The Bear-y Best!!

Christmas in Durango

We flew out to be with our youngest son and his wife and brought the rest of the tribe with us. 7 of us flew in with flight delays and a 1 and 3 year old. What we loved about the property is, we could be in a family group and yet, had separate bathrooms and bedrooms.the fridge was a little dirty otherwise all was FANTASTIC!!! Thank you!

Fantastic mountain home on 8 acres

This house had it all. The kids loved their "Moose" room. It was massive and they had a blast staying in there own "apartment". It was just up the stairs away from the living area and we never heard them! We did have to use fans at night and during the day because it was warm because the lower bedrooms did not have AC. The management took care of everything and was prompt in replies. The grounds are immaculate and at night the sidewalks were lit up. Very beautiful and maintained landscape.

Happy Family in Durango

Our group consisted of myself, my three daughters and their spouses and children. Total of twelve people. The house was absolutely beautiful and clean. We cooked dinner several evenings and spent as much time as possible on the gorgeous balcony overlooking the mountains. Well equipped kitchen and great washer and dryer. The cousins slept in the large upstairs suite containing a king, two twin beds and a sleeper sofa. It was a perfect space for them. Only drawback was that the two couples who stayed in the two ground level bedrooms had to share a bath. They made it work and said it was not a real problem. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. We will definitely be back.

Extended Family Vacation in the perfect home

Our extended family of 9, 3 families, spent 5 nights in this perfect home. Each bedroom area had comfy beds, great bathrooms, and complete privacy. The outdoor areas were awesome got grilling and also enjoying the surroundings as the views from the home were spectacular! We will book this home again next time we are in the Durango area. Also, location is close to grocery stores and historic downtown Durango.

Wonderful house in a beautiful spot!

We really enjoyed our stay at Steeprock. The communication from the property manager was GREAT given I've dealt with a lot of non-responsive vacation rental properties in the past, they were fantastic. As many reviewers said, house is in a great location. It's a quick drive into town but we also had several activities north of town and so it was easy to access those as well. Good house for families, I wish there were a few things supplied for smaller kids whether games or high chair/pack n play like some rentals offer but other than that there are great areas to run around for all ages! If you are going during the summer, this house doesn't have AC in the main kitchen and living room (like many houses in the area) so just a heads up as the house can get warm during the day! The back suite is very private so since we have young kids who wake up really early, it was easy to keep them away and quiet from the others in our family in the early morning! Would definitely stay here again though!!

Steep rock Spectacular

This property was everything I was wanting and more! It is very suited for a medium to large group! The separate suite was perfect for grandpa and I to get away after a long day of activities! It made our vacation very special!!

Great place!

Must be one of the best places to stay in the Durango area. Private, quiet and with a large deck and great view of the canyon. Large home that would be prefect for family gatherings. Easy check-in and plenty of parking. Easy access to downtown Durango. Definitely want to stay here again!

Family reunion

Grandparents, children and grandchildren!! The house is laid out perfectly to allow some separation with perfect central cooking , eating and game space. The surround deck was the backdrop each evening as we came together after the days activities. The home couldn’t be a friendlier place for all.

Our Durango Vacation

First Class lodge. There were 7 in the party. Utilized all 4 bedrooms which afforded privacy and quiet in the evening. Property clean as a whistle. Strategically located for day trip in SW Colorado. All the amenities were appreciated. While the house is not centrally air conditioned, even in the recent heat of July, they stayed cool. Bedrooms have had single unit A/C added. Large floor fans were also furnished. Previous reviews had criticized lack of A/C. We feel the owner has been proactive in mitigating this concern by some others.

Awesome Home!

Rented this home for a family vacation and it was perfect for us! Plenty of space to hang out as a group but also had lots of places where people could have some quiet time if needed. The owner and property manager were great and super responsive and the house was well appointed for a rental property. Location was perfect—not far from town but you feel like you were all alone. Rude Owner Eric comes into House while you are gone

I rent homes from VRBO and various other ways about 6 times a year and I feel that I have a good sense of what to expect when viewing the pictures. The house was as advertised from a location/beds/amenities. However, it was a little dated and some of the rooms and definitely have a bug issue. To be expected in Durango and we didn't mind as it had the number of beds that we needed for the weekend and we weren't picky. Also, during our stay, the homeowner, not the property manager came into the house when we weren't there. We had just left for the day to go to the mountain to ski. He left a note that the house was "Trashed"... We couldn't locate the trash bags that first morning so we ended up going to the store to buy our own so we could remove the "Trash" once we got back from the mountain. But instead of being respectful of circumstances, the homeowner decided to leave 3 separate condescending notes for us while we were away. The other note dealt with bringing a chair from a dining room table to the patio so we could have enough chairs to sit outside on the deck. Eric the owner felt it necessary to leave a note saying "Do not put MY indoor furniture outside"... Again, understanding circumstances, its kinda weird... Being an avid renter of VRBO's I have never experienced this before and am honestly appalled that the property owner would come into the house during our rental stay without notice and then proceed to be so unprofessional. Plenty of nicer better options on VRBO don't risk the inconvenience of a snoopy owner rummaging through your stuff when you are away.
