"We loved this property. The owners obviously have an eye for decor as it is a really stylish place and beautifully finished. We loved how peaceful the property was and the owners had thought of everything . We really appreciated the tea, coffee and milk after a 5 hour drive and the muffins, biscuits and crisps were a lovely touch. All the information you needed was in a folder and we visited lots of the places recommenced in it. It’s a fantastic property and we hope to stay there again."

"I stay here on a regular basis when I travel between Glasgow and the south. The hotel is a grand old building in a beautiful little hamlet off the A1 with lots of history. Due to this and the fact its family owned and not part of a huge chain, it’s a bit worn in places but it’s clean, comfortable and cosy with plenty of charm and quirks.. The staff are lovely, welcoming, very helpful and do their best to make your stay a good one. There’s a spa, a bar and a restaurant, the food is delicious...

"A great inn, in a good location. Staff were very friendly and the evening meal was excellent. The room was really nice with plenty of space, warm, clean and well equipped. Some noise carried through from other rooms but this wasn’t too much of a problem for our stay. Breakfast was ok but the full English breakfast fell a bit short of expectations. Overall would definitely recommend to stay at the Black Swan."

"The team at the Royal Oak were fantastic from check in to check out. Freshly cooked tasty breakfast every morning and would definitely reccommend the sunday roast which was delicious. The team were very friendly and helpful throughout. The location was absolutely perfect!"

"Había comida estropeada en el frigorífico, que no se podía abrir del olor tan desagradable que despedía. En el lavaplatos había cubiertos y vasos sucios. Detrás de un radiador había colillas. En un apartamento para cuatro sólo había dos sillas, y el sofá está completamente hundido. Nos dieron la llave del apartamento equivocada,tuvimos que esperar al responsable casi media hora, de noche y con mucho frío. Llegó riéndose."

"Great sized room overlooking the market square. Hotel offers free safe parking at rear of hotel and close to all amenities, we visited the James Heriot experience and several local pubs. Thirsk is a great location to visit other local towns like Pickering , Ripon , Northallerton and Helmsley."

El personal muy amable y nos ayudó en todo lo que pudo. No teníamos adaptador de corriente y nos prestaron uno. La comida era buena y tenian una bonita terraza para tomar cerveza"

"A really good location to stop overnight and very happy with the room. Breakfast was delivered in a hamper box outside our room and was rather disappointing. No egg/cold meats option. The main option was oats with fruit. We ordered with banana and strawberry. Tiny amount of strawberry and the banana slices were dried and chewy. But the evening meal was good honest pub grub."

"The staff were excellent especially the young man who checked us in, served dinner and served at the bar. I didn’t sleep much at all the first night because of the very hard mattress but after I asked if we could have an extra duvet on the bed then the second night I slept much better. Breakfast was plentiful but the service was very slow. We had dinner here both evenings and it was ok but again the service was very slow. We would stay here again."

"Fantastic location next to the cathedral with grounds and parking. It's a beautiful very old building but some of the decor is tired. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a set menu served in two parts, first part is continental style which was lovely, the second part was more traditional English breakfast which had real potential however it was spoiled as the sausage was overcooked and dry, but the bacon was murdered and just shattered as it was extremely overdone, inedible...
