The property was spotless and homey. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the kitchen well appointed with everything I needed to prepare all my meals each day (essential when you're away from your own home for a week!), and communication with Julie, the property owner, was easy and delightful, starting with her bringing over eggs from her chickens the first day and telling me about the history of the cabin. Being near to the James Ranch Market & Grill, I was able to do my meal shopping with local and regenerative products and enjoy a burger at the grill (try the baconaise dip with your fries - yum!) Having also recently stayed at another Vrbo with an out-of-state property manager, I will say that this cabin *felt* like home and that it was being cared for by its owners as they would care for their own homes. Thank you Julie!

We felt we had discovered a secret oasis and peaceful hideaway, just a few miles from Durango. With James Ranch just 5 munutes down the road, we felt we had everything we could possibly need. We'll be back!

The pictures just dont do this property justice. The cabin was soo cute, it was well decorated, and the perfect space for my daughter and I. We had all the cooking utensils we needed and the host was gracious enough to have farm fresh eggs and a stick of butter in the refrigerator for us. The farm itself was amazing, the cabin was situated right next to an amazing stream of water. We would definitely book here again. Thank you Julie for being amazing host!

Cozy, quaint historic cabin with all modern conveniences. Owner was very responsive to a request we had. Tranquil farmland setting with a babbling stream helped unstress us in a matter of minutes.

Peace and quiet

The cabin on the James Ranch had a lovely old ranch charm with a modernized twist. It was both 1898 and 2025 which is exactly for what we hoped! The cabin was very well appointed and we especially appreciated the hot water kettle. Thank you, Julie!

Anniversary Trip

Our stay in this cabin at James Ranch was fantastic! The cabin was perfect for my wife and I, and everything was just as described in the listing. Julie was a perfect host, and the check in/out process was the easiest ever. We will definitely be staying here for any future trips to the Durango area!!

Tranquil and quiet

Amazingly unique remodeled log cabin with tranquil views, off the busy road and the only sounds you hear are the babbling brook running alongside the cabin all day and night. We even slept with the front screen door open and loved every peaceful minute. The host is quick to respond and is close by if any last minute details are needed. Would highly recommend this unique cabin for a quiet and peaceful getaway. Kitchen is equipped but w the James Ranch right down the road food is always amazing and you could even get ingredients for a meal to cook at the place. Can't wait to go back!

Perfect place to relax

This cabin is the perfect place if you need to get out of town and relax for a while. The property was clean and very comfortable, the host was so sweet and attentive. I had a wonderful time here and I am already recommending it to others thinking of vacationing in the Durango area. Huge thank you to the lovely hosts!!

Lovely Cozy Retreat

We really enjoyed staying in this cozy 1 bedroom cabin in a ranch setting. It is newly renovated with new appliances and farm house accents. We cooked a few meals in the kitchen and found everything we needed. Farm fresh eggs and wonderful unique tea were a nice treat. The cabin is secluded from the world with great views of the mountains and a babbling brook that provided a serene feeling of peace for our time there. We would definitely recommend this get away for any season. A visit to the James Ranch restaurant and Marketplace just down the road is another great experience with cozy atmosphere and delicious food.

Stay at Historic Cottage

I had a wonderful, relaxing stay in the cottage. It was great to get away and enjoy the nature all around me. The cottage was clean, cozy and had a well appointed kitchen. There was great WIFI, plenty of hot water and a very comfortable bed. The location was convenient to Durango and the James Ranch Market and grill. Julie was available for anything I might need. I would stay again and highly recommend the cottage.

What a fabulous cabin and location! Our time spent there was so relaxing and peaceful. The calming sound of the running stream, the joyful chirping of the birds, the glorious sunrise/sunset on the majestic mountains, and the faint melodies of the trains were a blessing to experience. Sitting on the porch sipping hot tea and coffee made the worries of the world all melt away. Everything one would need is readily available. The Host is an absolute gem. She was exceptionally gracious and helpful during our entire stay and made certain our visit was a memorable one. Also, be sure to take a moment to visit their nearby Grill and Market as part of your adventure. We definitely recommend this quaint cottage and will plan to stay there again when we are in the Durango area.

Relaxing Cabin

We were looking for a relaxing place to stay and found it in this cute little cabin. Each day we awoke (and fell asleep) to the rushing brook right outside the cabin door. It was like listening to the rain. The cabin was well stocked, incredibly comfortable, and private. We enjoyed sitting on the covered porch with a cup of coffee and watching the birds and chipmunks. We will keep this place in mind for future stays in Durango.

Charming and Cozy Getaway!

Recently I stayed at this cabin on James Ranch and it turned out to be a very unique and tranquil experience. It is a step back in time in a bucolic, old orchard but conveniently a very short distance from James Market and Grill and a few miles from downtown Durango. From the outside the cabin looks like 150 years ago but it is outfitted inside with a full kitchen, comfy bed, washer and dryer and one of my fave things: an electric tea kettle! I loved the tasteful personal touches of beautiful china, lighting and artwork. Relaxing on the front porch, I enjoyed the sounds of the birds, creek and train tooting by. I am very happy to have found this cozy getaway and hope to stay here again. It was a dream come true and a memory I will treasure!
