Beach front Los Barilles

Casa Tortuga was the perfect stay for my husband and I. The location and views were ideal. Very tranquil area. The water is right outside your door. The water is so calm you can easily kayak all around. If you’re looking for quiet and slightly removed from the town this is perfect. The owners were wonderful and gave us great recommendations for things to do. Can’t wait to return.

Casita Tortuga - Stunning views and perfect location!!!

Brian and Lucy, thank you so much for being such lovely/generous hosts and for sharing your beautiful beachside casita with us! In all our years of traveling, Casita Tortuga is definitely our favorite spot! The casita was spotlessly clean, perfectly equipped, and has the most gorgeous views of the Sea of Cortez. It is the perfect destination for a couple looking to get away from the busy crowds of Cabo San Lucas to relax and a prime location for exploring the many beauties and hidden beaches located on the East Cape. We thoroughly enjoyed the sunrise each morning from the front porch along with the sights and sounds of watching the mobula rays jump, twist, turn, flip, and flop atop the bay each day. We were even lucky enough to watch a humpback whale one morning just offshore as it repeatedly slapped the water with its large flippers. The kayaks were a perfect complement for exploring the crystal-clear waters and paddling out along the shore was definitely one of the highlights from our trip. Unfortunately, the days went by way too fast, and now we’re left dreaming of when we can come back for another visit.

A gem for couples looking to enjoy the Gulf of California

Casita Tortuga is a charming, classy place for a couple to take in all that the Sea of Cortez has to offer just outside of Los Barriles.It's right on the water -- making it easy to enjoy the jubilant mobula rays, breaching humpback whales, sea birds, sunrise, and stars. It's also a great place from which to snorkel and kayak. For people who enjoy birding, as we do, you will appreciate that the well kept gardens and fruit trees attract a range of non-sea birds too.The hosts are responsive both before and during the stay. Our check in and check out went seamlessly.I really appreciate that the Casita is available for couples looking to rent a private place. Most VRBO homes are appropriate for 4 people, so you end up paying for empty space.We like to cook with fresh local ingredients, and appreciated that the kitchen is well stocked. I'd recommend Casita Tortuga to anyone looking for a special trip to the Gulf of California.

Beautiful, quiet spot by the sea

Gorgeous place to get away from it all, and we loved the kayaks! Definitely bring water shoes for the rocky shoreline. A/C in the bedroom works great, but be prepared to acclimate to the heat and enjoy the ocean breeze. A fan for the house or patio would be be a nice addition, but otherwise everything was wonderful! Jonatan, the property manager was super responsive and helpful, and we loved having the kitchen and grill to cook and enjoy meals to the sounds of the waves.

What a find!

I can’t wait to go back! We had a wedding in Cabo and because of the distance I decided to make a vacation of it and wanted to go beyond the typical resort area of Cabo/San Jose. Los Barriles is a wonderful little town that is still small, but has all amenities you’ll need. Swimming in the bay is absolutely lovely, but besides goggles you must have water shoes. I’m not a wuss, but there are soooo many rocks to walk across before getting in the water that it’s almost impossible without shoes. The casita is very comfortable and great hosts! I usually travel with my Vitamix for juicing and smoothies, but no need as they have a solid blender and most everything you’ll need to cook your meals. A fantastic spot for sunning and for a reset!

We loved this casita!

Our first time in the Los Barriles area and this was the perfect spot. Just right for a couple who loves a private spot with a gorgeous water view, sunrises over the water, and everything you need to explore the area and relax. Very comfortable and clean, lovely generous hosts!

Casita Tortuga review

We really loved meeting owners Brian and Lucy and staying in their beautiful house. The sunrises were breathtaking! The house and grounds were spotless and well maintained. The views from the porch are stunning. We will definitely be staying here the next time we visit the area. The ATV rental place was close to the house. We loved seeing the goats and cows that wander around!

Loved Our Stay!!!

We have stayed in many VRBO rentals over the years and the Casita Tortuga is our very favorite! The 10 days we spent there was so relaxing and it went by way too fast. We really enjoyed meeting Lucy & Brian!! They were so helpful and made us feel very welcome! Thanks for sharing your beautiful casita with us; we hope to be back soon. From the moment we stepped foot in the casita, we knew it was going to be a great vacation. It was so comfortable and relaxing. We loved the time we spent on the beautiful lanai watching the waves roll in and looking for the whales to breach. The Casita Tortuga was perfect!!!

Incredible Place and Lifestyle

We had an amazing time during our stay at Casa Tortuga! The views from the property are immense and we were able to see breaching whales, jumping rays, and lots of reef fish just off the beach. Responsive hosts and a great property manager this place has it all!

Fall Escape

Just Beautiful

There's lots of adventure to be had nearby, but honestly just sitting on the porch and watching the ocean & wildlife can't be beat. Brian & Lucy were super communicative and helpful, the kayaks out front were fun, the bed is comfy, and all the windows have screens -- just perfect for our 5-night trip. Two things that are good to know at the front of the stay: 1. They do recycle, but not glass (so choose accordingly when making beer shopping selections). 2. There's a reverse osmosis water filter at the sink, safe for drinking. All-in a fabulous place to stay.

A little bit of Paradise!!

One of the most amazing rentals we have stayed in. Our little cottage with a large sliding door opened up directly onto the Sea Of Cortez. The sunrises were gorgeous. We even seen a whale from our front porch! The house was well stocked and very neat and clean. Brian and Lucy were amazing hosts. We would definitely go back again!

We enjoyed our stay! Hosts were great. House was just a little casita on the beach, which was exactly what we wanted. Perfect for a couple. Kitchen stocked well with the necessities for cooking. Everything was clean. Laundry facilities were a plus. We will be back.

Wonderful

My wife and I stayed at Casita Tortuga for a week, and we loved it. It’s right on the beach and we loved sleeping to the sound of the waves. Also, the place is very clean with all the amenities, and the wifi/bandwidth was very good especially for Mexico. The location is about a 5-10 min drive from town, so we rented an ATV to get around, and I highly recommend having a vehicle. Finally, the fishing/snorkeling right in front of the house was excellent. Pretty cool reef right in front of the casita to checkout either swimming or by kayak. We took a kayak out that the owners (Brian/Lucy) provide for their guests, and it was so fun. Highly recommend this place, and we’ll definitely be coming back! Thanks Brian and Lucy!

Perfect couples retreat!

This place was absolutely outstanding and we couldn't have asked for better hosts than both Brian and Lucy! The view of the sun rising over the Sea of Cortez every morning was spectacular. Very nice, clean and well equipped casita made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. The shore fishing was very, very good and I caught several nice triggerfish and cabrilla for fresh ceviche and fish tacos along with a decent jack crevalle which I released. Use a drop shot rig, with a 1-2 ounce weight along with a 4 inch Berkley Gulp Swimming Mullet Grub in Nuclear Chicken on a very small stout hook (#1 or #2) and you're good to go!!

Casita on the beach

We stayed in Los Barriles for 6 nights to enjoy the small town and play lots of pickleball. The casita was perfect! One bedroom on the beach with everything we wanted and needed, patio on the beach, full kitchen and washer and dryer. The location was great, quiet area and just a short drive to town.
