reserved the 3 bdrm-2.5 ba home on March 16, 2023. Around 6:00pm on July 13, 2023, I arrived with my brother, a brief while later, my sister and brother in law to check into the property with overgrown grass and drain pipes in the front yard. I did not receive a welcome email or any entry information from the host so I reached out to customer service to request entry access information. I was told that a maintenance technician was on their way to the property and would be able to give us access. It wasn’t until after 6:30 pm that the technician arrived and we were able to enter the home although check-in was 4:00pm. The technician told us that he was there to repair some ceiling from water damage and to hook the dryer vent up.
Upon entering the house, we were struck with a VERY foul odor. We walked the house trying to identify the source but could not. Although the house was very clean, the stench made it uninhabitable (it was that bad). We immediately exited the house and called customer service to let them know what was going on and they attempted to mediate the matter. After standing outside talking to customer service for approximately 45 mins, we finally received an email with the access code around 7:00pm. After close to 2 hours, the owner agreed to give us a full refund, but he wanted to come and inspect the property first, to which we agreed. The owner’s son arrived and told us that he didn’t smell anything unordinary and only wanted to refund us ½ of our payment
