again. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home and for being an amazing host.

Outstanding experience from booking to checkout!

This was a multigenerational trip with my kids and grandchildren booked for location near extended family and we all feel the entire experience exceeded all expectations! The property itself is lovely, modern, fully stocked with essentials (towels, napkins, dishes, pots pans, coffee makers, air fryer and s’mores kit plus games wi-fi, tv, books, etc.,etc.,etc. for all ages!) and located in an idyllic setting. Every bed and seating option was very comfortable and cozy. We all loved it and are hoping to return soon. The owners promptly responded to every question and request. Truly a lovely experience for all of us.

Wonderful Lake House

We had a wonderful 5 night stay at this house. It was clean and beautifully updated. It was perfectly comfortable for our family of 5. It had every single thing we could possibly need from s’mores ingredients to hot cocoa to kayaks to life vests in all sizes. There are a few grocery stores about 5 minutes away and a Dollar General within walking distance. The private beach is 4 houses down, and usually we were the only ones there. We plan to be back as we have family 20 minutes away. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Complete Oasis

This property is the perfect summer getaway. It has so many activities available such as kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding or if you just wanna chill and enjoy the lake view. The lounge areas in the house and outside are perfect for reading, hanging out with friends and family or playing games and putting a puzzle together. We even enjoyed evenings at the fire pit roasting s’mores. We felt so relaxed here and love the property. The property manager is super responsive and attentive to every detail. Highly recommend!!!

A gem in East Hampton, CT

Delightful lake house with great water view, very tastefully decorated in and out. Two beaches very close by and water gear provided. Great lake for fishing, boating and swimming. Lots of outside furniture on several levels with a great Weber grill for cookouts. Our stay there was very pleasant for our group of two adults and two teenage grandkids. We hope to return there in the future and would highly recommend this home.

The amazing Lake house

Wow! This was by far one of the best VRBO’s I’ve ever stayed at! The house was beautiful, very clean, and had great amenities. The outdoor area was amazing right on the lake! Fire pit was perfect to relax at and watch the sunset. Kris the host was great, she suggested many local eateries and other activities in the area. If I could rate higher than 5 stars I would. Can’t wait to head back to the Lake House!

Great stay on the lake

Loved our stay at this bucolic lake house! My friends and I were visiting for our college reunion nearby, and this lake house was the perfect home base. The lake & kayak/paddle board situation was perfect for those of us who wanted a chill adventure. The house & its amenities were comfortable & offered great relaxation. And the kitchen & coffee area was well stocked. The fire pit was a perfect way to end our evenings just chilling and enjoying the serenity of the lake at night. I’d love to stay there again next time I’m in CT!

Beautiful Property

This home was everything and more! The owners have thought of every detail. It was cozy, impeccably clean and the little touches went a long way! This was a last minute rental for a family funeral. I was trying to make reservations and ask questions while coordinating with other family. The owners were very patient with me and my back and forth! Sadly, it rained all weekend and we didn't get to take full advantage of the water and yard! We have already discussed coming back to stay when the weather is better and we have a happier reason to visit! Thank you!
